hey guys, i ordered 3 Q 18'' subs which i intened to use in a ported application but for some reason not sure how the high QTS option was selected..and in the options it says this is for only sealed applications..so i sent a email thinking i would be ok since it says there is a 30 day wait time but i just got a email saying my subs have shipped so im not sure if they got my email in time and made the change or not, so my question is how bad will it sound if i still throw them in a ported box even though they say the option is only for sealed applications?

i'm debating on weather i should run my pcx2400 (800rms x 2 @ 2ohm) To 2 FI Q 10" dual 1ohm subs, in a prefabbed under seat downfire box, sealed .55cubes ea. (subthump.com) http://www.subthump.com/chd.htm OR build a custom box and remove part of the backseat ported 15 or 18 FI BL Dual 2ohm with the PPI pcx2400 1600w RMS x 1 @ 4ohms. in a box built to spec. problem with the big ported single sub is i'd be losing half the backseat, and would be visible by just looking in the window. I'm open to different sub/box combos using the ppi amp. console? blow through? behind the seat? 800x2 @ 2 or 1600x1 @ 1

Currently I'm using the 9 cube @ 32hz after displacement feeding it about 1.1kw rms and it sounds pretty good but I was wondering would I gain anything from going with a smaller box (7.7 @ 35hz~). IE: would I feel the bass a bit more? would it bit any louder? The only real thing I know about having such a huge box tuned at 32hz is the lows it will pound, other than that I'm a noob when it comes to the dif sizes... Fi GURUS, once again I need your help!

Ok I am about 10-11 months from buying a 2009 Mini Cooper S (waiting because I will pay cash) so I have started my plan for the low end. I have a 10" BL on the way and plan to run it of of a Fosgate 25 to life Punch 150 (birthsheet states >800w rms) I want to keep the box small but want good bottom end I am looking at around .5- .7 ft^ Has anyone run the BL in a small box like that? Any problems or chalenges? I can go larger if need be as the car will not be a grocery chaser but my commuter car BUT I want to still have space in the tiny trunk area for the times the wife and I need to put something back there. As you can see I have time to change the plans but the BL is…

Ok I read the options page and I understand it pretty well. My question is I know I need to get one of the cooling options on the sub but which one? The sub will be used for daily. If I go with cooling, the strength of the motor will be reduced but if I g with just teh p/chamfer option, will it be enough to keep things under control? I really don't want to loose any structural integrity inside the motor if I don't have to. And the inner heat sink? I don't quite understand that one what is it for, and do I need it? So the options that I think I need are: p/chamfer, hi xmax coil, daily, universal? Would these options be what Ineed for daily 2k+ rms? thanks

Well, we just slopped together a set up for this years nopi nationals in atlanta. It was 3 kicker CVR 12's in a partitioned sealed box feeding each sub 2.4 square feet, and also 3 kicker CVR 10's in a partitioned box feeding each about 1.6 square feet. They were stacked and put in the back of a 98' Durango no extra battery, not even another cap. Powered it by 2 Crunch Powerzone 1000W 2 channels. We ran the stock USAC 1801-3001 class, and did well. Hit 141.2SPL at 56Hz beating several guys running memphis 15's. Regardless, we are gearing up for next year to be much bigger and louder. This year's set up was built in 2 days with subs from various cars just thrown together i…

I am looking into buying the 15 or 18. I would like to say that I would rather get the 18, but that's not true. I want to get whatever will promote the best response with my trunk size. I have a 03 grand prix, and the height of the trunk is only 17 inches. The maximum dimensions the box width and length can be are 35 x 30. My main question is if the surround of the sub is only 1 1/2 to 2 inches away from the lid, will that decrease my response? With the 18 the dimensions would be 15 tall x 35 wide x 29 deep with the port firing into the cab tuned at 33hz. Will smaller actually give me the most bass? I'm not worried about SQ, just spl... Thanks in advance! Any help and ad…

Hey i use to have 2 (dual 2)12" kicker cvrs running off of a zx750.1 now i have 2 (dual 2)12" FI ssds running of a zx1500.1 and my cvrs are louder then my ssds, the ssds are in a 4 cube ported box tuned to 32hz. My electrical is a 200a EA alt, Yellowtop under the hood. Ive got 10guage speaker wire, 1/0 power/ground wire. When i try to set the gains using the gain setting tutorial i dont get any voltage reading from my dmm so i try and set it by ear and the subs just stop playing when the subs arent moving that much. Im not sure whats going on. Im almost positive i hooked the subs up to read a 2ohm load i remember goin gfrom the positive from amp to positive to sub to posi…

how much power could one safely put into a fully loaded Fi q 18? i got my sp4 fixed and will be testing some boxes but if i dont get the sounds i want i am going to sell it and buy another sub. the Q seems a logical choice as i want more frequencies but also want to keep the volume. i am undecided on single or dual or sealed vs ported. my thought was that if i replace the SP4 i would get 2 q's and thus have greater cone area with more control and higher bass frequency range. in my mind that would mean i could get more volume out of them than the sp4. the power handling would be close to the same

Well guy im new to this forum so Hi . Now to the question... I have just bought an 18" btl fully loaded with the spl option, and from what I read on here you cant play music at all with it wich is not my intentions. I want to be able to play music and not just a tone. I have just emailed trying to get my order changed to the Daily option. If it dosent go through will the Spl option really not be able to play my songs at all? Im really hoping I just didnt waste 500$...

Hi guys, I was looking at the cut sheets for the fi Q 12 ported which is tunes to 32 Hz, and have a few question. what would I have to do, (if it can be done) to the same box, to tune it to 28 Hz? Or Would I have to build another box? Would you recommend tuning it to 28 Hz as opposed to 32 Hz ? What are the prows and cons? Thanks, Shopvac

I have a old kicker SX 1250.1 amp. its rated 1250+ at 1 ohmn. my question is what would be better for the sub and amp? 1 or 2 ohmn's? the 1 would be getting more watts so it would be louder but if i ever switch amps will that effect the 1 ohmn? the sub would be a 12in Fi BTl N1 sub, its rated at 2000rms, idk which to get 1 or 2?

Howdy, I've been in the planning stages on this for a while and I think I've got it figured out. I'm going for 4 x BTL 12's Fully loaded in this wall: The specs are like this: 19.69 cubes gross 16 cubes net (Subs and Ports removed) 4 cubes per sub Tuned to 32hz with 266.875 sq. in. of port I'd like to run dual 2 ohm BTL's and have each one off of a Orion HCCA-D5000 so roughly 2500 watts RMS per sub (10k total). I'm planning to run all Knu Konceptz 1/0 wire with multiple runs to a battery bank of 6 Kinetik HC2400's in the trunk and 2 200 amp alts. So my question is, do these specs look good for the subs and such?

I got a pair of Q15's yesterday. I put them in the box which is 3.5 cubes tuned to 28hz and they sounded different then anything else ive ever heard. As much as everyone praises the low-end ability of the Q it seemed to me that the higher notes(40-60hz) sounded louder. The low notes made a popping sound that sounded like it might be hurting the speaker. I called someone who runs the ssd series and he said he had the same problem. He told me to tune them to 32hz and it would fix it but the whole reason i wanted the Qs is to hit lows. Should i give the speakers some time to break in or is anyone else having this problem. 2 Q15s 2 MTX TA81001 Thanks Keith

I was planning on getting a 15" ssd for my 95 saturn sl2....the problm is my trunk isnt the biggest. I have enough room to make it the recommended 3-4 cubic foot box but i would have to face the sub towards the top of my trunk. If i did this would it still sound as good as if it was facing the back of the trunk, and where would I have my port facing. Can anyone possibly make me a box design that would fit in my trunk for the 15" SSD. the trunk is about 15" tall, wheel well to wheel well is about 35" and back to front im not to sure. I would greatl appreciate some help on this. I was also planning on running my Us amps xt2000D on it.
