I cut a box according to the ssd cut sheets, and it is in a 08 mazda 6i sedan (non hatch model). well.. Downside is it does not fit with the sub facing the seats. I gutted the trunk to bare metal to see if it would help me try to squeeze it in.. NADA. I PROMISE you it does not fit any other way unless I somehow build it in the trunk. So my dilemma, is that the sub is pointing straight up towards a panel, and a lot of the bass "energy" is soaked up from it. Is anyone knowledgeable to give me the smallest possible dimensions for 33hz ported box? I suck at numbers, they give me headaches, and I failed alg. twice in college.. lol. I know that sounds lazy, but sub boxes are n…

Hy, I need help with my new box, as the topic title says. My car is a Mazda3 hatchback; the sub-amplifier is USAmps XT4000.1 (on it`s box it says "CEA" ), I don`t know if my version is overrated or will provide 1500W@1ohm. I want my Fi to play loud, and as low as hell . I`m thinking at a box tuned at 28-30hz. Can anyone help me with a project? I`ll measure my trunk and i`ll post here the max. possible lengths for the box. PS: I`m gonna use the stock HU with a MTX Re-Q sound procesor...

I was plan of buying 4 Fi BL series 15's. I needed to know how much RMS wattage could the speakers really take. I am going with the flatwind voicecoil, with the cooling option, and the daily driver. I already have an amp in mind that puts out 4kw. If the speakers can take a little more I will looking into maybe a 5kw amp. I do plan to use a bass processor in line with the amp. I am open to any suggestions.

so i want to keep as much of my trunk as possible, so what im woundering is. My old box was like a perfect square, if the new box is the same cubic feet, but more rectangle than square so it will stay in the rear of my trunk. How will that effect the sound?

Foreward fire in a trunk, which of these three boxes are better. The smaller the box the closer the back of the box is from the back of the sub. All are from RE's box calculator. Each box has 16 square inches of port per cubic foot, the first two are off by -.003- & +.008 sq in. The box is 23-26 deep, is that bad for dampening? How far should the back of the magnet be from the box? 2 Fi BTL 12" 4-6kw @ 1ohm 2.46 cubic feet each @ 34.75 HZ with 78.75 square inches of port, box face is 17 x 37. Hey guys I got a 93 Grand Caravan and two Fi Q 18's With BP packages commin hopefully next week Im finalizing some ideas on a box and wanted some input. It gonna be subs firing up port along bottom out back. Im aiming for S.Q.L, i figure it will be loud regardless I'm not trying to put up huge numbers i want it to be very deep and clear thats all So im thinking Height = 26.5" Width = 47" Depth = 39" All in 3/4"MDF / im doubling the top sheet where the woofers are going. According to the RE Box calculator which i dont know how accurate it is it tells me Internal Displacement = 16.068 CuFt Before Sub (0.24CuFt x 2),minor Bracing( maybe .4CuFt) and After Port Displacement.…

Ok guys I need a little input on a few things. First off, I was running two FI Q 15's off of a 40.1 @ 1 ohm in a 8cuft box ported to 28hz and blew one to hell and the other one's coil is burnt like a motha... So I was thinking of going with either one 18 BTL or two 15 BTL's off of the 40.1 @ 1 ohm. What do you think? Either setup will be tuned to 32hz. I was planning on modifying the current box if I go the 15 route, but if I go with the 18, the box will be around 7.5~8 cuft tuned to 32hz. This will be a daily driver setup.

Hey everyone, I have a pair of d1 12" Q's. One of the wires coming from the cone going to the terminal on the sub snapped... and there seems to be some sort of burn on the wire (its blackened at both ends). Any explaination on why this would happen and any way to fix this. I know i can solder the wire back together but it just looks like it was too short to begin with, when i connect the two pieces of the wire together and press down on the sub it looks as if the wire was never long enough and just kept pulling on it until it finally snapped... Also if i can solder it back together should i add a longer piece of wire in? and where do i get this wire??? I dont know if this…

  12. I'm planning on getting a 12" Fi Q (dual 1 ohm with cooling, spider and heat ring) and putting it in a ported box and I am on the hunt for an amp to boot. I think I found what i want and its a Hifonics HFi1000D but i also saw a Hifonics HFi1200D for $50 more so i was wondering if its a good idea to go with the extra 200 watts and if i should just stay around 1000 watts since thats what the sub is rated at. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23548_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ1200.1D.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22705_Hifonics-HFi1000D.html edit: added the amps link.

  14. Hey guys, I am planning on installing a 10in Fi Q subwoofer in my 2009 BMW 128i. I have wanted to do an install in this car for quite a while but limited trunk space has kept me away until I decided to build a custom fiberglass enclosure. I plan on using an AQ1200 D amp with the Q and with that being said I am concerned with the amount of power I will be drawing from the car to power the amp and sub. Any input would be greatly appreciated as to whether or not this might pose a problem in the long run with my battery or alternator. Thanks in advance.

  18. I'm looking to redo my wall for my BTL 18s. I'm currently using a Cactus 5kw, running it at .7. My electrical consists of a 200amp alt, XS d3400 under the hood and a d3100 in the trunk. I'll be adding a second d3100 during the rebuild of the wall. How big would you guys go for the amount of power I'm using? My current wall is 14 cubes (after displacement), 35hz tune, with 192" of port. The design was bad, hence why I'm redoing it. It's only doing a 151.5 at the headrest with the passenger door wide open. The way I have the port and subs I'm having some phase issues and I think I can get much louder then I am. This is just for daily driving with some competing on the side…

what gauge speaker wire would be recommended for 4 10" fi bl (flat wind coil, cooling) i have 12 gauge speaker wire but im thinking that that is too small. its kicker shielded wire. would i be able to tie the 2 wires together and double them up to have roughly 8 gauge wire? or is the 12 going to be enough?

I have a Fi Q12 in 2.5 cubes tuned to 32Hz. I dont like the way the box was made so im gonna make a new one with left over MDF. I have max demensions of 38 wide, 14 height, and 14 depth. i still wanna tune it to 32Hz but in a smaller enclosure like 2.1-2.25 cubes. So any plans will help. Need 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume. also what difference would there be in a smaller box?

So i am using my 15" Q for a home theater sub, 12cuft tuned to ~12hz or so. It is a monster on only 1000 watts. Through reading allot on subs and linear tech im wondering how the Q's coil is setup, underhung/overhung, any linear tech, shorting ring, and if there is anything special about it? Im more or less wanting to compare what i am listening to and what its tech is compared to what some people are using. I have to say though that the Q in my enclosure is a pretty amazing experience. just need to get maybe another 500 watts to it and some way of keeping my house's voltage stable. thanks!

The SSD is a great sub... The SSD is currently being powered by a SAZ-1500d on my stock electrical along with my beautiful Pioneer 860mp as the captain of the ship Anywho When I first purcahsed the sub I only had a 4.5 cu ft ported enclosure for its home and well lets say it was a great experience to say the least. 4.5 cu ft review: 4.5 cu ft enclosure didn't really provide the SQ that I was looking for but it was loud and allowed it to produce a substantial amount of spl. Very noticable to the point it would tickle my ears and this is one sub mind you had friends that rode in my car think I had 2 subs. I enjoyed the 4.5 cu ft enclosure but due to me having copper coil…

I have a box now THE's set up for 1 12" FI BTL tuned to 32hz mounted in my tunk facing the rear of my trunk. Box cu ft now with 1 sub counting displacment and vent is 3.75. I was thinking of installing a second one on the oppisite side of the box firing inside the cabin.... My question is: Will the sub work correctly and sound good this way? With a second sub including displacemnt the cu ft. would by 3.57 so according to specs thats slightly above the low end size for 2 FI BTL's correct? Any suggestions I would appreciate that help thanks gu…
