Ok so My FI BL 12" just arrived, i had a 18" previous in my Ford explorer. Now since I have a 240sx i need something smaller. I have my amp (saz-1500D) all set-up and ready to go. I forgot i need to reset my gains because when I tested the sub I could hear it clipping, and for some reason my gain (min/max) control knob mounted at the front of my car did not change the output of the sub. I lost the original cord but i read a phone cord could work so i tried and the blue led works at least. I digress to my problem which is that i forgot how to set my gain. I remember sticking in a 60hz cd at 3/4 full volume and reading the voltage from the amp but i forget the calculation. …

I have a silverado extended cab and was wondering how you guys think this would sound with 2 ssd 10" powered by 900 watts rms @ 2 ohms http://subthump.com/Chevrolet-GMC-Sub-Boxes/Silverado-Sierra-Extended-Cab/99-06-GM-Extended-Cab-Dual-10-Downfire-With-Amp-Space.html The volume is more than what is recommended for the subs, would that be bad?

Ordered under Jeffrey Squier Bought the Q back in Janurary. I have been told that the spider is blown. This is my only resort of maybe getting some info on what to do to send it back to you all to be re-coned. I know that you all are a busy group, but please respond, as I have a nice paperweight on my hands.

Hey guys, I m back.. I was here like a month or two ago.. I was collecting the informations I need for my new set up.. Then finally, I got the set up done.. I have a 15" Fi Q D2, Ported box tuned at 26hz, JBL GTO 1201.1 II amplifier.. PICS: BUT I have a problem here.. I grabbed a deal for the box and sub combo when I needed a Q that is D1 not D2.. But the sub I got is D2.. So I am stuck with 4 ohm load on the sub since JBL amp is 2 ohm or 4 ohm stable only.. It cannot go lower than 2 ohm.. At 4 ohm(which it is running on right now) load, it is only 787 watts RMS.. If it is at 2 ohm load, it would be 1200 watts rms.. It already sounds sweet at 787 watts rms.. i can…

  5. I currently have an SSD 10" on a 1000/1 JL audio XD. the sub had all the cooling options and it is a dual 2 ohm I was an all out JL fan since high school and I was happy with my W7 for a very long time. After ripping 2 foam surrounds i decided to give FI a try I have a Sealed box @ .4cu. ft. and my SSD 10 has all the cooling options.. QTS, flatwound ETC ETC. well i have had the sub let me down 3 times thus far. The first time was spider seperation and the last 2 times were either a wire breaking off the chassis mount or a melted terminal. I have been out of the game for a while and im not saying im to blame for at least some of it. Truth be told I listen to Several g…

  6. i just ordered my SP4 18 today, i thought i had a box idea but i was told it was not very good so i need some help. back seat of a dodge ram 2500, i have 30HX36WX31D max space, smaller is better but thats what i have to work with. i intend to mount it on a new tool box im installing in place of the rear seat. if i use 2 .75" MDF sheets to make 1.5" panels and build the entire box of that do i need to double up on baffle? do i need bracing? i currently have a ZX2500.1 to power it (do you think i should upgrade?). i am not sure exactly where to tune it so i planned on starting with a high tune and an extra thick bottom and then extending the port and pulling parts of ht…

I am buying a 3hp motor from TC sounds, I would like to know if FI can recone it. If so, what are my options or what can I recone it to? I know/think that the 12 spoke baskets FI sells will fit this motor, so I am definatly ordering one of those. But, which recon kit should I go with, I want to recone to a 15" and I would like DVC 1 ohm coils, I will be running this 15" off a Kicker Kx 2500.1 at 2 ohms, so what options will I need on the recone kit for the hybrid sub to handle 2500 watts? I know I want the daily option and whatever its going to take to handle my amp as far as the coils go. I really would like a BL recone kit, not interested in the BTL but if its cheaper t…

  8. I had my box custom made and shipped to me. I asked for a 15" birch box to be made. The specs are 31.25 inches wide, 16 inches high and 19 inches deep. 3.25 inch wide port with 47.25 sq inches of port area. 3.55 cubes internally after displacements and tuned to 31.8Hz. All of these numbers appear to be within the specs posted by Nick for a BL 15....this is the only size box that will fit in my trunk. And taller, wider or deeper and it will not fit. Obviously a bit bigger would be great but is this not an efficient box? And if not, how, when it is built within the specs posted for BL 15 enclosures? Thanks.

alright im dead set on the 12" SSD and then i heard this for a review... "i hated my ssd's my two 10 d6's will beat the piss out of them all day long(the ssd's were 12's). I've had a D6 12 as well and it sounded better than the ssd's. I will never buy and FI product again. One of my woofers was DOA when I get it. Then I had to pay to send it back then pay for the repairs and to ship it back. Then the woofer worked for like 2 weeks and the same problem happened AGAIN! So I threw them away. I was never impressed by the subs they were just mediocre. They sounded alright but there was some notes they didn't get and they didn't dig very low at all. I had about 750 going to ea…

  12. I've been thinking lately, and have recently become curious if I could fi two Fi Sp4 15's in my trunk of my Cruze. I already have 1 in there, but my question would be if I could should I make it a sealed box or take my rear deck speakers out and have areo ports going through there? Just thoughts, or even do a port in the middle. The max deminsions are 17" height 35" wide and 25 or 27" depth not 100% sure. Just would like some thoughts on this. I love my sp4 and if this car wasn't so new I'd have a wall of four of them by now lol..but if I am missing anything for you guys to help me out let me know and I'll make it presentable. Thank you everyone!

Ok well I figured I would come here since Fi does not seem to like to email there customers. I bought a Fi BTL 18 fully loaded from their website last summer and for the past 5 months it has made a popping sound. It would do it pretty randomly but usually around half way up. Well after about 5 months the sub seized up. I figured it was the voicecoil, had probably come apart. So I begin removing the cone then the spider when I see that the voicecoil is fine. It was the motor, it had been rubbing up against the voicecoil eventually causing the sub to seize. I pulled out the voicecoil and the motor just snaps against the side what a headache! Im looking at the basket now I …

I am thinking about getting an 18" BL for my 98 pontiac grand prix gt sedan. My car has a big trunk and I think it would be big enough for this sub and a good size ported box. I was wondering if anyone would have any advice as to whether this would fit fine and also amp recommendations? I would get the daily driver option as well. Im thinking around $400 for the sub and I could possibly build the box with my dad. Also what would be a good cap to go with it and would there be any other modifications I would have to make to my car's electrical system? I already have an alpine head unit.

Hello all, I'm planning a new build and was going to use 4 DAD BD woofers but have been also looking around at different companies and wondered if anyone could compare the DAD BD's to the Fi SSD. I already own a BD-15 and love it, but have no experience with Fi audio what so ever. I'm going to run either 4 15's or 4 12's (most likely 12's) in my 1999 Subaru Impreza on a Cactus 5K. I need to get loud at fill tilt but sound good a lower volumes, my DAD woofers do this VERY well. If anyone has experience with these two woofers any info is appreciated.

I have a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and I am going to put a Fi BL 18" in it. It will be powered with a Rockford Fosgate T10001bd amp and a Kinetik battery. Just ordered it yesterday I have a general idea of the specs on my box in order to fit the 5-10 cubic feet. It will be about 9 cubes by the time everything is displaced. The only problem since I am new to car audio and this is my first system is what are the dimensions of the port? The box will be W 45" x H 20" x D 20" with 3/4" MDF. I want to tune the box to 32Hz. Any help will be appreciated. -Kasey

For some reason outside of my power my 08 Bl with cooling caught fire. I was on my way home from work about an hour and a half ago, i smelt something kinda like burning leaves so I turned the radio off and pulled over and opened the hatch of my jimmy and the sub was on fire. I could see this bcuz there is aplexiglass window on the front of my box... I have no idea how or why it did this, it was on fire at the spider btw. The amp wasn't warm nor the wires... The amp isa sundown saz 1500d. 0g wire, 12g speaker wire. Itwas only playing for about 5 min when it all happened. I think the warrenty is still in effect, but I'm not sure if that is even covered. They are going in my SUV and I will power them with 3 Rockford Fosgate 2500bdcp amps. My dimensions are 46W x 38D x 23H. I have no wiggle room for width but for depth and a little higher I do.

I've built boxes for at least 15 years. But, i've never built a ported box like this. This box is gonna be 31.18 cubic ft 52 in wide x 37 in tall x 28 in deep. Trying to figure out how to fit all the subs and where to put the port. My guesstimations on the port size would be 15 in x 20 in and port length would be 8.13394050 ??????????I put the width and height in on a port calculator and it comes up with this length. What is that? I don't understand the length part. Don't even know if I can make a port hole that size with those subs in there. I was thinking of slotting the port either at top and bottom or on the sides. Sides would be better i'd have more room. I've ne…

I guess my original post got lost, but was looking for some help with my choice of amps. I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima, and I have one BL 15 now and I want to get another one. So for 2 BLs I know I will have to upgrade my amp. I dont have a HO Alt, so the SAZ 3000 would be out of the picture (right now anyway) how would a SAZ1500D push 2 BL 15s? what other amps do you recommend? All name brands are welcome. Also how much do HO Alts usually run? Thanks
