i was driving down the road when my fi bl 12 cut out and never came back on. i went home and troubleshooted everything until i had everything tore apart at 5am only to find one of the leads on the subwoofer broke. i have no idea how this could have happened. i have it pared to a kicker zx 1000.1 amp running at 2 ohms. anyone know why/ how this could have happened and how i can get it replaced by nick or anyone else at fi??

I was wondering what would be good to run either the 18" btl n3 or n2, i have the previous style btls which is still are awesome daily subwoofers @ 35hz for me, but i want to move up a little. Is the n3 a good daily subwoofer, and with the option of 5-7 spiders what would that alter, would the normal 5 spider be a better daily/music sub? if someone could answer that for me that be awesome. or is the N2 recommended because i see on smd that the n3 is more of a spl sub, the fs is 51 on n3 , and 34 on a n2. does that mean my box tuning will have too change or no? overall i just want to know if purchasing 2 N3's would be alright for daily purposes/ someday competition with …

So...I installed my new sax-125.2 amp for my components...got it hooked up...turn on the truck....HORRIBLE alternator whine.... so i grounded the RCA cables on the HU and bam its fixed(pioneer HU btw)... so then i went ahead and tested my components. well i turned up the volume and BAM my Fi Q just died . i tested each connection with a DMM until i took out the sub and well i lost a coil...i have no clue what happened...the sub is going on 3 years old now and i know how that sub acts by heart. i know i wasnt pushing it too hard and i was at 2 ohm on my saz-1500d in a 2.4 cu ft sealed box before sub displacement. also it was on for maybe 20 seconds before it died so i kno…

Ok well I figured I would come here since Fi does not seem to like to email there customers. I bought a Fi BTL 18 fully loaded from their website last summer and for the past 5 months it has made a popping sound. It would do it pretty randomly but usually around half way up. Well after about 5 months the sub seized up. I figured it was the voicecoil, had probably come apart. So I begin removing the cone then the spider when I see that the voicecoil is fine. It was the motor, it had been rubbing up against the voicecoil eventually causing the sub to seize. I pulled out the voicecoil and the motor just snaps against the side what a headache! Im looking at the basket now I …

I've had this sub as my daily for only about 2 months and it finally feels like it's getting broken in. At the moment I have it on a hifonics brx2400 along with a kinetik hc600 (will be upgrading soon) 220 amp alt and runs of knukonceptz 0 gauge CCA (will be upgrading to OFC). Anyway my question is, why after bumping for about 30+ min does the dustcap progressively get warmer?? I had this problem before with some crappy RF p2's getting extremely warm on the cone right above the voice coil, but they were being pushed at full rms with good electrical. NOW i am pushing a 3k rms woofer with just a hifonics (probably 2000 watts) and poor electrical (for the time being). Ho…

i just got my sub hooked up and my chasing electrical issues. while testing the sub i noticed the dust cap got very very warm, to the point of me wanting to pull my hand away when i touched it. the sub was not reaching xmax and was also not fully powered. i have the sub wired as follows to a ZX2500.1. now i noticed that the kicker amp flashes protect when the bass hits but its not constant. so i expected there to be a grounding issue. i ran all new 0ga power and ground using 5/8" brass bolts and nuts and 1/8" brass flat washers on a freshly grinded clean section of my frame rail. im replacing my alt wire to 0ga and am looking into a new alt. all this said i feel that th…

I bought my SP415 dual 2 ohm back in October and received it in November and after only 5 months of use, the foam surround is ripped. I can't seem to figure out how this could have happened so any input would be great. Also curious if this is covered by FI's warranty. But here's the setup: -1999 Grand Prix GT Sedan -FI SP415 dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm. No spaced spider and no cooling (daily use, didn't see the need) -AQ2200d tuned to 2100 watts RMS using a multimeter -DIYMA oversized 0awg CCA power (appx. 22') and ground (3') with a 200 amp circuit breaker near the battery -Optima Yellow Top -Ohio Generators HO Alt (its an older model but I had them test it and it puts o…

I have a 15" FI SSD, i built a 2.4 cubic foot sealed box (before sub discplacement). Feeding it 870w rms, it gets decent loud, but everyone i show it too thinks it should be louder. One of my friends jl 10w3v3 in a ported box sounds just as loud, if not louder... Anyways, im fine with the output, but it has a really weird sound to it. Perhaps its rattling my back wall, but after listening to different types of songs i believe its something with the sub, but i lack the knowledge to know for sure. On say 3 6 mafia late night tip, its not so bad... if u listen closely u can still hear some off sounding sounds. On heavy metal, that i listen to daily, its a big problem. I cant…

Hey guys, told you I'd be back ... lol ... I recently had the post concerning the enclosure design for the SSD 15 and got that all figured out and taken care off. it looks so sexy with it in the box! Looks like it belongs there lol. Well the Fi sub came in today and I've ran into a problem, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to recone it already within the first 5 minutes of play ... First off let me start off by giving some info, the box of course is tuned to 32hz, I do NOT have a subsonic filter. I was warned of this and my hardheaded self didn't think it would screw anything up that fast. (Almost instantly, bout 5 mins of play time.) The sub is a dual 2 ohm…

so as i was driving around with my friend, my sub woofer started hitting the bass really weird...shortly after a burning smell came...almost like a grinder, then no more bass! well ive had my sub since jan, hooked up to a DSC2000.1d, wired @ 2ohms, 56.1v on the multimeter, 2.5cf ported box...every thing was done right! why would this happen? should i contact Fi about getting this repaired?

  18. I currently have an SSD 10" on a 1000/1 JL audio XD. the sub had all the cooling options and it is a dual 2 ohm I was an all out JL fan since high school and I was happy with my W7 for a very long time. After ripping 2 foam surrounds i decided to give FI a try I have a Sealed box @ .4cu. ft. and my SSD 10 has all the cooling options.. QTS, flatwound ETC ETC. well i have had the sub let me down 3 times thus far. The first time was spider seperation and the last 2 times were either a wire breaking off the chassis mount or a melted terminal. I have been out of the game for a while and im not saying im to blame for at least some of it. Truth be told I listen to Several g…

I have a fully loaded BTL 15" and it got here yesterday. I had one of those cheap prefab boxes laying around so i popped it in and put 1200 watts to it from a hifonics amp. Wasn't quite what i was expecting. My friends two 12 inch mojos hit way harder than the BTL. I'm not trying to put down FI or anything i just want to know how i can improve the sound (loudness) of it. How much better will 2000 watts RMS to the btl and a much bigger box help? my current box is only 2.3 ft.^3 Heres the dimensions of my new box.

I own a 18" BL fully loaded on a kicker ZX1500.1. this has done me well as a DD setup for a year but now i want more. I am looking for more low end and more volume with out sacrificing much of my high end. my box is currently tuned at 44hz @ 5.4 cubic feet and i was planing to build a new box tuned to 35hz @ 7.99 cubic feet. i have the option to swap my 1500.1 with a 2500.1 plus a couple hundred and stick that behind the BL. would i blow it with this setup assuming im not an idiot with gains and the bass blow knob? my second thought was to sell my sub and box to buy a SP4 and stick that on a BC3500.1D crachendo amp. i read that this amp can run .5 stable where as my kic…

Hello all, I'm planning a new build and was going to use 4 DAD BD woofers but have been also looking around at different companies and wondered if anyone could compare the DAD BD's to the Fi SSD. I already own a BD-15 and love it, but have no experience with Fi audio what so ever. I'm going to run either 4 15's or 4 12's (most likely 12's) in my 1999 Subaru Impreza on a Cactus 5K. I need to get loud at fill tilt but sound good a lower volumes, my DAD woofers do this VERY well. If anyone has experience with these two woofers any info is appreciated.

  25. Hi everyone, first post here. I have an Fi Q 12, I ordered it fully loaded with the high QTS option with the intention to use it in a sealed enclosure. I currently have it in a 1cu ft box. Unfortunately the sub response really rolls off below 35-40hz, which is very disappointing. I have had much lower end subwoofers in sealed boxes that were actually much better on the low end frequencies. So my thoughts are to try it in a ported enclosure and see how it responds. Problem is I have High QTS. What will happen and how will the sub react to a ported enclosure? If anyone has any input on how else to solve my issue or any ideas about the enclosure let me know, it's greatly a…
