I bought 2 used UFO motors and they are different motors completely. The one has "cuts" in the side around the slug in the black part and the other is just smooth.plus they seem to be different sizes? I already ordered the single slug recones. Are they OK to use together

This is for my buddy thats in Iraq. Im doing all of this for him while he is gone. The vehicle in a 2001 Chevy Silverado EXT Cab. He needs the back seat due to a child. http://www.supercrewsound.com/shop/detail/11/242.htm thats the box we decided on. He wont have to raise his seat any and it will fit no problem. Now the question is should he get 12" or 10" FI SSDs. if he gets the 12" they will be in about .71cuft each and if he gets the 10" they will be in about .73cuft. The amp is the Kicker ZX1500.1. He listens to rap/rock/country you name it he listens to it. What would you guys suggest? Would polyfill help the lack of space for the 12" Any help would be great guys.

Hey everyone Just a really simple question. The enclosure measurements for Fi speakers, are they measured before woofer displacement? Just need to clarify so I can build an optimal box with maximum air space. Thanks again!

So after selling my Avalanche, i put my 2 13kv.2's back in my car. This is when i realize how amazingly low the avalanche gets. I am almost set on purchasing a 15" BL to replace the avalanche, but i just want to be sure that i will not be dissapointed with the low frequencies. I know it will get loud, but hell my 13kv's matched my avalanche at certain frequencies too. (BL will be on 1200 watts in 3.5 @30hz if it matters much) Anyone with experience with an avalanche as well as a BL (or other Fi sub, i assume they are a bit similar) please give me some input. I want to be absolutely positive that the BL will be $300 well spent. thanks.

so i want to keep as much of my trunk as possible, so what im woundering is. My old box was like a perfect square, if the new box is the same cubic feet, but more rectangle than square so it will stay in the rear of my trunk. How will that effect the sound?

I recently bought a sp4 and i have it powered by a hifonics colossus, im getting a 350 amp alternator and just wondering if i need a bigger battery? Whats the point of a bigger battery cause once the car's started the alternator takes over for the electrical system right? The 350 amp alternator should be more than enough to give the amp all that it needs right?

Just a quick question, I planning on buying a 12" Q w/BP and I need to build an enclosure, going sealed. With dimensions of 19w 13h 11d, do I need to add int bracing? I was thinking just a strip of 2x2 along the top, back, and bottom. If it doesn't need bracing I can just make the box a little smaller to give the same volume Thanks, Chris

  13. So I unrapped my new toys today and put them in. But I want to make sure that I don't need to remove this bolt covering the pole. I'm thinking it's just there for shipping so nothing gets in, but no book = no idea. Great looking sub, and I'm happy. Perhaps someone could save the Fi guys some time and make up a generic 2 page book or something. You know like people always like to ask "where's the mounting holes" and now I'm asking about the allen bolt. etc. etc.

  14. So this is how much room I would like to use, but I have more room if necessary (I need some trunk space ) My dimensions are 33x21x17 and here is a picture with how what space I would like to take up. Just post your input on if this is good or if I should add more space for the box and how much! This should be around 6.817 cubes without any displacement. (btw this picture isn't mine I just googled what an 05 equinox trunk looks like, and no those side panels do not come out) hmm for some reason the picture came out a little blurry, but I think you should get the point and for the height I can also do up to about 21 inches so if i wanted to mount the sub back i cou…

I got a pair of Q15's yesterday. I put them in the box which is 3.5 cubes tuned to 28hz and they sounded different then anything else ive ever heard. As much as everyone praises the low-end ability of the Q it seemed to me that the higher notes(40-60hz) sounded louder. The low notes made a popping sound that sounded like it might be hurting the speaker. I called someone who runs the ssd series and he said he had the same problem. He told me to tune them to 32hz and it would fix it but the whole reason i wanted the Qs is to hit lows. Should i give the speakers some time to break in or is anyone else having this problem. 2 Q15s 2 MTX TA81001 Thanks Keith

Just bought a pair of the older double slug Q15's for my buddies install in his Suburban. Can't remember the specs of these models, so I wanted to get it straight from you guys at Fi. They are fully loaded and I also believe they are the high QTS models, as the previous owner had them installed in sealed boxes.... My friend is looking to have me design a sealed enclosure for them, and I am not sure what the recommended volume is for them. Can you help me out? They will be powered with an MB Quart Onyx 1000 @ 2 ohms for about 750 RMS to the pair. Possibly will add a second amp to power each sub on its own amp later down the road, but that has not been decided yet. Merry Ch…

ok guys, currently now I have an 18" BL fully loaded for daily. Its being powered by a JBL BP1200.1 at 1200 watts. Its in a 5 cu ft box tuned to 30Hz firing upward. The reason it is firing upward is because I cannot fit an 18" into my trunk rear facing. With a 15" though...I would be able to fit it rear firing into my trunk. So my question is...what sort of difference would i see? obviously i'd see a drop in ouput i'd imagine...but at the saem time, would it be noticable? Right now my BL is fully loaded for daily driving (daily option, flat wind, cooling). So at 1200 watts, even though its 200 over RMS, it isn't really pushing the sub to that much of its capability im gu…

Im purchasing 1 fi btl n2 18 inch, and im not sure whether to choose dual 1 ohm or dual 2 ohm. I have a 4000 watt mono amp with a lowest possible rating of 1 ohm. I used to have 2 12s but im moving to this 1 18 inch and wish to have it running at 1 ohm. Ive read around and from what ive heard, i should go with the dual 2 ohm sub, but i wanted to be sure before this purchase. thanks for your help

I would like to keep the enclosure as small as possible but within an optimal spec. What is the recommended enclosure size for my setup? Thanks edit change of plans

  25. Might be a dumb question but whatever I'm very new in box design and I did search but it wasn't easy describing this in a search. I have a box now THE's set up for 1 12" FI BTL tuned to 32hz mounted in my tunk facing the rear of my trunk. Box cu ft now with 1 sub counting displacment and vent is 3.75. I was thinking of installing a second one on the oppisite side of the box firing inside the cabin.... My question is: Will the sub work correctly and sound good this way? With a second sub including displacemnt the cu ft. would by 3.57 so according to specs thats slightly above the low end size for 2 FI BTL's correct? Any suggestions I would appreciate that help thanks gu…
