So I'm fixin to build a box to house an 18. I don't, however, know how to calculate my port size or to tune it. My maximum external dimensions are 35"W 30"D 17"H. I want the sub to face the ceiling of my vehicle. I don't know if thats gonna effect the port location or not. If someone could kindly walk me through the process of designing and sizing the port for my box, I'd be eternally greatful and totally post a picture log of the build process. Thanks in advance.

I already made one box that was 26x27.5x16 and it didnt fit in the trunk of my 94 accord I dont really have much room to work with I know 26x18x16 will work but is there any possible way I can get it tuned right? I will use aero ports or slot.

So I got 3 15 in dual 2s wired in series tuned to 33hz on an audiopipe 30001d amp isn't turned up a little under half no clipping and as normal subs gets a little warm never hot enough to where u can smell the coils burning up. Now my issue i ran into today Is I was listening to them going to lunch with no problems and shut the truck off and came back out and just turned system on and how I can describe it is one of the subs instantly started to make a distorted rattling noise... kinda sounds like the sub is farting all lower frequency but not noticeable at higher frequencys. I pulled speaker out and the coils dont have any noticeable scratching or rubbing.. Now I'm just …

So I unrapped my new toys today and put them in. But I want to make sure that I don't need to remove this bolt covering the pole. I'm thinking it's just there for shipping so nothing gets in, but no book = no idea. Great looking sub, and I'm happy. Perhaps someone could save the Fi guys some time and make up a generic 2 page book or something. You know like people always like to ask "where's the mounting holes" and now I'm asking about the allen bolt. etc. etc.

a question for the man shawn fleming and any body else that know about spl boxes.for spl only,which box would be louder for a btl-18 with 5000 watts.a 6.2cf box with 98 inches of port,tuned to 64 hz. 7 cf box with 114 inches of port at 64 hz or a 8.5 cf box with 138 inches of port tuned at 64 hz also.for spl burps only.this setup is going in a astro van,4-btl's 18's.trying to find best box config.with port on driver side.all thoughts are welcome and valued.thanks BP.

Hello guys, I am new to this site, and just getting back into car audio. I am planning to run a 15" Fi Q powered by a Cadence TXA-1000D. From what I have read I will benefit from a ported enclosure because I like to listen to rap and music of the like. I was planning on using a slot port enclosure because of the area required for these ports. I have used WinISD properly I believe and have gotten a 3.5 cf chamber tuned to 32 hertz. I used a port size of 3x16.5 and got a length of 29.35 inches. Does this sound remotely close? so, i got an enclosure built for my 12" BTL (single slug motor) but the magnet refuses to fit into the cutout. i was wondering what the cutout diameter would make it fit. i can't trim the cutout because its only enough for the cutout itself since the box is 14"H with only .25" clearance on the top and bottom.

Hello I have a ssd12+bp running off a Alphasonic 1200da at 4ohms. Rms is 1200 at 4 ohms BUT my electrical system is stock so with around 50-70 amps at 12.5-14 volt I believe Im only getting 550-700 watts to my sub. The 12 is in a slotported box with 1.6cuft tuned to 34 htz. I built the box for 2-12 so they each have their own seperate enclosure, but I can not see another SSD 12 in the near future cuase times are tuff. My question is this- If I build another box for my 1-12 at say 2.3cuft with a slotport tuned to 32 htz, what do you guys believe the difference would be? more SPL? I really would like it to BOOM harder, louder, higher spl. Im not into SQ so if that goes down…

what kind of grills are needed for the fi q 15 ? something strong to protect the sub. i have a suv and 2 kids, i don't want to worry about things getting thrown in back. most of the grills i have found don't have enough clearance for the full throw of the cone. looks are not an issue. if i can't find something soon i'm going to start welding my own.

Just recently pulled the trigger on a BL 12 cant wait for it to show up, and for some reason work thinks all the box calculator sites need to be blocked So here's my what i have BL12 d1vc powering it with a Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bdCP i need a box design max dimensions are 20Wx18Dx26H max its going in the backseat of a f-150 extended cab in place of the stupid little jumber seat behind the driver seat. I've decided on the 2 12" ssd's. Really excited for it! NOW..... the box Ive always wanted to try an aeroport so i can adjust tuning and uses less space. But heres the catch. I dont know what to do lol. The box dimensions im looking at are: Height: 15.5" Width: 31" Depth: 16" According to RE calculator (which i know is off a bit) is about 3.5 cubes with no port. With those dimensions above or similiar, what aeroport do i get!? where do i put it on the box? I want it to be tuned to 32-33 hz thnx guys !!!

Hey guys I was hopeing to get help on designing a box for my little brothers geo metro... He is over seas in the army and should be back in a few weeks so i decided i wanted to surprise him.. All I know is he doesnt want a wall built in the car (he likes his back window), So the max dimensions i have are 35" wide x 36" long x 20" tall. I have a mtx 1501d amp to push the beast so far and also dual alternators and 2 sp1000 stinger batteries. In order to get a 1 ohm load out of the 2OHM DVC, I wire the two negative terminals together with speaker wire coming out of one of them, and both the positive terminals with speaker wire coming out of the same set that the negative came out of right?

Ok I got 2 18" Qs in a 12 cu. box at 28 hz. I know thats just barely the minimum for them, but thats the most I can go. I was wondering if I switched to a sealed box around 13.6 cu. would be more appropriate for these woofers. I havent heard what a Q sounds like sealed before so I was just some opinions on what you guys think. The box would also have bracing inside, so after displacement it would be around 13 cu. Fully loaded BTL 15" w/ single saz1500d sounds like a whole bunch of sealed 10's. Except it goes lower and gets louder. The Police's greatest hits sounds great. I'm having some front stage issues, so I've been focusing on the bass... This BTL has great SQ! Better than my friends believed it would sound. Better than I expected too. I can't wait to add the other 1500d and 'glass the enclosure and also run a 100.4 on some CDT's.

HOw would 2 15 inch Bl's or Q's sound in a T-line? would it get really loud?

What size and how many aeroports should I use? I'm thinking 3x6" ports for ~85sqin? Is this about right?

Guys i am fully aware that the flatwind and the coppercoils are two options you can not get together... My question is why can they not be done together (i am trying to learn all i can about the build of these subs for sheer knowledge) ? I was guessing that scott hasn't found the right coil for the flatwind to get a favorable response to have both copper and flatwind.... And if there is any great advantages to having both, WILL they eventually be a way to get both options? And if you guys were to find a way to incorporate both will the Q later have an option for the copper coil (I suspect the Q has a flatwind on it, thus no option for a copper coil)?

Before i purchase the new baskets and recones i would just like to have some info or how to swap the motors from my 12'' q's to the new 15'' baskets? what kind of tools will i need and is it easy to do?

Gday all I am running two FI Q 12" D2's in a daily driver with a box that was built for it by a local car audio installer using a single round port. Sounds reasonable but no where near as loud as I expected from these speakers. I am driving them with a Hifonics 2k rms amp Boot mounted Optima inline with another optima under the hood. Also have a 2.5 Frd Cap. This is a boot mount install in a Aussie car Called a XR6 Family sized four door sedan.. ATM I have the speakers behind the back seat pointing into the car and the port facing the same way. Metered this setup at 132.5 before i upgraded the batteries seen alot better scores out of single speaker setups with similar siz…

Like the title says...I'm a noob, I just like alot of bass. so i just ordered a fully loaded BTL and was wondering if someone could help me get some dimensions for a box. The box can be about 35 long and 20 wide and however tall. I obviously want it to be ported. Also, I was checking out the RE calculator..Is that accurate at all? If someone has some box dimensions for a box they built themselves for their BTL I would love to see them. Thank you
