Foreward fire in a trunk, which of these three boxes are better. The smaller the box the closer the back of the box is from the back of the sub. All are from RE's box calculator. Each box has 16 square inches of port per cubic foot, the first two are off by -.003- & +.008 sq in. The box is 23-26 deep, is that bad for dampening? How far should the back of the magnet be from the box? 2 Fi BTL 12" 4-6kw @ 1ohm 2.46 cubic feet each @ 34.75 HZ with 78.75 square inches of port, box face is 17 x 37. Now for the axcual question i listen to rap/hip hop, trance, and alternative rock and i have no clue what so ever on the enclosure that i need to use for the type of music i listen to. I have no idea on tuning ports. I would really appriciate if poeple could help me out to get what im supposed to use. Im looking to get a ported enclosure and this will be used in a Blazer(SUV). BTW how many cubic feet would be good for the sub. Im not looking into getting a humungous box in my cargo area. THNX

Ok, I Have the Pioneer AVH-P5000 HU, an AQ-2200 amp, and 2 Fi Q 15s that are in a 5.5 cu.ft ported enclosure after all displacement that is tuned to 35 Hz. The HU has a RAC output of 4 Volts so i match that voltage as close as possible (3.9V). I tuned my enclosure to 35Hz so my Subsonic level is set to 30Hz. I know that the gain is the most important setting to any amp, followed by the Subsonic filter if you have a ported enclosure. Now am trying to find out how to set my Bass Boost and Low Pass Filter. I looked through the forum found info on the Gain and Subsonic filter but couldnt find anything on the BB or LPF. Are they just set by ear or do they have parameters. Can …

I've got a Q15 with BP Power in 4 cubes @ 32Hz with 58.5 sq. inches of port powered by a Sundown Audio SAE-1000D in my grand marquis, and I want to try a new enclosure. This is a trunk car and the seats do not fold down. What were your favorite enclosure specs for the Q15?

I have a 15" Loaded BTL that is in 4cubes. The box is .75 MDF. I will rebuild the box, should I doublewall anything other than the front baffle? I will probably resin the inside of the box, as well as brace it at several places.

I just ordered my 2 12's with BP power option...just for good measure. I'm gonna have a T20001bd on em. I want to port em. How do you think 1.8 cubes ported to 32Hz for each sub would sound? Do I need to push for 2 cubes? I don't have much room in my car...but here's a pic of the trunk space I have with my previous setup. That was just 2 JL 10w3v3's I'm thinking of running the boxes along the side where the old ones were. So how would 1.8 sound? Still jam the subs hard, or do I need to go for 2 cubes or even more? More than 2 would be pretty tough, but I wanna build the fiberglass boxes once...gonna be alot of work.

can anybody help me with box design? i was just gonna make a box similar to the one i have in my escape for the ssd 12's but i kinda want something a little better. i listen to every type of music from bass music to jazz to rock. so the box would have to be versitile. the twelves only have copper coil option. i need help because the space is limited. i have a huge trunk but for some reason benz decided that was also a good place for the gas tank and spare. i am thinking that the port(s) should face up through the space in the rear deck that will be cutout. i have two sets of max measurements because one way the box would have to partially cover my amp and the other way it…

Hello, I'm lookin at getting an 18" BL, but my major problem is that my trunk is too short to fit an 18" sub in facing the rear of the car. So I came up with a slightly angled design that would shorten it by a couple of inches. My question, however, is if the basket of the sub will hit the bottom of the box at any part, since the sub is sitting at an angle. I drew up a diagram in Paint of the exact lengths and angles. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So, I ordered 2 SSD 12's last week, (currently have 2 Pioneer 307's in a ported box I made a while back) I was just wondering how to make a decent ported box for the new subs. Car is a 97 eclipse, and the dimensions I got were (15h x 36w x 20d inches) I might be able to go .5in more on the height and depth. Would the height of the port be 13.5in? What should the length and width be? I'm using BassBox 6 Pro but when I put in the info for the port it adds to the total volume of the enclosure which for some reason makes me think it is going to come out wrong when I build it. Any help will be appreciated. I'll be powering them with a RF P1200.2 Thanks.

I'm getting away from a ported box with my X 10" and going small sealed like .6ft^3. So what kind of power would get it rocking pretty good. I'm thinking around 300 but currently have 160 on it and love it. I want more sq and not so loud as ported. I love the sub and don't want a different one just different sound.

So my buddy has the newest version of the 12" Type R that he wants to upgrade. Here's the details, and hopefully I can give enough info. He has an ONX1.1500. He also has EQ'ing at 30, 45, 60, and I think 80hz. We'll make a ported box, but it'll need to be on the smaller side, maybe 3-3.5ft^3 net. His Type R is tuned to 33hz at ~1.5ft^3 net, I know that's not the only way to judge things, but he may want to go a bit lower on tuning frequency, maybe 28-30hz (this is in a 2000 Explorer btw, and any port frequency opinions for this sub are definitely appreciated). This dude needs a tough sub, he can be hard on stuff He wants loud, and if he goes on a trip, he may play the su…

Im looking at getting 2 subwoofers. Trying to decide between the SSD10, SSD12, Q10, or Q12. This will be a sealed with about .9 to 1.2 of airspace-haven't decided, depends on subs. Between the SSD and the Q which sounds better sealed/louder in sealed. What options would be best. I have read the descriptions of the different wires and still dont know what peaking is meant to be. -what effects will the flatwind coil or copper have on the power handling and sound quality and loudness. Peaking? better for sealed? -Is the BP option worth it in sealed. Will any of the options help reduce the subs heat in the seal enclosure. The subs will be sharing the power of a kicker zx…

Hey scott, nick, or shawn, What box size and tuning frequency do yall suggest for my sub? The box I have it in now just isnt working. The sub sounds like it is bottoming out on certain frequencies and i only have the gain about a half of the way up. Its currently in a 2 cu. ft enclosure tuned to 33Hz. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
