I have a 07 Tahoe and 2 BL dual 1 ohm 18s on a hifonics BXi 2010. I was looking to add 2 more 18 BLs in a 18cu. ft. ported box tuned to 32Hz. I also wanted to upgrade my amps to 2 RF T2500-BDs strapped at 2ohms. My question is will this be too much power for the subs? They are fully loaded for daily use. Please help. Thanx.

Ok, since i've got the new amplifier, I was looking into the bl's a little and keep seeing all these posts about them missing out on the low end, (ie sub 35 hz). Is this true? My enclosure is tuned to 27hz at 8.18 cu ft and the Q's perform awesome in it. I want to go with the BL's because they will handle a little more power than the Q's because I'll be running a IA 40.1. How do you guys think they will perform in that enclosure tuned to those specs? If they won't handle the bottom end like the Q's, I am also looking at the AA Havocs, and I've read that they handle the low bass frequencies pretty well like he q's. Feel free to chime in with any responces. thanks

  5. I'm only going to be running around 700 - 1100 watts rms to the sub when playing music. Probally no more than 10 min sessions. And the sub will probally move no more than 3/8 of an inch in excursion each way. Will I have any problems with this small amonunt of excursion?

  6. im running 2 fully loaded 15" btl's D2 of of 2 ia 20.1's. each amp is seeing a 1 ohm load and it doesnt seem as loud as it should be or as loud as what i was expecting. my box is 9 cubes after displacement, and is tuned to right about 34 hz. im wondering if my port area is to large, im running right now with 157.5 in^2 of port area and used 12 in^2 per cubic foot when designing it. box is 12.73 cubes before displacement. this is in an extended cab 06 silverado and it pounds the lows dont get me wrong, but i expected it to be louder then what it is. i can always make a port plug but have never done one and am wondering if i do need one, what would would you recommend me to…

Hi, sorry to cross post. I just put this in the wrong section the first time... This i what i'm working with: 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Quad Cab Big 3 upgraded 2- 15" fi BL 2- kicker zx1000.1 3/4" MDF custom center console box with 5.6 cuft of airspace after sub disp, bracing, and port. Would love to have a bigger box, but space is LIMITED. No divider between subs/ subs share air space Single Slot Port is 15.5" x 3" and 14.75" long (around 32 hz?) Subs will be down firing and port will face up. Definitely SPL Questions: 1- Are the port dimensions correct for a 32 hz tune? I keep getting different measurements depending on the port calc I use. I think carstereo.com…

I plan on ordering a SSD 18" pretty soon and I'm attempting to make my own box. I'm only 16 and I'm not very good at math so if you guys could help me it would be greatly appreciated. I used the box calculator over at ssa and this is what I got. The 18" SSD needs 6-10cuft and needs to be tuned at 33hz, well I came up with some numbers and I got 19.5"H/ 36"W/ 18.5"D and after displacement that gives me 5.9cuft. And then it gives me the port length, area, and volume. (Port Length = 0.722 inches) (Port Area = 7.069 inches squared) (Port Volume = 0.003 ft cubed) What do I do with those numbers? I have no idea of how to tune a port or anything like that so I will need some he…

What up everyone! Newbie to this forum!!! Just want some opinions on going sealed with my Q18s. I read a couple of threads on here were some folks are running their Qs in sealed enclosures and they seem to like it. Currently mine are in a 12.3cu enclosure tuned to 30hz and I pulled a 146 @ 39hz with it. Here a link to my current build http://www.*****.com/board/ind...?showtopic=3714 Vids http://www.*****.com/board/ind...?showtopic=8473 I've got good sq now but want better and I think going with a big sealed enclosure would do it. Want you guy's opinions! Thanks!

I'm about to purchase one to go with my JBL 1200.1 Plan is to make a sealed enclosure. I have up to 3 cubes to work with and I see that Fi recommends 2-2.6 What size should I make it? I'm looking for deep and tight bass. I love low lows and when the sub just slams. Other question is weight. How much does a Q15 weigh? Last question is can I run the full 1200 watts to the Q15? thank you

  16. I want to buy 2 Fi BTL 18'' with 4000 to 5000 rms each. they will be in a 2006 ford F-150 in a "blow through" i still dont have any amps, i normally listen to music with low notes. some guy told me that if i order a sub with 5k i could not play it for more than 30 sec cause it would burn. would that be true. how much would a sub run of this type?

K, now I know what you are all going to say, BUT before you do please give this a read. I have a pair of BTL 15's (D2) that I am planning on running with a pair of SAZ-3000D's I know the box recommendation is 3-5ft^3, with the power, would I be better off staying on the smaller side? I know when you start going bigger the mechanical ability sub goes down, but the trade off is more forcefull bottom end (which I would like to have). I'm planning to have between 6-8ft^3 net enclosure tuned fairly low around 30-32hz Just curious as to what you guys think about my ideas

Looking to purchase 15" ssd d1 and it will be powered by a soundstream ref1.1000 (1000watts@2ohm). Have always wanted to do a single 15 sealed. So question is; should my enclosure be closer to 2 cuft or 3 cuft. I listen to mainly, metal, rap and techno. Any input on what size enclosure will work best for my music preferences would be greatly appreciated. Thnx. Mark Oh yeah, car is a 2001 VW Jetta. If that matters. Cheers

All of my subs I own have the positive terminal on the left and negative on the right. Whether they be single or dual they are always in this fashion. I ordered a 15 sexxx recone for a se and a claw basket. I also ordered new terminals and wanted to make sure that I'm not going to install them incorrectly. My glue should be here in a day or so(I hope) and would like to start when it arrives. Thanks CJ

Ok, well i had no idea about tuning or anything when i made my first box. its 9.5 cubic ft with 90 in of port area, and i ran the port length till about the back of the box. ( pics soon). what i was wondering is can anyone provide me with the actual formula for calculating my port length. ( so i can just plug in hz volume and port area? ive got some calculators but like to see everything out. here is what im trying to accomplish by just cutting the box. 34 hz tuning 7.5 cubic ft 90in squared of port area if i my box in a 01 grand am running from my trunk to my back seat, with the btl right in the back seat and the port under it. if i put the port in the trunk would it mak…

Should the ports be on the same side as sub is on or not? I want my BTL's to fire up and the ports to fire up to. Does it matter where the port is on the box? Would it hit harder with the subs and port towards the back of my excursion? Thanks...

about to drop in a pair of d2 bl 15's loaded for daily to replace my d1 q's (to go a little easier on my american bass vfl 200.1, thing smoked on me before and cost over 300 to fix) in 8.2 cubes @ 32 hz. was pushing the q's to their limits, about 1300 watts each, and raising the load to 1.4 ohms (3kw at 1 ohm) i'll probably be giving the bl's about the same power, maybe a tad more. can i expect the bl's to be louder across the board? will they still pick up the lows as well as the q's did or will i need more power to get that low end extension?
