I just got a 1998 blazer (4 door) and transferred over my Sundown Audio SAE-1200D and 12" BL from my 99 grand am. The box is 2.5 cuft AFTER sub and port dislacement, tuned around 32-34hz (can't remember exactly off the top of my head) I have upgraded the BIG 3 with 1/0ga wire, ran conduit along the frame rail with 1/0ga to the amp. In my grand am I LOVED it, but now in the blazer it seems to be lacking... not sure what exactly, but it doesn't seem to rattle my noggin like it did in the grand am. My question is should I look at building another enclosure that would work better for the blazer? If so, how many cuft? tuned to? how should the sub and port face? Or is the blaz…

I just ordered a FI ssd 12 inch subwoofer, a Kicker zx750.1 amp, and 4 ga wire kit. I previously built a 4.0 cu ft box out of 3/4 mdf. I was wondering if the ssd would be alright in this box. Also how long would the port need to be if using 3" dia. pvc pipe so it is tuned to 33 hz? Thanks.

Hey guys i have a couple of questions, i got a saz1500d, and i am going to be ordering a 15q, should i run the sub at 2 ohms (800watts rms) or 1 ohm (1500rms)? Right now i only have 4 ga running to the back, will that be okay if i run it at 1ohms or should i stick with 2 ohms, I am going to run the most likely sealed in a 2.5 cu ft box. i have a 09 toyota corolla, not that much trunk space, or will it sound better in a 3 cu ft box ported? If you guys have any other helpful tips please let me know. Thanks

Before I explain my question I want to say I know WinISD is not going to accurately represent the output in a car, I am just using it to get a general idea of the frequency response shape of the box itself. I am trying to help a friend decide on what subs to get for his new setup. I am strongly pushing a pair Fi 12's and he asked me to design a box for him. With most drivers I put into WinISD a get reasonable looking response curves when putting in the recommended enclosure specs, and then I go on and alter designs from that point. Hi. Im from Romania and i bought 8 or 9 months ago a FI Q 12''. As far as i know there are 2 speakers sent in Romania A FI Q 12 AND A 15. OK i have a little big problem with my fi q 12 sub. the spider has unsticked , or broked , from the center of VC or how is called in english and that makes the sub scratch if i play music. i stopped the music since that day cuz even if i slowly hit with my finger the surface is does pack pack !!! oufull sound. and... i expected more from Fi ... i never tought it will broke. by the way the voice coils are intact. tHE power that the sub recieved was 900 w/ 1 ohm . thanks ... i hope u can help me. http://img76.imageshack.us/my.php?image…

The motors on these woofers look almost identical. I know both woofers are made out of the same build house. Is there any difference in the motors? I know Xcon is more of a sound quality woofer, Im a owner, and the BTL is more of a SPL woofer. Is it the soft parts and the coil that make them sound different? Please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

Hey guys! I was wondering what any of you with a Q 18 set your crossover or lpf to? Also what type of crossover? Right now I have BW and LR filters to choose from, 6, 12, 18, or 24db/octave and 12 and 24db/octave, respectively. A simple frequency recommendation would be great though, hehe. I have tried many values from 70 to 180Hz but can't really decide. Are there any tests I could do to help me decide? Right now I have it at 127Hz 24dB LR which seems to be fine but I still feel indecisive. Thanks!

i need a box design for 2 18" btls. i have enough trunk space but where the port and subs would fire kinda confuse me. the dimesions of my trunk are 27x42x25. would that be enough to run 2 btls with port area? can you even run the btls sealed. i never see anyone talk about sealing them. please help cause i am tryna purchase these subs and keep it movin. hallelujah holla back.

Do you think 2 loaded BTL's with daily option will work with 4 SAZ-3000D's in a SPL only setup (burp). This will be a 16 volt system and box after sub and port displacement will be 8.75 cubic feet tuned to 50hz. If not what subs.

I opened my trunk this morning to find my Q15 had puked out a fairly hefty metal object and blew the dustcap off. I believe this happened listening to the sub well below tuning freq. (tuned to 30 hz. and playing "late Nite tip" by Three Six Mafia) What is this piece of metal and what purpose does it serve? You could stick your hand through the middle of the sub and this piece would have prevented that from happening. If this can be glued back in what do I use? CA glue? The sub still works but i want to fix it before playing it again. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

If I choose to invert my subwofer so that the magnet is outside of the box, shoould the box be any different than if it were mounted regularly?

Hey guys, I just want to get some input on a burp box for 2 12" BL's fully loaded. This will be for a cross over and running 1000 or 2000 watts. Right now the system is up to 148.4 on 1800 watts with a some what music box. What I want to do is build the burp box so the subs are back and the port on the side. The info and input I need is the size of the box and the size of the port. Im 99% set on using a aeroport and was thinking 8" but would 8" be to small? Some people say the box needs to be big like 5 cubes and some say small like 3 cubes. So im a bit lost on where to start lol.

I recently bought a sp4 and i have it powered by a hifonics colossus, im getting a 350 amp alternator and just wondering if i need a bigger battery? Whats the point of a bigger battery cause once the car's started the alternator takes over for the electrical system right? The 350 amp alternator should be more than enough to give the amp all that it needs right?

okay so i have an old three stack magnet btl twelve if i bought a new single stack btl 12 would it be worth it thanks.

I am running 3 Fi Q15's. The box is 10.2cuft internal after port and sub displacement. The port is 5" x 28.5" and 26.25" long. Is that a proper amount of port area? That should put my tuning right around 32hz.

What is the 15" bl in sd or the cone area in inches not sq inches.

Guys, I know the BTL enclosure recommendation for the 15" BTL is 3-5 cubes net, however I also know that required volume is also dependent on power supplied. I was wanting to know if there would be any problems with running (3) 15" BTL's in a 8 cube net shared chamber enclosure? I should have roughly 3500 watts on tap for each sub, but I will not submit them to that much power, I was just wondering what I could get away with in terms of enclosure size? This is a daily beater.

I am on the verge building an 8 cube sealed box for a Fi Q18 which I will be buying in the next 2 weeks. I was set on everything until I came across one question. Do I need to have a 1 inch baffle? I plan on double baffle flush mounting. I was going to build is all from 3/4" MDF with a lot of internal bracing. No polyfill since I am maxing out the dimensions. My dimensions are: W:40" D:21" H:21" (will fit nicely in the spot of the room i picked ) Besides the baffle question, does anyone see any problems with my plans?

Hey scott, nick, or shawn, What box size and tuning frequency do yall suggest for my sub? The box I have it in now just isnt working. The sub sounds like it is bottoming out on certain frequencies and i only have the gain about a half of the way up. Its currently in a 2 cu. ft enclosure tuned to 33Hz. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab, and I want a "system". I have figured up that I have about 1.7-1.8 cubes of space behind the seat. I was originally wanting 2 12's, but I would still like to have the massive amount of storage space that Dodges have. So I was just wonding if I could fit an SSD 15 behind my passenger seat. The top of the box will be 6.5" deep, and the bottom will be 10.5" deep. The reason for going with a 15 instead of a 12, is just for the coolness factor of saying, "Yeah, I've got a 15". I know to pilot my screws, but the problem is i'm using 1 front baffle for the sub, and maybe i'm wrong, but i just dont see 3/4" screw holding that for that long. am i wrong or am i supposed to use a different kind of screw?

ok i have a 15" fi btl with a sundown audio saz2000d. i built a box (3/4 mdf) with 4.5cubes of air space after sub displacement. i have it tuned to 33hz,(slot port) it sounds pretty good, i think , loudest sub i have ever own lol... im just wondering if it wouldsound better if i seal off the port and add some round flared ports ?? any thougths ? ideas ? sorry for the stupid question... please sum help... should i leave my box alone ? build a new one ??

I need help on how to fix my torn surround. Can I get a replacement from Fi and repair it myself or do I have to send it in? Is there a proven way to fix a tear in a foam surround other than shoe goo? Also, can you determine the options a sub has without tearing the speaker apart? Thanx guys.
