Ok, so I was wondering. A 12 in it's largest recommended enclosure, or a 15 in its smallest recommended enclosure, which has the more potential to get louder? Playing around with ideas here. Thanks, ~Trevor

I have an 03 nissan xterra, so im sure there is enough room for a box in there, but the problem is, i barely know anything about sound systems and their setup/ configurations. If anyone could please explain what i would need, i would appreciate it. Im getting a new double din headunit, 2 door speakers w/ tweeters, (Which i will wire to the headunit) I plan on getting the n2 18 What amp, would be best to run this at its best performance daily? hey guys, i would like to know what you think of this box, im a some what noob/mid level at box building SUB- ssd12 basic with maybe a flatwire option AMP- rocksford t500.1bdcd, the birthsheet on this amp say it does 810watts at 1 ohm, which is what i will be running it at. here is the box http://s1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg580/ott9311/?action=view¤t=a1_zpsf9dcb1d5.jpg please give me any input u would have, i listen to alot of rap/hip hop so im tuning for 33hz i know im prob under powering the sub, but i thought in a ported box you could under power it by a LITTLE bit. based on my above state facts, should i make the box any smaller or bigger? more or less po…

Ok guys I need a little input on a few things. First off, I was running two FI Q 15's off of a 40.1 @ 1 ohm in a 8cuft box ported to 28hz and blew one to hell and the other one's coil is burnt like a motha... So I was thinking of going with either one 18 BTL or two 15 BTL's off of the 40.1 @ 1 ohm. What do you think? Either setup will be tuned to 32hz. I was planning on modifying the current box if I go the 15 route, but if I go with the 18, the box will be around 7.5~8 cuft tuned to 32hz. This will be a daily driver setup.

Hello, today was one of the worst days ever, and what happened I thought never would, but it. So I'm here today to ask for advice. I was mounting the sub (15 fI Bl) and my hand slipped and ripped the outer foam ring around the sub. It's closer outside towards the steel ring where the holes are, and you can't see it unless you fold the ring. I managed to stop and retract and not run the whole screw drover through, but it did rip. Upon inspecting it closely I lost no material, it's just a 1/8 inch long tear. My question is this fixable? In been reading like crazy and can only see two common solutions. Silicone or superglue. I am leaning more towards the silcone because it w…

Ok, well i had no idea about tuning or anything when i made my first box. its 9.5 cubic ft with 90 in of port area, and i ran the port length till about the back of the box. ( pics soon). what i was wondering is can anyone provide me with the actual formula for calculating my port length. ( so i can just plug in hz volume and port area? ive got some calculators but like to see everything out. here is what im trying to accomplish by just cutting the box. 34 hz tuning 7.5 cubic ft 90in squared of port area if i my box in a 01 grand am running from my trunk to my back seat, with the btl right in the back seat and the port under it. if i put the port in the trunk would it mak…

Hello, I'm thinking about getting 1 18" bl sub pretty soon, so I'm designing the enclosure now to make sure it fits. I have a 2000 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, so the trunk is pretty big. I want to do a sub up, port back enclosure, but I'm open to anything. I'd like to get it around 7ft^3. Here are a couple pics from a crown vic's trunk. I wrote in my trunk dimensions on one of them. They are (as accurate as I could get ) 26"D x 41"W x 20" H (13" clearance under the spare tire, 20" for the whole trunk) Heres a video with the kind of enclosure I would like to build Would this be possible in my trunk? Also, what dimensions should I be looking at for my port? I'm a…

My buddy is trying to put a 18" fi ssd fully loaded in the back of his eagle summit van.. He has about 1200 watt rms of power to run the sub.. There is two different set of max dimensions we can use ( it all depends on how tall the box will actually be. The first set is a tall narrow box and our max dimensions are 27 1/4 tall X 39 wide X 15 Deep. And the other set is 20 1/2 deep X 39 wide X 21 tall. Any help would be wonderful... Would really like start build on box as soon as we can.. Also I would like it ported wit a tune right around 32 hz. And I not sure wat would sound best wit the speaker direction and port direction so any advice is wonderful.

I haven't built it yet I am just exploring options and found a design I kind of like. 8 cu. ft. tuned to 34 hz with 101.25 square inches of port. The port opening will be 4.5 " wide and 21.5" long. The box dimensions are 33x24x27.5 overall. It will be a crx style box , and will go inside of the cab of a 2000 chevy silverado. I plan on pointing the port towards the driver's side and have the sub behind the passengers seat. Do these specs seem alright to everyone? Would a different direction with the ports yield better results? Does that tuning seem alright or should I go lower/ higher? I want SPL but also enjoy the low notes that a highly tuned box sometimes lack. If any…

Hey so i want to tune my box to 32 hz. but i am confused on how this whole box design works. The previous systems that i have had i just bought boxes, but this time i want to build my own. I drive a jeep cherokee so I have plenty of room in the back end for a big box. 1 12" Fi Btl sub. Dual 2 ohm, fully loaded. Brand new. (I have not purchased it yet, but when I do, this is what I am going to buy) Wheel well to wheel well is about 42 inches. Back seat to back door is about 25 inches due to my seat coming out at an angle. (I lose about 8 inches) The floor of the back end to the roof is about 38 inches. The floor to the top of my backseat is about 18.5 inches. Here are some…

I am hoping some one can help me design a ported box for a single 12" Q I am going to run it off of a DLS A6, 1200 watts rms x 1 @ 1 ohm the DLS amp only has a subsonic filter fixed at 25 Hz. The dimensions that will fit in the trunk of my 2003 Nissan Altima are: 33" Length x 14" Height x ? Depth is the only variable my front stage consists of DLS UP6 (6.5" components, mid in doors and tweeters in A-pillars) the front stage is bi-amped and ran off of a Tru Technology B-745 ( 100 watts rms x 4) my goal is for the sub to blend well with the front stage and to sound musical and dynamic.

Hello, This is my first time building a box. I would like to hear any thoughts you might have before I get to building. I just recently purchased 2x FI Q 12's dual 1's with cooling, and spider. I designed a box for a 2002 gmc envoy. These subs will be pushed by a Crescendo BC2000D. (May eventually upgrade to a 3500 or 2x 2000's). Box is 5.0 cu ft and is tuned around 32hz. Heres what I came up with. My main concern is if I did the port length correctly and if I calculated the bracing displacement correctly.
