Hello all Long story short. My friend told me to check out FI Audio. I surfed through the FI forums for days and have concluded that the SSD or Q line sub woofers will do everything I need. There are several extra options for each series. I ask you experts, what do you think is best for my application. Ohm load on the amps and cuft of the box are limiting factors. Amps: Two RF 500m's (if you are not familiar with the watts RMS or ohm configurations of these amps ask...I will explain them) Ohms limitations: min 2ohm mono load per amp or min 4ohm load in a bridge mono configuration using both amps. Box Space Ideal limit: 4cuft total or less Open options: speaker siz…

I was wondering if any one knows the true RMS rating for the Earthquake PHD5000, Kicker 1200.1, Massive audio P3000.1, AUTOTEK MM4000D, MA AUDIO HK802SX, Orion 2100, and Hifonics bxi2006d or Hifonics bxi1606d? I am just trying to figure out witch amps to go with when I run my stereo. If any has tested any of these amps please let me know. Also I would like to know if any one has ran one 12" BTL daily in a trunked car and had it metered to music? If so please post your scores on here along with pics of your installs or your car getting the score. Once I get mine I will let you know what it does with a bunch of different amps. Hopefully I will have it posted on here by next…

  5. So, here is my problem. I am going to be running one sub and I have a slight "Monk" issue...for those of you who know that show. I feel like things have to be balanced out. So, I want to put my sub in the middle of the enclosure and would like to have two ports, one on each side. Is this clausable and how do I go about figuring out how much port area I need. The specs say 12-16 sq inches of port per cu ft of box volume. So I am planning around 40 sq inches of port area total. Would this be 20sq in per port or am I calculating this incorrectly. Any and all help would be happily listened to. Thanks

Ok I have a x 10" with single magnet structure. Svc 4 ohm. I need this sub to be a svc 2 ohm and have a small tear in surround fixed. I have emailed fi twice on this and gotten no response. Anyone know how much it would cost or anything about reconing this?

Well my 1 18in fi bl mag cracked. Dont ask me how lets just say that i am very sad that this happen. And another bad thing that happen is one of the voice coils went bad in it to. I took one of the subs out of the box cuz i heard alot of buzzing. Then saw that the top magnet of the motor was split in half. I dont know why this would happen but it went from me bumpin super hard to only bumping a little with one sub. So if anyone has a BL motor please let me know or give me some info on how i can get it replaced thanks.

  9. Since my second Q is getting here tomorrow, I thought why dont I start working on the box like tomorrow or Saturday since I have nothing better to do on those days.. So I was hoping that there is someone around here that is an expert at box designs and cutout measurements could help me on making a design and measurements then I'll build it... The box is going to be for 2 15 inch Fi Q's.. Ported.. I would like the subs firing upwards and port firing towards the hatch.. Also, I want it to be tuned at 32hz.. It will be going in my explorer.. so the max dimensions I got: Height: 16 1/2 inches Length: 41 1/2 inches Width: This wont matter, I got plenty of room, but would li…

Could one of you check my port length for me? 4 cubes @ 32Hz with 2.75" wide x 20.5" tall port is what I'm aiming for. I used an online calculator and it said the port needed to be 29.5" long... but someone else told me it needed to be like 36.5"? Thanks a lot

Should the ports be on the same side as sub is on or not? I want my BTL's to fire up and the ports to fire up to. Does it matter where the port is on the box? Would it hit harder with the subs and port towards the back of my excursion? Thanks...

  13. i have four btl 18s. is it safe to try to drill the terminals to make them just a little bit wider? i cant fit a full piece of 8 gauge into one terminal, i have to trim it just a little bit. and trying to fit two 8 gauge wires into one terminal i might as well just use 12 or 14 gauge because i have to trim the 8 gauge down so much its ridiculous. how bout taking either a unibit/varibit/stepbit (call it what u want), or a slightly bigger drill bit and try to make them bigger? extremely bad idea and i'm gonna end up needing to replace something because i'll break something? or be very careful and go slow and it will work? 2000 rms u would think u could fit a big ass wire …

I have 4 fully loaded 18 btls in a 20cuft ported enclosure..dual 1 ohm subs.. I have the option of using 1 or 2 jbl a6000 amps to power them. My installer thinks that using both amps will blow the subs. He hooked up both amps and said the woofers started smelling. When he used 1 he said it was actually louder. I think he may be trying to save me from replacing subs over and over. Will using both of theses amps eventually blow the subs? If I get 2 more and put 3 on each amp will it see a 4 ohm mono load...something like the JL w7s? Thanks for any help

I have 10 foot of it to go from the box to the amp, and while I haven't seen the sub yet, I'm having a hard time seeing 8 gauge in a 1ohm configuration on the coils. Will it fit? Or should I use 12 gauge for inside the box? (This isn't really a question about power...I already have 10 foot of 8 gauge so it's more availability. I'd have to go buy anything but the 8 which I have)

Ok I got 2 18" Qs in a 12 cu. box at 28 hz. I know thats just barely the minimum for them, but thats the most I can go. I was wondering if I switched to a sealed box around 13.6 cu. would be more appropriate for these woofers. I havent heard what a Q sounds like sealed before so I was just some opinions on what you guys think. The box would also have bracing inside, so after displacement it would be around 13 cu. Let me know thanks ps..... the woofers would be facing towards the back

I'm about to purchase one to go with my JBL 1200.1 Plan is to make a sealed enclosure. I have up to 3 cubes to work with and I see that Fi recommends 2-2.6 What size should I make it? I'm looking for deep and tight bass. I love low lows and when the sub just slams. Other question is weight. How much does a Q15 weigh? Last question is can I run the full 1200 watts to the Q15? thank you

  25. Can anyone recommend one? I purchased a dual 2 ohm Fi BL 15 and my current amp does not have a subsonic filter (which the install guy says will be needed to best tune the system). Some of the amps on the SSA website don't tell me what load they are stable at in Mono.
