I'm needing some advice on a box design for a 18" btl (old style) going in the back of a 1996 gmc suburban. Its a daily driver (no competitions) and Im looking for decent sound quality while hitting low and hard. I listen to mostly rap music and a little r & b. Not sure which way I should face the sub or the port or any of the box details to best suit my needs. Space should not be a issue since its going in suburban. Here are some other details about the install. Amp: Memphis 16-2000d (old school mojo) Components: 2 sets of CDT CL-61A w/ a kicker zx200.2 amp Electrical: 200 HO alternator and 2 yellow tops. 1/0 monster cable everywhere Head Unit: Jensen vm9411x (Yes …

At the moment I am really thinking of running 2 12" BTLs. I know this may be a dumb question, but hey, I am new and gotta learn somehow....anyway, how do the 12" BTLs sound. I have heard some subs where the 12" would sound horrible (imo) but the 15 sounded great....both in the optimum setup and tuning. Just like some subs aren't really recommended for certain types of enclosures or applications....is it ok to use 2 12" BTLs for a daily driver or would it be more beneficial to use the BLs due to application types.

I'm Looking At Building A Ported 8 Cubic Foot Box For The SSD 18. Someone Couldn't Help Me With The Dimensions And Port Size, Could They? I'd Seriously Like...Appreciate It. Also Specs For A Square Port Or A Slot Port, And How You Make A Square One. I Suppose Its Just A Hole In The Box Panel? The Sub Is Firing Up, Port Firing Back.

I am looking at getting a 10" Q. Would a Crunch GP2250 be a good choice of amp if I got the dual 2 ohm? I would bridge the amp and wire the sub at 4ohm. If I'm not mistaken then that would be 1000w rms, right?

Got my car back from the dealer service dept. and my 10" rockford T2 was fried. Rockford doesn't offer a recone and the parts distributor that they referred me to says they have a really long back order on parts. I was wondering if it's possible to do anything with it? It was a pretty decent driver, and i would hate to just throw it away if there is an alternative. thanks!

  14. Im looking at this... for one Fi 18" BTL.... internal dimensions of: 17"H x 29.5"W x 31.5"D I subtracted .26 for speaker displacement, 1.428 for port displacement, and just guessed around .2 for bracing displacement (im mostly gonna use .75" threaded rods and some 2x2)... and I came up with a NET Volume of 7.25 cubes and the port is gonna be 17"h x 6"w x 26"d (with a total of 102 sq "/ 14.06 cubic inches each ft3) ...I came up with a 33.22 hz tune with all this..... can ya'll review these specs, and let me know if this all seems correct? I would greatly appreciate it!!! :foshizzle: thanks, john

so what would the difference be if u had 1 fi 18btl fully loaded daily running 4000watts rms or if you had 2 18bl's loaded running 4000watts i would imagine that the 2 bl's would be louder cause more air movement? i dunno i just got done reading the efficency post that was like 8 pages about 500watts to the btl or for that matter what db increases would you be looking at it you ran the btl18 at 2000watts rms vs 4000watts rms what are the sound characteristics between the btl and the bl ? if the recommended box size is 5-10 cubic feet does that mean that the 10 cu ft will hit lower take less power to get louder but can blow easier? and what would the difference be between …

i read the guide on here for the ssd's, and its a pretty wide range of sizes. I have plenty of room, and was thinking tuning to 32hz and about 16-17 cubes gross. Will be subs up and port back in expedition running off 1 saz1500d. Any suggestions, or does that sound like good place to start? thanks

12" Fi Q with a rockford fosgate punch p1000-1bd Dual 2ohm coil sub wired to 1ohm in parallel 2.5cuft ported box in a 02 Impala tuned to 32hz ------------------- Is this a good setup and how will it sound. I listen to rap & want good sq but also want to blow people away. I also have a couple questions about the setup & about the sub -will it work & are there any changes or other amps that that can make it better for cheaper? -is the rf a good amp? -what component speakers/tweeters should I use? -should i upgrade any electrical (i will go to a yellow top battery already)? -will my alternator hold up to it (i know nothing about my alternator)? -do i need a cap?…
