Ok, I am a ported enclosure built from pound that sound for 2-12" Fi Bl subs. I built a cardboard box like he asked as big as possible to fit in my trunk. It ended up being 39" wide x 13" Tall x 15" deep. This was sitting on the ledges on each side of the trunk and the spare tire hole being empty on the center. The box has to be dropped in from the top and has about an inch and a half gap on the top, and the side facing the rear of the car. Will this be enough space for those subs? I notice it asks for 1.8-2.5 per sub so I think I am a little small unless I would extend the bottom center of the box down into the spare tire well. HMMMMM?

i have been working on my box design this would work real good with my trunk space. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/home/bo...ideboxcalc.html is the box good to build or is there way too much port, fi recommends 12-16 per cubic foot of enclosure area? crap it only posts the default box... my box is the following: box width 35, box height 17, box top depth 19, box bottom depth 19, box thickness .75, square port width 4, square port length 2-16

I have 2 12" Fi Q's and im probobly going to order a subthump box for them, because I hear subthump makes one of the best prefab boxes for Camaros and Trans-Ams. However, these boxes only have a total of about 2 cu. ft. and after diplacement that would only leave me about .85 cu. ft. per sub. These boxes dont take up the whole rear well though, so if you guys think it would be worth it, I could cut out part of the bottom of the box and add some space down there. Thanks, Ben

The Fi.BL is being shipped now and i want to know how big 10 cubic ft. is.because the specs says 5-10 cubic ft. so i was going to get the enclosure built to 10 cubic ft. Is 10 cubic ft. good for that sub for max bass and Hitting Good Low low notes or should i stick to the 7-8 cubic ft. range?? P.S.:Space is not a option so you dont have to ask that? These are the options:dual 2ohm,cooling,flatwind coil, daily. How much inches wide & tall should the port be for this monster???? Thanks Guys:)

Hey guys, I think i'm going to be purchasing a Q12. I have reservations that I have the space for an adequete box though. I have a 2002 BMW 325i. Here are a few pics of the way my backseat/trunk is (borrowed from a bimmer forum): and i was hoping to have it look something like this when it was complete: As you can see the setup is geared towards a show car, but I do actually drive the car around quite a bit, so sound quality is a concern of mine. How practical would something like that setup be for sound quality? SPL doens't matter as much for me. Thanks

Hi everyone, first time poster on this forum. Posting all the way from Australia. Okay, So I'm in the planning stage for a system in the new car, and I've just started doing up some rough design/placement ideas on Inventor, when I ran in to a problem. I'm designing this for a Fi Q12 ported, and I know the recommended enclosure sizes given by Fi of 1.8-2.5 cf @ 28-33Hz. However, that is quite a large margin of variation for a recommended enclosure volume (0.7 cf and 5Hz tuning frequency can affect the sound a fair bit). As I'm not a massive fan of guessing/speculating about the best enclosure volume, I decided to pull out the calculator and the old loudspeaker design coo…

Ok, so I finally finished stage 1 of my install today. It's gonna take too much time for the custom fab needed for my components to fit in my door so I used a Line Out Converter to get me by. I couldn't change out my HU because of the factory amp and it would cause the speakers not to play and there is no harness for it yet. Anyway, back to the point of the post. So I have my Q in a sealed box with about .8-.9 cubes after displacement. It's a cheap $20 prefab box. I'm just not happy with the current output of the sub. I've seen 10" Q videos, sealed and ported, where there was trunk flex and the rear view mirror noticeably vibrates, and this is only on 1000 watts. I'm runn…

I'm going to order four 10 " Q's to be mounted sealed each connected to it's own Alpine PDX 1.1000 , ( all 4 were benched at 1200 RMS ) , my question is BP power or no BP power , i have seen posts where they were said to perform wonderfully under 1000 watts , and many more that stated they could take more , so i'm confused as to if i should BP them or nt please answer , thank you

  10. I just bought a 15" FI-Q and now I am debating between amps. I looked at a high end: memphis mcd1000, Rockford Fosgate Power T10001bd, Low end: Hifonics BX1206D, Memphis PRD 1000.1. Any suggestions for an amp..or any listed that I should go with? Secondly, I am unsure if I should go ported with a low tune of 28-32hz or just go sealed with it. I want it to bump hard, deep bass and want some sq out of it. SO will that low tuned ported box give me a good sq but also hit hard?

I plan on putting the 3 15's in a fiberglass wall like the old JL audio 3 10 set up approx. 7-8 cuft per sub, so what amps would you guys suggest. Oh getting 3 massive's or 2 more mmats would be about $100 doller dif.

Just ordered my 15" SSD and cant wait for it to arrive. Now on to buying an amp for this little beast. It will be going into a 2008 Nissan Frontier 4.0L V6, enclosed in a 4.2cf. Ground Shaker box. My main concern is how much this sub can handle. Its the Dual 1 Ohm version along the flat wind coil option which Ive heard ups the power handling. Ive been looking around for an amp, Was looking at the Kicker zx1000.1 which puts out about 1100-1200W RMS, the MTX Xthunder X1000D, and the Alpine MRP M1000 all puting out similar rms W (1000-1200). I would like to go with the MTX for the reason that it is on sale for $269 on sonic. Ill include a product list below along with the mo…

I would dare to say I am pretty cautious. I have a 12" Q dual 2, cooling and all that, and am running a 1000 watt rms mono amp to it. I was just kinda curious as to whether it was possible to blow the sub with that amp or do any damage to it. I have the level a pretty safe setting and make sure to keep the bass equalizer down, but i would like to get a little more out of it. Any insight would be appreciated

  19. hi all. i have a bl 12 at dual 2 hooked up to a kicker 1500zx mono amp. its all hooked up correctly yet when i turn my car on the amp goes straight to protection. any thoughts on why it might be doing this? the only two problems i can think of is that my inline is a few volts low of the requierments, or the fact that i have 4 gauge wire and might need 0 gauge? the volts from the battery are only short by about .5 volts. any input or advice would be well appreciated!!!

Hello, I have a kicker zx.750 and a single kicker 12 inch solo-baric L7 woofer. I tried a ported enclosure and now it is in a sealed enclosure, but I just am not getting the bass I am looking for. I have been looking into a Q series woofer and was wondering what size people would recommend and how big of an enclosure for the wattage put out by the zx.750. I currently have a 1992 lexus es300 (4 door sedan) but may possibly be buying a 1998 ford expedition. Could somebody give me some advice about what to do?

At the moment I am really thinking of running 2 12" BTLs. I know this may be a dumb question, but hey, I am new and gotta learn somehow....anyway, how do the 12" BTLs sound. I have heard some subs where the 12" would sound horrible (imo) but the 15 sounded great....both in the optimum setup and tuning. Just like some subs aren't really recommended for certain types of enclosures or applications....is it ok to use 2 12" BTLs for a daily driver or would it be more beneficial to use the BLs due to application types.

Ive got a Kicker KX600.1 that I'd like to pair with a 10" SSD to avoid purchasing another amp. The amp specs are RMS Power at 2 Ohms 600 W x 1 RMS Power at 4 Ohms 300 W x 1 Opinions on this vs getting something for the 1000rms rating of the 10" SSD
