Hello everyone, I am trying to decide if I should just get an amp that will do full power at 2 ohms or order a D1 BL 10 and a recone for my BL 10 with the universal option. My current amp is 1 ohm stable, it "Can" run at .5 but only if my electrical system can support it, which it cant because its all stock. So, on to the real question, if I just order another BL 10 D2 and run my eD 9.1 at 2 ohms for 900 to 1000 watts rms, will my BL's still sound decent with only 500 watts rms. I know underpowering will not hurt a sub unless you clip, I know the recommended rms for the BL is 1000 rms, I know I should have considered all of this BEFORE I ordered my BL in D2. But I had pla…

So I am about ready to start this new setup. I ended up thinking that I would like to go with two flared ports with a 15" sub. Is it okay to put two flared ports in an enclosure with a single 15? I wanted to do this, sadly, for the looks so I can keep the sub in the middle of the enclosure so things stay symmetric. How do I go about this. Do I follow the same rough 12 to 16 inches of port area per cu ft of volume or do i now divide that in half since I am running two ports. Any help would be great as I dont want to screw this up. THanks.

By the end of next week I will test the sx 15 with dual 2's, and the Bl 15 with dual 2s, and p chamfer. I will test them both in a 3ft3 enclosure tuned around 49hz. Which do you all think will be the Louder sub? I'm not going to post the results, out of respect for the two companies.

I didn't think that I'd do this but. Heh, it happens. I'm a complete boxbuilding noob. I know how many cuft Fi recommends and how much port area they recommend. But, I've tried my hand at it and failed. But anyways, Here are my max specs. 49 inches wide 27 inches deep 16(I may be able to squeeze 16.5 out of it) inches tall I'd like to do the port either on the left or in the middle. But, since I have seen/read/heard loading problems I'm pretty unsure as to what to do. I may be concerned about being loud but i would much rather have my woofers happy and lasting longer. I love reading posts about box tuning and loading. Since that is probably the only area of car audio that…

How much can these take cuz my saz-1500d is feeding them pretty well but sometimes it sounds like they can take a bit more power...???

Hello, I have been thinkging about buying a new sub and one of the members of another forum I visit is always raving about Fi subs so I decided to have a look for myself. I have been trying to read up on the forum and think I have decided on a sub, but I am not too sure about the box. Based on what I have read it seems that a 12" Q is what I am looking for. I want a good sounding sub with the ability to play low and loud. I only really want 1 sub as my trunk space is limited and I'm not trying to win any spl competitions. Basically it will be in my daily driver. Right now I am still in the research stage but have no clue about a box. I don't know if sealed or port…

So I got a 12" Q last week and I LOVE it but my sub cuts out or has alot of background noise and i hooked it directly up to the amp and it plays fine and I am figuring that its the speaker terminal because when i put my finger on the negative it starts to play but when I take my finger off it stops? and In addition the - wire looks charred on the inside connecting to the terminal so my main question is has anyone else had this problem and what would be a good solution?

Wondering on box size for strict SPL setup. Would it be best to use the 3 or 5 cubic foot box or some other size. Tuning will be 54 hz. Not sure on port size yet but thinking 150" per sub if I use the 5 cubic foot size and 90 on the 3 cubic foot size. Will be running 2 Sundown Audio SAZ-3000D to each sub off a 16 volt system. Willing to listen to suggestions.

I was originally talking to Scott about a Q 18 in my h/t setup, but I have a chance to get a used SSD 15 instead. It needs reconed, so I was just wondering about the best coil for the recone, and a few questions. I was planning on asking for the copper coils with the recone, but I was just wondering if it would be best with my setup. I was goin to use one of the following plate amps with it, so around 500rms at 4 ohms. Bash 500 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=300-752 Dayton 500 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=300-806 At the moment I'm leaning more towards the Dayton, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the price difference. Also cou…

currently have 2 18" bl's off a kx2500.1 @ 1 ohm. birthsheet states ~3kw @ 2 ohms. here is my post copied from ca.com "currently they are sitting in 11.5 cubes or so tuned to about 35hz. output is pretty good but still not quite where i want it to be. seems like with my ammount of power they should be louder, especially for 2 18's. the only thing i can think of is box volume being on the small side. i was told by the FI guys that 5.5-6 cubes would be fine with my power, but im having doubts now. im thinking of sacrificing my rear seats and build the box to take up the whole cargo area but still be at/under the window line. this would give me a chit load more room to work …

Hi everyone, first time poster on this forum. Posting all the way from Australia. Okay, So I'm in the planning stage for a system in the new car, and I've just started doing up some rough design/placement ideas on Inventor, when I ran in to a problem. I'm designing this for a Fi Q12 ported, and I know the recommended enclosure sizes given by Fi of 1.8-2.5 cf @ 28-33Hz. However, that is quite a large margin of variation for a recommended enclosure volume (0.7 cf and 5Hz tuning frequency can affect the sound a fair bit). As I'm not a massive fan of guessing/speculating about the best enclosure volume, I decided to pull out the calculator and the old loudspeaker design coo…

Im looking at this... for one Fi 18" BTL.... internal dimensions of: 17"H x 29.5"W x 31.5"D I subtracted .26 for speaker displacement, 1.428 for port displacement, and just guessed around .2 for bracing displacement (im mostly gonna use .75" threaded rods and some 2x2)... and I came up with a NET Volume of 7.25 cubes and the port is gonna be 17"h x 6"w x 26"d (with a total of 102 sq "/ 14.06 cubic inches each ft3) ...I came up with a 33.22 hz tune with all this..... can ya'll review these specs, and let me know if this all seems correct? I would greatly appreciate it!!! :foshizzle: thanks, john

I plan on running to Fi Qs in a sealed enclosure, using the minimum recommended volume due to space constraints. My power is a Zapco c2k 9.0 4ohm version. I can run the amp bridged or in stereo, so that opens up both the dual 1ohm and dual 2ohm voice coil configs as options. Since I intend to run sealed, I plan on ordering the high QTS option. So here is the dilema: I noticed that the T/S parameters are different for both the D1 and D2 ohm cofigs, and I imagine that the high QTS option further changes the T/S parameters. With that in mind, does anyone have any thoughts on which configuration would behave the best installed in the smallest recommended volume and usin…

This is for my buddy thats in Iraq. Im doing all of this for him while he is gone. The vehicle in a 2001 Chevy Silverado EXT Cab. He needs the back seat due to a child. http://www.supercrewsound.com/shop/detail/11/242.htm thats the box we decided on. He wont have to raise his seat any and it will fit no problem. Now the question is should he get 12" or 10" FI SSDs. if he gets the 12" they will be in about .71cuft each and if he gets the 10" they will be in about .73cuft. The amp is the Kicker ZX1500.1. He listens to rap/rock/country you name it he listens to it. What would you guys suggest? Would polyfill help the lack of space for the 12" Any help would be great guys.

39" wide 18" deep 22" tall 1.5" walls 4.5 box volume 76sq" of port 32" long port tuned to 34hz With available space, I'm tuned a little high (it's a big interior, peaks around 40hz)...and I'm lacking port area. Should I go longer on the port to get lower or should I go longer and wider and keep the tuning freq (or possibly let it raise)?

Hey guys I'm getting my plan's ready on my btl n2 18. I already have my amp to power it(hifonics for now). But I'm still deciding on the box plans. I'm doing a ported box tuned to 33hz. I want to do the box perfect and to spec but I'm having a hard time calculating the bracing and how thick I should make it for safety. Any advice would be appreciated thanks for your time
