Or should I say my son wants loud. I've e-mailed Scott a couple of times, but I know how busy he gets. I thought I'd try here. What I'm looking for is the loudest possiblw set up that I can get with an honest 1400 watts @1 ohm available. I can build a box any size I need to, so that's not an issue. It's going in a mini-van so I've got plenty of room. He's trying to do better than his current setup of 2 AA Arsenal 12's in a ported box (tuned around 32-35Hz). My initial thoughts were 2 SSD18's w/dual 2 Ohm vc's in a ported box, but I'm looking for advice from someone from Fi. Once the drivers are chosen, I'll need help with box dimensions. TIA, Carl.

what does Universal option do to the sub frequencies response? will it make the SPL lower since the motor is not optimised for the coil impedence chosen? or does it give the 'peaky' effect like flatwind?

What sort of rules apply when constructing a ported enclosure. I know the basics like tuning and port dimensions. But do subs need to be spaced a certain distance appart to be effective...? Things like that! Cheers

I have 2 Konaki 12's with Incriminator Audio recones on them. Overall they sound great and hit the lows great, but the power handling is lacking. I have them both on a Crunch GP3000D-Pro which is putting out between 2500-3000 watts given my electrical right now. The amp is set correctly and the system thumps hard, but it seems like they bottom out wayyyy too easily. I play a lot of low stuff (<36hz) and when I turn it up too loud, the subs bottom out. Basically, I'm wondering if Fi would have any options to boost my power handling to 1500+ watts a piece and maybe some spiders that would stay stiff and allow me to play low frequencies at high volumes without bottoming o…

  9. Whats the best kind of wood I can use to get the full preformace out of a 18'' FI.BTL with these specs? Dual 2 Ohm,Cooling,HiXm Coil,Induct heat ring,And Daily option. I plan on buying four!!! Also the recommended option is 2000 Rms but Steve Meade told me he gives his 5000 Rms each he has four also. ''audio-neon'' told me ''meade knows how to build enclosures to compensate for overpowering the woofers thats why he gives them that much power''. If thats true how will I make my enclosure inorder to do that if I plan on overpowering the subs. Is that a good thing if I have a enclosure do that or just stick with 2000 Rms each (or maybe 2600 rms if so). FI.BTL Specs (BTL18) …

Hey guys, first post! Haha. Well, I recently just received my 15" BTL in the mail. I was looking and it and noticed that there were no screw holes for mounting the sub to your box. So how do you mount it? Another question I had was, is there a special way that I should be breakin in the sub? I didn't know if there was a good way to do it. Thanks guys and appreciate all the feedback.

  18. So this is how much room I would like to use, but I have more room if necessary (I need some trunk space ) My dimensions are 33x21x17 and here is a picture with how what space I would like to take up. Just post your input on if this is good or if I should add more space for the box and how much! This should be around 6.817 cubes without any displacement. (btw this picture isn't mine I just googled what an 05 equinox trunk looks like, and no those side panels do not come out) hmm for some reason the picture came out a little blurry, but I think you should get the point and for the height I can also do up to about 21 inches so if i wanted to mount the sub back i cou…

So I just recieved my 15" SSD with copper coil in the mail Thursday. I originally planned to go sealed in about 2cuft, but I have about 3.1cuft after all displacement to play with, so I was thinking about porting it. I wanted the install to be strictly sq, so I was thinking about 28Hz or so. My question is, has anyone here tuned it that low? If so, how's the sound quality? And if no one has, what tuning would you recommend for a sq setup?

  20. I've had my Fi Q 12" (no BP option) for about a month and a half now and its been making a strange vibrating noise at certain frequencies since I bought it. I thought maybe it'd just need broken in a bit since seems to be hitting really well and doesn't sound distorted. But its still making the noise as much as it was the first day and its been broken in plenty since then. I made sure that it wasn't anything in my car rattling. I used an extra long run of speaker wire and put the box outside of the car and it was clearly the sub itself that was vibrating. Its audible with certain sounds in certain songs at a moderate volume but actually gets pretty irritating at high volu…

Doing some box designs and wanted a little help on picking what hrtz to tune the box at. I read the post from Fi about tuning and it says anywhere beteween 30-37 hrtz. I will have around 8.5 cuft for each sub and wanted to hear some suggestions on tuning. The enclosure will have the ports facing twords the rear with the subs mounted on the top side of the enclosure. I listin to mostly rap music and want it to be loud as it can be. The subs will be pushed by 2 Alpine PDX 1000.1's for now, but down the road will be pushed by 2 PDX's on each 18 1 on each voice coil at 2ohms for a total of 2000 watts to each sub. Thanks, this site has helped me alot so far, the best sit…

I'm getting ready to build a box for a ssd18 copper coil. It's going to be in a 1999 yukon and I was wondering what would be the best specs and port design and placement for optimum bass response. I love the really deep bass, but don't want to lose too much sound quality( some is o.k though). Any help would definately be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody that helps me out ahead of time.

  23. hello guys I have two Q15's in a dual chambered slot port box tuned to 27hz @ 8cuft. My question is will it be better to build another enclosure where the drivers share the same chamber? And should I double baffle it? Also, what about bracing? How do I go about doing it? I tuned low because I want the ground pounding bass that you get from the lows as I don't really play anything above 45hz. Thanks.

I finally ordered knukonceptz wiring today, and it should be here within a few days, and i'm planning on making one last trip to the hardware store. I was planning on screwing the sub in, but i really dont want to anymore because 1. not sure if it will be sufficient and 2. the image of silver bolts coming out the sides of the black sub seems badass So what size (diameter) bolts should i ask for? The hole is 3/16, but do they make a bolt that size? Thanks for reading, Mitch o btw, the sub is 18 bl, doubt it matters though.

I've read and read. Perhaps under the explaination of options, this could be added to the flatwinds description if it holds out to be true: Does Flatwind add power handling and excursion at the expense of sound quality?
