Ok, so my fully loaded 18" BTL should be here on wed., I want to get started on the box in the next couple of days. But I have no hands on experience with this sub, and I don't like relying on a computer program. So, I need to know what size box/tuning I should be looking at for it, all info listed below. 18" Fully loaded BTL, powered by an MA Audio HK4000D @ 1 ohm, so roughly 3500ish rms. I don't listen to THAT much rap, but still want it to hit the lows.I listen to stuff with a lot of double kicks, which I don't want to sound really sloppy/mushed together. So, cliff notes. BTL 18, 3500rms, and lots of double kick drums Also, PLEASE do not reply if you do not know what …

  5. Hi everyone. I've been reading up on Fi Car Audio and in particular the Q series of subwoofers. I really can't wait to start getting my cash together for one of these bad boys. However I have a small knowledge base problem. I don't understand the exact effect of a larger box volume for a subwoofer. In particular I've read that the recommended box size for a sealed Q 15 is 2 - 2.6 cuft. Now, would the subwoofer get louder if the size was 2.6cuft vs 2cuft? There is more air to be moved in a 2.6 vs a 2 correct? But if this is true then would there be any other effects of having a larger box beside the obvious space consumption in the trunk? Bonus question: I listen to a lot …

I know people are going to say it depends on my application, but what would be a good starting net volume for a box for a single Team 15. Running on a DC 5K with 2 XS batteries and a Northstar 170ft. Do these subs like bigger enclosures? I will be slamming it daily but also doing some SPL. I'd like to tune it around 33hz. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello there! So a couple months ago I reconed my 12'' fully loaded (older-model) BTL. Before, it lived in one of Pete's Team Toxic Enclosures...but due to the possibility that it may have blown because of the complexity of the enclosure...I want to design a more simple one with the same dimensions of the previous. Problem is, I do not know how to design one. The dimensions would be 20 by 30 by 14. I would like it to be tuned at 32 hz. If someone could please point me towards a thread with the same specs, or design one for me. I would be very greatful. The sooner I could have this figured out, the sooner I can build the box and install the subwoofer. Thank you. P.S. : …

Hey guys, I'm looking to build my own vented enclosure (my first) for a 12" BTL fully loaded. I have looked at the box builder programs, but am having trouble. Would someone please design on for me? The maximum dimensions are 15"H x 34"L x 30"D. I plan on making it double baffle, and adding a magnet holder. But I guess before finalizing a design, I was thinking that it should be tuned to 35Hz, what do you guys think? Thanks for the help in advance, Justin

i sent my woofer in for a recone and spoke with nick via email briefly, but havent heard a response in a while. i need to get the sub back asap, im not sure how much to pay them for it with shipping to 85259. if anyone can contact them via phone, that would be fantastic as i would love to have the sub back by thursday or friday for a road trip. i know its 75 plus shipping, but im not sure how much the shipping is and if it can be back to me by then. he said it can be done within a day if need be. Thanks, anthony iocca he can reach me at 480-648-6785. my email is down right now.

Well im in my garage right now trying to decide if i should make a 5" slot port tuned to 32hz, a 4" slot port tuned to 31hz, or a 3" tuned to 27hz... Im using the RE calculator to build a box and when im looking at the 5" port it says the Volume internal, and volume displaced is 2000...on the others its 1500 and below..i have no idea what this means, is it how loud the box will be or what..Which port u think i should design???Also the larger the port the less box volume i have..its been between 3.6-4ft3..i cant make a bigger box so let me kno which port is gonna be the best!! PS. the box i have been running is below 1000 volume internal and displaced, so im guessing the …

Okay, so i messed up a little. I have a hifonics bxi2601d amp, and i wanted to wire my sub to 1ohm. I ordered a 12" fi BTL fully loaded dual 1ohm model... OOPS! anyways, i tried to change the order, we'll see how that works. If i am stuck with the 1ohm model, and i wire my sub to 2ohms, meaning it will get the rated 1700w rms, (probabaly 1200-1500 actually) do you think it'll sound under powered? I'm running 0/1 gauge wires, and my box is 2.73^3. Stock alt and battery for now. My goal is to sound better than a jl 13w7, my buddy said hes hitting 143db on the reader. you think Ill get him?

Anyone have any experience with FI Q 4th order bandpass boxes? I'm thinking about doing one for two FI q 12's. I've heard they really help to eliminate trunk rattles when you port them through the deck. I have 2200 RMS to work with.

I want a recone config good for everyday driving and music. Mostly rap. Go with flatwind? Or copper? I want some leeway to have some fun so should I go with bp options for cooling? Enclosure reccomendations? About to order this shit tonight confirmation in the forum would be optimal

im trying to stay with an enclosure that is 3cf or less and trying to decide whats better, 2 12s sealed with 3000watts (buy a new sundown 3000 amp) or 1 12 ported with 1500 watts (keep my mtx 1501d)? if the sealed subs would be louder, how much louder? last option is 2 10s ported. looking for LSQ, basically the loudest set up i can get with the space available. appreciate the help!

  20. Hey everybody, I have a BL 15 dual 2 with every option except universal and extreme leads. I am currently giving the sub about 1400 watts RMS. I am pretty sure that it can handle this, but since it is quite a bit above the rated power I just wanted to be sure that I am not going to blow the sub (because it gets REALLY loud). I am sort of afraid to turn it up all the way right now so any advice would be appreciated. My amp is a Lanzar Opti2000D and my head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P6900UB (if that matters...) im looking at the hifonics bxi2607d amp. Its rated 2600 watts at 1ohm. From what i have heard ( and also from personal use) the bxi line is over-rated by about 200-300 watts. This amp is a little different from the other amps in the bxi line. For one, this is the 2007 model. Also, this one is strapable. Does anyone have experience with this amp? I want to know if this amp will be able to push a loaded 15" btl and sound good enough doing it? i dont think im going to get the $40 cooling, just the $10 one. I am going to run it off of a 140a alt, 2 batterys (one of them a yellow top), and do the big 3. I also plan on using a 5 farad cap. I read a thread on roe that they are u…

  24. I was told I can wire this in series to achieve 2ohms. But when I looked up a diagram for the wiring, it didn't make any sense. can someonen post a link of a good diagram? The amp is rated at 1200 watts @2ohms. rms. I figured this would be a perfect match for the Q. Thanks for the help.

As some of you are aware, I have a pair of Q15's sealed in a 4.4ft^3 enclosure. I had to build the box ackwardly to make it fit in a G35(sedan) trunk. I enjoy competing at local comps, but want to see if I can increase my output. I am pretty steady with hitting ~148db at the dash. My question for you box gurus is with the given specs of my sealed box only being 4.4ft^3 would I still get an output increase if I added a pair of external 4" aero ports (actually just pvc) and how long should they be to tune to ~34hz? Specs again: Sealed 4.4ft^3 (2) Q15's Desired tuning approx. 34hz using (2) 4" round ports What length?
