Hi, i'm buying 2 Fi BTL 18's and was wondering how i could build a ported box. i've never built a box before so i need a lot of help. If you could tell me what i need to buy and how to do pretty much everything to build this box it would be great. Thanks

As some of you are aware, I have a pair of Q15's sealed in a 4.4ft^3 enclosure. I had to build the box ackwardly to make it fit in a G35(sedan) trunk. I enjoy competing at local comps, but want to see if I can increase my output. I am pretty steady with hitting ~148db at the dash. My question for you box gurus is with the given specs of my sealed box only being 4.4ft^3 would I still get an output increase if I added a pair of external 4" aero ports (actually just pvc) and how long should they be to tune to ~34hz? Specs again: Sealed 4.4ft^3 (2) Q15's Desired tuning approx. 34hz using (2) 4" round ports What length?

I recently totaled my car, so I'm selling the system to my cousin. He has an Explorer and where they're from, loud is the only thing that matters. Anyway, he's been entering in comps with two JL 12w6 on a old punch 500(or somethin like that, not sure the model). I have two FI Q 12 with Bp power I'm selling him, along with a Rockford Fosgate T20001BD. Size is not really a problem...he has the entire back of the explorer to fill if necessary. I'm just looking for a big box or whatever will get the job done to throw up big numbers and still sound decent. He said he put up like a 141 Outlaw with the JL's. i know this is a real noob question but what is the cutout diameter of a btl 18"?

Hey guys im wondering if anyone has any dementions for a box or can set one up for me for my car i use the BL for DD and the box needs to be 37inches or smaller in width and 18inches or smaller in hight, doesnt matter depth. Does any one have dementions to i can build a slot ported box, im too busy to even set up all the hertz or know the specs for a box for this sub so can you guys help me out please?

Fella's, I was wondering would it be better to fire my 12" BL's forward in my SUV or to the rear towards the tailgate? I cant fire them up so its either forward or backwards? Thanks in advance.

you guys think a 10 cu ft box ported tuned anywhere from like 30-34 is alot? i was talking to a guy about him builing me a box casue i dont wanna get into making one. he said around 10 cu ft. tho its also going in the back of a suv. but do you guys think thats alot for just a single 18 bl running off a hifonics 2k watt.im not gonna be giving it to much probly arounf 1200 to 1600 its got pf chamber and cooling -thanks

Ok, so my fully loaded 18" BTL should be here on wed., I want to get started on the box in the next couple of days. But I have no hands on experience with this sub, and I don't like relying on a computer program. So, I need to know what size box/tuning I should be looking at for it, all info listed below. 18" Fully loaded BTL, powered by an MA Audio HK4000D @ 1 ohm, so roughly 3500ish rms. Recently I built a box that is 47 x 22 x 22 with the port slot it all comes out to about 9.3 cubes, i was wondering if any of the gurus could tell me if that entirely too much volume for 1 18" bl daily driver?

I have an X12, 4ohm with BP power option, in a 1cu ft box after displacement, running on 350 watts. I need to know about what frequencies to set to LPF and subsonic adjustments on my Mono amp to best meet the specs of the sub. My subsonic will adust from OFF to 50Hz and the LPF adjusts from 40Hz to 220Hz Thanks Steve

can anyone tell me how many watts i should run to a fi bl 18 and wether i should go with a dual 1 or dual 2 ohm.... and also what is the best hifonics amp to run it on?....

Hey everybody, I have a BL 15 dual 2 with every option except universal and extreme leads. I am currently giving the sub about 1400 watts RMS. I am pretty sure that it can handle this, but since it is quite a bit above the rated power I just wanted to be sure that I am not going to blow the sub (because it gets REALLY loud). I am sort of afraid to turn it up all the way right now so any advice would be appreciated. My amp is a Lanzar Opti2000D and my head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P6900UB (if that matters...) Just wondering what options I have to get this motor reconed. Are there any options I can choose to build a custom or hybrid sub or do you only have a standard setup for recones. thanks

this is the size of box i want to build: 16tall x 40wide x 28deep, there is an internal volume amount of 8.11 cu ft. after you account for the entire top being double baffled... subs up, port back (in the middle). i came up with a port, 13.75tall x 8wide x 23.5deep for a tuning of 32hz using this program: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 i used the "Calculate Your Vent Length" section to come up with that port. it asks what tuning frequency you desire but there is not a place to enter how many or what size drivers you are using. is that port good for four 12"s?

I looked at the voice coil on one and there were markings. What does FC FW mean? Plus how will I know if it has the cooling option I ordered?

Well, i've figured out that I can fit a 5.5 cu box in my trunk, now i was originally going to go with two 15" btl's but after taking measurements, it seems like my trunk would be more suited for two 12" btl's. My question is, which would sound better/be louder/hit lower freq's better in a 5.5cu ported box? they will be tuned at about 32hz Any help would be appreciated, thankss

Box is 13.5cuft Tune to 32hz After subs just under 13cuft Subs are in a common chamber one large vent this is a slot port what do you think about VENT inside area height 5 in Width 39 in depth 15.5 in This vent will be taking up 2cuft over all this numbers were made with carstereo.com calculator is this going to work good or do i need to rethink it again WILL TAKE ANY INFO

i bought 2 bl 18's d2's in 2008, one in october, one in november. Now i am wanting to run 3 18's but was told not to mix those 2 with newer bl 18. I got these 2 with cooling, flatwind and universal options. Do you have any older bl's in stock or stuff to build one? Or could I run a new one with those? thanks

Well i decided to see if my 15" Fi BL is working before i get my box so i installed it without the box... I wired it parallel and when i turned my car on to play some music I would say about 1 min smoke started to come out ... it wasnt very much smoke but i need to know if this is normal for a new sub to do that.. also the sub was getting hot... what could be the probelm??? :

I recently purchased a 12" Q series sub. I am installing it in a ported enclosure and I am curious to the size and tuning. After purchasing the sub I found a deal too good to pass up on an amp that is a little underpowered for the Q. It is a kicker zx750.1. It puts out between 800-900 watts rms. I see on the pinned topic at the top the recommended ported enclosure is 1.8-2.5@ 28-33hz. With 12-16 square inches of port volume. My question is should I change the box size or port area since the speaker will not be driven at full rms power? I want to get as much out of the speaker as I can with the power I have available. I thought I would ask on here instead of calling seeing…

Hi everyone, I had an amp putting out 2100 watts at 1 ohm on my SP4 18" (Stereo is currently out of the car for the Canadian winter) and I had a couple questions. This is my first build with a large woofer. I set the gain on the amp using my oscilloscope when I had hooked everything up, and I think it might just be my inexperience with this amount of bass, and I don't really know what I should be listening for. The excursion of the woofer is really high and I think I just have no reference point on what should be happening (coming from two 10" woofers on my first build). I don't think it is possible to over power the woofer with this amplifier, and I'm not getting a disto…

I have an 12'' Fi Q coming soon and i needed a box and i dont have time to do one myself so i went to the local audio shop to ask him what would be the best option. The owner actually held the loudest street car for two years in a row fyi....but I drive an f150 and i have a spilt rear seat. I wanted to take out the smaller section and have the box in that area so it wouldnt take up room for my passengers. His plans for my box is to have the sub face the floor of my truck as well as the port facing the floor. It will eventually exit out the side (meaning the port). Hey everyone i have an 05 civic coupe and i am wanting to put a 4 cubic foot box in the trunk. Does anyone know if this is possible and what dimensions i should use. I am going ported with a btl 15 n2. any enclosure help or ideas is really helpful. i am building this myself so nothing too crazy.

The box I'm building is for a single Fully loaded BTL 15. The design i came up with has the following specs: 4.5 cubes after displacement and bracing, tuned at 32hz with 64sq/in of port. My goal is just a loud ass daily ground pounder. My question is just does this box seem too big/small, and is 64sq/in too much port? thanks
