I got a baffel cut for my 12" box so I could convert it to accept my BL 10", I have a box uilt to spec for the BL only its for 2 BL's. I have not got around to ordering the 2nd (money) so I had to put it in something else until I get the second. My dual box is common chamber, so I cant run it that way without the other sub. So, I put the BL in the 2.15 cuft box powered by my 9.1, 1200 rms, its very loud and low, only, I know its not good for the sub to be in a box thats too big. I hear it will make the sub super efficient (spelling) , I am thinking to add some MDF to the box to shrink it down or run the sub at 4 ohms (450 rms) until I can get the 2nd one for the dual inst…

Hey guys I have a question about the Q series woofers: a 12 Q in a ported box or a 15 Q in a sealed box is what I am debating now given a 2.5 ft box for either one: 1.) which will be louder? 2.) which will play lower? 3.) which will have better SQ for rock?

I will be building my first custom box for a Fi Q15. I will be putting it in a 1994 Toyota Camry. The cargo space is 14.9 cuft, I will edit my post later knowing the actual dimensions I know there are a lot of experts on this forum that can give me some helpful advice on how to prepare the box and how to correctly brace it. I have used a layout generator online and I was wondering if these dimensions were suitable for it. Net Volume: 3.3 cubic feet Tuning Frequency: 32 Hz Port Width: 4.75 inches Port Area: 78.375 Square Inches Port Length: 55.25 inches External Dimensions: 28 wide x 18 tall x 26.75 deep. Color Count Width Height Top/Bottom 2 28 inches 26.75 inches Red 1 2…

Hey guys, sorry if this subject has been brought up in the past. Search engine is not working well for me. I am getting a 15" IB being built for me and want to mount it properly. I am going the T-nut route but do not know what size screws to get? 1/4in enough for 3/8? I dont even know what size the holes are in the sub frame. thanks for your help! Ralph

ok guys, currently now I have an 18" BL fully loaded for daily. Its being powered by a JBL BP1200.1 at 1200 watts. Its in a 5 cu ft box tuned to 30Hz firing upward. The reason it is firing upward is because I cannot fit an 18" into my trunk rear facing. With a 15" though...I would be able to fit it rear firing into my trunk. So my question is...what sort of difference would i see? obviously i'd see a drop in ouput i'd imagine...but at the saem time, would it be noticable? Right now my BL is fully loaded for daily driving (daily option, flat wind, cooling). So at 1200 watts, even though its 200 over RMS, it isn't really pushing the sub to that much of its capability im gu…

I'm sure it's probably not a big deal but my my dad had accidentally barley scratched the surface of the surround of my sub and decided to put a bead of epoxy to cover it and I was kinda upset .. And also while removing my sub from the box my right hand had slipped and accidentally hit the dust cap .. Nothing was damaged because of the hard cap but will these effect my sub and should I worry about it or is it not a relaly big deal?

I am thinking about putting an FI Q 15 in a 2 cubic foot sealed box. I think that this size is on the bottom as far as recommended. Does anyone know how well the FI Q performs when it comes to small boxes like this?

I just added the D1 copper coils to the SSD series. Previously the copper coils were available only in D2. The addition of the copper coils to the SSD subs adds a bit more SQ in some applications. It also allows the subs to play deeper in the same sized enclosures as the standard aluminum coiled SSDs, or have the same response curves in slightly smaller enclosures. Thanks... Scott

I ordered recones for Konaki motors, if you can remember, I have the thread up in the General Fi section, anyway, I was wondering what type of spiders and coils you used in the recones construction. It looked to me like 3 spiders were used and the coils were copper flatwind. Also would like to find out what you guys would estimate the power handling (rms) of the sub would be with the soft parts you sent me. They are seeing probably 1200 watts each, which I am sure they can handle fine, I do not plan on upgrading my amp EVER, but I am wondering just out of curiosity what the rms of these things would be.

Hello guys! I am new to the forum, but recently got back into the swing of car audio. After 10 years of not having any bass I'm ready for my new build. Right now I have a basic setup in my 2011 Toyota Corolla S Kenwood KDC-X596 H/U Alpine Type R SPR-60C Components up front Alpine Type R SPR-69 6x9's in the back Hifonics GLX 100.4 running mids and highs Hifonics X1000.1 running the sub I'm going to pick up an SSD 12'' and run it ported. My question is this..... I have worked a lot trying to figure out the appropriate dimension in order to obtain 2.25 cu ft of internal space after sub and port displacement tuned to 33Hz. Each program gives me a little bit different nu…

***FIRST*** I have a 15" fully loaded btl. the box its in is pretty big its 5 cubes. it has dual ports with sub and ports firing forward. i think the ports together is 80 sq inshes of port. the speaker is centered in the box with the ports on the ends of each side. just curious but would a box of the same size with a single port with sub in center or on the end with both firing forward be louder or the same. my video is posted on you tube and people are telling me it would be louder with a single port then dual. ***SECOND*** i am running mt btl with stock electrical alt, battery , and chitty 4 guage wire. no big 3. i have a ssl soundstorm 4000.1 mono amp. i have heard th…

Will 15" BTL's work in a ported box for DD 9515 subs. Port area is 165" per sub and port is 9" deep. This is what I was told to use for the DD subs. This is a SPL set up only. I know this is more than FI recomends for port area. Total box area is about 17-18 cubic feet.

Hey guys right now I have 2 12" ssds running off us amps 4000.1 (1500 rms) and the subs are in 2.5^3 ft per sub @ 33 Hz. The box is just soo big and so hard to deal with and I want to build a sealed box and see which i like better. Is it normal with this large of a ported box i have a very weak upper end?? I want to put the ssds in the best suited sealed box. I have an avalanche and the box goes in the bed so i have plenty of room. I was thinking somewhere a long the lines of a sealed box around 1.1-1.3. You guys know these subs the best so if you were going to build a sealed enclosure what deminsions would you build it to. I have plenty of room so it doesnt matter how wi…
