Alright, so i finally have all the pieces together for the btl. Alternator, battery, amp, wiring, ect. So now to this whole... building my own box thing. i would prefer around 32hz and 7.5-8 ft^3 before displacements for sub and bracing. I have 3/4 inch MDF (its actually 11/16ths). So one question is how do i brace it properly? And... i need box calculations for a standard Sub facing up, port facing back of vehicle design. I really like Mac n' Cheese's idea of coating the inside of the box with resin, i might do that. so 7.5-8 cubic feet, 32hz, and the dimensions i have to work with in the back of my explorer are 44.5" wide, 25" tall, 22" deep. Maybe 30" tall if it make…

i just planned to put my 18 btl in a 6th order bandpass (60 hz / 30 hz tuning) and i already got the wood sawed too. ive never tried a bp yet so i thought it would be nice to give it a chance. what do you think? is it better to put the btl in a big ported box or go with the 6 th order. i currently have a 5 cft ported box @ 30 hz but i want to increase efficiency and loudness of the box. amp is a bxi 2610.

i have the fully loaded btl, in jus 6 3^4 cu ft box tuned to 34.78 and theres no doubt about it being loud, and rumbling things BUT i am not able to do a hair trick. there is very little air being moved around. is this normal? or is the box to close to the hatch, and not getting enough air? my brother has the 9515g and we put his box n sub in my ride and it moved air like crazy, but the btl isnt move any. any ideas why?

i have 2 18btls but only one can fit in my car with a ported box. actually i want to sell one btl but in case i dont find a customer who buys it for a reasonable price, can i put both btls in a sealed box? as the other btl would just lay around losing price. i know fi doesnt recommend that. and i know i will lose alot of spl. but how would the sq change?

i know this subject is beaten to death but this time i actually have some specifics im either buying a BL 15 or 18 this is going into an 09 scion xb (hatchback/crossover) upfiring for the 18 this is probably the box i would build 14 sq inches port per foot about 6.22 volume or 6.5 if i invert the sub or, i could do a 15 and put it into the ideal box, as there is definitely room for one

Yes i read the sticky at the top of the page, but i just wanted to see what people thought. I haven't bought anything yet, but what about a hifonics bxi2006d (yeah i know its not sundown or anything), at 1ohm (1800-1900 watts im guessing?), on a bl 18 with p chamfer and flatwind? would that be enough to handle 1800 rms? I know i could turn the amp down, but i wanted some input.

I am thinking about getting an 18" BL for my 98 pontiac grand prix gt sedan. My car has a big trunk and I think it would be big enough for this sub and a good size ported box. I was wondering if anyone would have any advice as to whether this would fit fine and also amp recommendations? I would get the daily driver option as well. Im thinking around $400 for the sub and I could possibly build the box with my dad. Also what would be a good cap to go with it and would there be any other modifications I would have to make to my car's electrical system? I already have an alpine head unit.

I just finished building my box last night.... Double baffle,Fiberglass,etc... My box after bracing and before the Port was 8.25cuft(internal)I have 119 sqin of port tuned to 30hz. After the displacement of the port I now have 5.85cuft. Now is my box 8cuft tuned to 30hz OR is it 5.85cuft tuned to 30hz??? And would that be too small for an 18?? thanks

So I own 2 18" BTLs. I have 2 memphis 4ks on each, and they are very loud. Because of the area I live and and personal preference, I don't choose to flexnuts very often (well once a day). Once a day I drive past my ex-fiance's house (who I left after finding out she was cheating on me). This is my once a day stress release- since she's always outside smoking and she tried to prevent me from getting subs-she hated bass- and now she gets to hear them all the time Well, I was listening to da blow by lil john, when I noticed my mirror going crazy. Then it fell off. Guess I'm going to have to go get some repair glue from walmart/advance auto tomarrow. After opening the bac…

Ok here is the email I sent to Fi. Just thought Id post it here while I wait for their reply cause they r so busy. I bought an 18" BTL a while ago and need some recommendations on the type of enclosure I should use. First I went to my local shop to see what kind of designs they could offer me and what they thought would work best for my application. I talked to the guy that specializes in enclosures and unfortunately he hasn't heard of Fi before. So I gave him the web addy to get the parameters of the sub so he could plug the numbers into the enclosure software they have. But, the bad thing was, it couldn't calculate the specs for whatever reason. At that point we started…

Well, After serching the forum, I have found what is included in a recone kit, but now its time for the questions. I was woundering what a 18" Dual 2 ohm BTL recone with flatwind coil will cost. Also I have never done a recone before but I beleive I do have the logic, and patience to do one, but would I be better of just sending in the motor and basket for a recone? Would it cost the same for a recone kit as it would to send in the sub (Shipping not taken into consideration here)
