I really need a ported enclosure design for a 15" FI ssd. since it is going into a pretty small trunk the sub will have to face upwards. other than that i have no clue on to which way to face the port, what size the box should be .....................if it helps my trunk is only about 15" tall, so my box really cant exceed like 14" tall, wheel well to wheel well cant exceed 30" and same for the depth. I would greatly appreciate a nice design for it.

Ok guys heres the situation. I ordered a BL 15 with cooling and flat wind dual 2 ohm. I'm building a box myself and having trouble on what to do with the port. The box is planned at 3.76 ft^3 with the woofer displacement added in. Its recommended to have 12-16 sq in of port per cube so i need anywhere from 45-60 sq in of port. I want to just maybe slap a 3x6 aero port or maybe a 4x6 aero port. The 3x6 is 42 sq in and the 4x6 is 75. Both not in the range i need. Also looked on amazon and found precision ports 3 in and a 4 in round. Doesn't say the length on them tho . Reviews say there adjustable somehow. Help would be appreciated. Also wanted some recommendations on ampl…

Well I just had a box made for my 15" BTL and they kinda messed up...first they made the woofer hole facing up and the ports facing up also....do the ports facing away from cabin sound louder? Also i found out that the box is tuned to around 29hz....how will that sound?????? Will it sound good..will it be loud most also? I listen to mostly all rap just to let people know (i know rap sounds better in different boxes hz wise)...The box is around 4cuft also just to throw that out there. Help is much appreciated thank you. Here's some pics. Inside...one of the ports.

I just got rid of my suv and bought a car and I plan on putting my Q in my car but don't want to use the same box because it's just too big. Right now it's in 2.5 cubes at 32. I was thinking about going sealed for SQ but then again I want it to be loud enough for the sound to come from the trunk into the cabin of the car. I'm a low end feind, so I definitely want the lows. For a mixture of SQ and SPL while retaining some trunk space I was thinking 1.8cuft (FI recommended minimum) tuned low to like 28-30. How would this work compared to going sealed in 1.5 cubes?

  5. I have two Fi 12" old x series woofers the ones sold on the black fiday special. My question is, what is the recomended enclosure volume per speaker for a ported box? I have had them in a sealed 1 cubic foot per sub box since I bought them on black friday. Which has been ok for the time being, but I have moved to a hotter climate, and need a ported box to help cool the woofers as well as get the most spl out of the woofers.

I got new 2 Fi 18's Q series unloaded, no options on them at all. whats the most amount of RMS power I can put on each one???? Im getting the Audiopipe 3000d amp and wiring them at 2 ohms and that would put 1500 rms on them.

I am toying with the idea of putting 2 12" SSDs in a ported box. My original plan was to seal them, but I don't know what kind of output I would get. Could someone help me design a ported box for these subs? I am totally new to ported boxes so I don't know where to start. I'd like to maintain as much SQ as possible and gain as much output as possible. Dimension wise, my trunk could accomodate a box 39" across and 17" high. Depth is negotiable, depending on the size of box needed. Thanks in advance for the help.

I just bought two 15 fi Q's with BP and a aq2200 to power them at one ohm. Running 0ga and doing the big three also plan on another battery and a HO alt soon. My question is with the box setup, its my first time buliding one and would like to do it right. The max demensions are H 16 W 42 L 28,.(ported) i was thinking around 32 or 33 hz.. But i could be wrong? i want the lows and alot of bass but sound good aswell. my other question is should i put a divider and run a port for each sub or have them both to one port? Any input is helpfull thanks

I have a 04 Ford Expedition, i have built a enclosure behind the 3rd row seat, what i have is 2.46 cu ft, I would prefer a sealed enclosure, I know this is large for sealed, but i can shrink it if needed, my question is: should i go smaller ? It is powered by a Crossfire VR 1000d, I listen to mostly music like: Slayer, Exodus, I also listen to alot of classic rock, metal, punk, etc...ever so often I will play a few bass cd's I have from the days I did dB Drag shows. Thank you for your help.

Ok, I give up. I need some more direction in building a ported enclosure for my Q10. Right now, it has about .5ft^3 in a sealed enclosure and I really love the way it sounds, I would just like it a little louder (or alot haha.) But anyway, this is in an extended cab S10. I have to admit, its alittle underpowered with my Sundown sae-1000d because it wired at 2ohms. So it gets about 600rms. Any ideas? I would like to use tube for my ports if possible, not really a fan of slot ports, but i'm open to anything. Thanks, Mike B.

I posted on another thread about needing the addy to send a motor in for recone, just didn't want to assume its the website address.. Also is it possible to do a full poly cap on a 3hp 18" recone along the lines of the 10" full FI logo one I saw in a earlier thread, or maybe from a HAVOC 18" plain?? I just prefer the look over the small boob/inverted one.. just wondering if its possible thanks, Joe

I just got a 1998 blazer (4 door) and transferred over my Sundown Audio SAE-1200D and 12" BL from my 99 grand am. The box is 2.5 cuft AFTER sub and port dislacement, tuned around 32-34hz (can't remember exactly off the top of my head) I have upgraded the BIG 3 with 1/0ga wire, ran conduit along the frame rail with 1/0ga to the amp. In my grand am I LOVED it, but now in the blazer it seems to be lacking... not sure what exactly, but it doesn't seem to rattle my noggin like it did in the grand am. My question is should I look at building another enclosure that would work better for the blazer? If so, how many cuft? tuned to? how should the sub and port face? Or is the blaz…

  16. Hi, I have bought 2 Fi BL's and I am in need of some advice for a good box for it. It will be going into a 2010 Dodge Charger and the space I am working with is 18" H, 32"W, and 32"L. I would like to tune the box to around 33 HZ. I will also be hooking this up to a Hifonics 2000 for right now...hope to move to the sae 1200d later on. Any comments on dimensions for a box and port would be greatly appreciated. Also an idea of where to point the subs and port to get a decent bout loud sound. Thanks!

  21. I was told by other members of this forum to email Fi about this topic, which i did, but I have not got a reply and it's been about a month since i sent the message. Any chance Fi still has recones for D4 X 12's? Or should I invest in an Ascendant Assain? Also, its just the leads. I've replaced the leads on one of my D4 X's already so i know i could do it, but i cut through the cone getting the dustcap off. Maybe I could ship the sub to Fi to get it repaired since they deal with things like this all the time? I'm just exploring my options! Since it's been so long without my sub, I am willing to repair it myself again. All I will need is four leads and a dustcap. Depe…

So i only have like ~180 watts from the back two channels on my amp it is a JL J2 320.4. Im on a budget like mad here unfortunately and that amp was $99 not seeing anything else for that kinda money recently. So i snatched it up. I am running the front two channels on boston acoustic rallye series 5.25 co-ax, the back two channels will be bridged to a subwoofer that amp will do 60x4 at 4ohm 80x4 at 2 ohm. Ive read they are a tad bit underated so 160-180 watts is all i can expect. If i buy and X will that be enough amp sealed? I dont really think i wanna get a ported box right now. Ive not had bass for 3 years+ so im kinda starting out very slow but quality cause i …

I finally ordered knukonceptz wiring today, and it should be here within a few days, and i'm planning on making one last trip to the hardware store. I was planning on screwing the sub in, but i really dont want to anymore because 1. not sure if it will be sufficient and 2. the image of silver bolts coming out the sides of the black sub seems badass So what size (diameter) bolts should i ask for? The hole is 3/16, but do they make a bolt that size? Thanks for reading, Mitch o btw, the sub is 18 bl, doubt it matters though.
