Quick question...I've had my heart set on the 12" Q (after much reading on this and the BL) with my main intentions towards sound quality. Im putting this in my trunk of a jetta and my question is.....is the sound quality going to really be that prevalent through the back seats? Maybe i shouldve gone BL? thanks in advance

Ok, I give up. I need some more direction in building a ported enclosure for my Q10. Right now, it has about .5ft^3 in a sealed enclosure and I really love the way it sounds, I would just like it a little louder (or alot haha.) But anyway, this is in an extended cab S10. I have to admit, its alittle underpowered with my Sundown sae-1000d because it wired at 2ohms. So it gets about 600rms. Any ideas? I would like to use tube for my ports if possible, not really a fan of slot ports, but i'm open to anything. Thanks, Mike B.

I plan on ordering a BL12 and am not sure on what amp to get. I was looking at the Alpine PDX 1.1000 for one BL12. Should that do that job or is it not enough watts?

I am toying with the idea of putting 2 12" SSDs in a ported box. My original plan was to seal them, but I don't know what kind of output I would get. Could someone help me design a ported box for these subs? I am totally new to ported boxes so I don't know where to start. I'd like to maintain as much SQ as possible and gain as much output as possible. Dimension wise, my trunk could accomodate a box 39" across and 17" high. Depth is negotiable, depending on the size of box needed. Thanks in advance for the help.

outter box dimensions are gonna be 58" deep x 46" wide x 24" high using two layers of 3/4 mdf all around (1.5" sides) gives me 28.7 cu ft before displacement assuming displacement is .26 per woofer lets call it 1 cu ft my plan is to use six 6" aero's to start with i am aiming to get at least 25 cubes net after port and sub displacement (assuming 1.5 cubes displacement for 6 6" aeros 15" long) i NEED this box to be LOUDEST at 44hz, so i'm guessing tune to around 40hz (not sure) its gonna be only for bass race and shows, i wont be driving this setup around town everyday, but i still will be playing music, mostly rap and not much in the 30-40hz range. dimensions are pretty…

I've got a 2000 Frontier xcab and I've got 10.42 cu ft box for 2 18's to work with. I've got a saz3000d coming but I want to know if I should go with 2 BL 18's or 1 BTL 18. I'm thinking the 2 bl's would be louder, but the btl has better Xmax with the x coil option. I don't crank my system all the time( I have a toggle switch so I can shut the sub amp off-It's great for keeping the cops at bay) but when I do I want to incite fear and cure constipation from a distance. I want the hair trick factor and I want it to sound ok, not like complete chit. I'm looking for some serious BOOM for what space I got. It will be in competitions and electrical upgrades will be done. …

I am not entirely sure about box dimensions and all. I want forward facing subs. I know 15's will work, but wonder if I could manage an 18. These are going in the bed of my truck with a fiberglass flat shell on top. I am pretty sure the depth of the bed of the truck is 20 or 21". Would I be able to build a box that will fit in this for 18's, or is it way to tight?

Also i will be using 3/4 inch MDF board to build the box, I will be putting double layers on the baffles, should I double layer all the other sides of the box or should I just brace inside to the single layers? thank you .................Brian

I finally ordered knukonceptz wiring today, and it should be here within a few days, and i'm planning on making one last trip to the hardware store. I was planning on screwing the sub in, but i really dont want to anymore because 1. not sure if it will be sufficient and 2. the image of silver bolts coming out the sides of the black sub seems badass So what size (diameter) bolts should i ask for? The hole is 3/16, but do they make a bolt that size? Thanks for reading, Mitch o btw, the sub is 18 bl, doubt it matters though.

Hi, I have bought 2 Fi BL's and I am in need of some advice for a good box for it. It will be going into a 2010 Dodge Charger and the space I am working with is 18" H, 32"W, and 32"L. I would like to tune the box to around 33 HZ. I will also be hooking this up to a Hifonics 2000 for right now...hope to move to the sae 1200d later on. Any comments on dimensions for a box and port would be greatly appreciated. Also an idea of where to point the subs and port to get a decent bout loud sound. Thanks!

So i only have like ~180 watts from the back two channels on my amp it is a JL J2 320.4. Im on a budget like mad here unfortunately and that amp was $99 not seeing anything else for that kinda money recently. So i snatched it up. I am running the front two channels on boston acoustic rallye series 5.25 co-ax, the back two channels will be bridged to a subwoofer that amp will do 60x4 at 4ohm 80x4 at 2 ohm. Ive read they are a tad bit underated so 160-180 watts is all i can expect. If i buy and X will that be enough amp sealed? I dont really think i wanna get a ported box right now. Ive not had bass for 3 years+ so im kinda starting out very slow but quality cause i …

OKay so i got my car back... 15" Q in a (supposed to be) 4 cu.ft. ported box.... i love it so far and sounds great. i need to listen to it more tommorw. i hardly had any time today. but anyways, to the point... My box is 4 cu. ft. which means the port should be 48-64 square inches.... well i have 4 3" ports which is: 1.5^2 x 3.1415 x 4 = 28.2735 if the box is 4 cu ft and i replace the 3" ported with 4" ports, that would give me about 50 (50.264) square inches but how much would it take from the rest of the box? how would it change the sound and output? and how hard would it be to change the ports out? I think it may be restricting the sub a lil with such lil port area...…

Im in the process of having a box built for my tahoe for a 18" BTL. my boxes dont always come out the way i want so i decided to have this one made by someone who knows what they are doin.. well me being the kind of person i am.. ill bring the info i have from him to you guys and hope to get some support or get me in the right direction. Guy is fully aware of the BTL's and has made several boxes for them in the past. He says he would like to make it 8.5 cubes tuned to 30-35hz and says he will give it a little bit more port area than Fi recommends... does this sound ok to you guys? anyone have something similar or done anything similar. I know here in the fi forums its say…

I have the box in the pic below and I don't believe it's gonna be the best for my Q! I want the most output possible! I'm thinking around 2.5 cuft net with the port around 30 Hz! I have a Rockford Power 1001BD stable @ 2 ohms. I listen to all types of music but love really low notes!! If someone could tell me the dimensions of a box with port dimensions it would REALLY HELP ME ALOT!!! Or, if you have other recommendations!!! Thanks!!!

I have a 15 inch q with bp already, and I need a second one. Just wondering if the parameters will still be close enough that they can share an enclosure and be alright. The new and the old.

Well i built a sealed box with .6cubes net, its not the output i was expecting. I plan on going to a ported enclosure. its going in a 2008 frontier and there isnt enough room to have the sub and port up. the sub will be up and the port will be toward the passenger side. 1. port to the driver or passenger side? 2. i read the sticky and it said .5 - 1.2 cubes is it .5 min and 1.2 optimal or any where in between there will work? 3. should i do a longer narrower port or a shorter but wider one? sub 10" Q amp - hifonics 1208 (1200w @ 1ohm) (yeah right lol) if i get 1000watts out of it her happy max 15" high max 11" wide max 12" deep

I posted on another thread about needing the addy to send a motor in for recone, just didn't want to assume its the website address.. Also is it possible to do a full poly cap on a 3hp 18" recone along the lines of the 10" full FI logo one I saw in a earlier thread, or maybe from a HAVOC 18" plain?? I just prefer the look over the small boob/inverted one.. just wondering if its possible thanks, Joe

Could someone guide me on what size enclosure would be correct for the four of these big bad subs. They are 18 inch btl fully loaded. The customer would like a wall. The ruff dimensions are 35 inches tall, 45 inches wide, and @26 inches deep. Any help with the vent width, hieght, and length would be great.
