i currently have a 1997 mercury mountaineer with 2 q18's. i plan on walling it off behind the second seat with 4 q 18's. heres the problem i run into...the depth from top to bottom of the center of the back is 37.5-38 inches tall. but at the very back where the hatch shuts it drops to about 30 or less inches roughly. how would i go about building a wall with the subs on the same plane and port as well. i wanted to do the port in the middle with a pair of 18's on each side. but how would i get my box in. i want to avoid the pacman style boxes if at all possible. please help thanks. i know there are others out there with their explorers which is the same thing running 4 18'…

I'm going to run 2-18'' BTL's each in there own box with 2500 watts to each sub. I would like to know if 6 cubes each would be good for the power that i'm running or should the box be bigger to reach full xmax? And do you have to add the ports size to the size of the box or not? I know you add the sub displacement to the box so do you add the ports to??? Want to run 2-6'' Precision Ports pre sub tuned @32hz. Does this sound like it would work? Want LOUD DEEEEEEEEEP BASS. And what is the disp. of a fully load BTL? Any help would be great.

I was wondering if you guys had the specs on the btl 15" fully loaded. Specifically the displacement after the 3rd mag', mounting depth, and xmax. I ran a search but no luck. How do I calculate these specs if I want to double the front baffle board. what are they afterwards. thanks for the help in advance.

I will soon be running a fully loaded BTL 15 in a 4 cu ft ported box. Which tuning would be better SPL wise, 45, 48, or 50 hz? I know it is a bad question because it varies, but what has been a good SPL tuning most people have been using? Thanks Dustin If it would be best to build a bigger box would a 4.5 cu ft box after displacements be a good volume for SPL? Thanks. Dustin

I'm going to order four 10 " Q's to be mounted sealed each connected to it's own Alpine PDX 1.1000 , ( all 4 were benched at 1200 RMS ) , my question is BP power or no BP power , i have seen posts where they were said to perform wonderfully under 1000 watts , and many more that stated they could take more , so i'm confused as to if i should BP them or nt please answer , thank you

ok, well my box broke today, so now i have even more incentive to build a new one. this time i plan on using aero ports that way i can change it out from a daily driver to spl... im not sure how big i want to build it this time, what would be the pros/cons of building a bigger box, say around 5 cubes compared to something closer to 4.

I just bought two 15" SSDs with the copper coil option..I will be giving them 1500 watts.. I have a '95 4-door Blazer they will be going in. My question is, what size box and tuning would be ideal for the best LSQ I can get out of this? I want the subs to be able to get LOW also.. And how much port area?> I am new to multiple sub setups.. Does each 15" need its on chamber? On another note. WOuld I get better results with the subs/port facing back towards the hatdch, or sub up, port back CRX style?

Hey guys. I'm trying to finish up designing the subwoofer/amp combo for my 02 Yukon. I currently have an RE SX 15, 5.5 cubes at 33hz, on a jbl bp1200.1 My new one will be a single fully loaded BTL 18, 8 cubes, exactly 119 sq inches port area, at 33hz. It will be fed by a Hifonics Colossus (3200rms at 2). All power/ground will be 1/0 KnuKoncepts Kollosus cable (5000+ strands), Optima Yellowtop up front, Iraggi Amputator 175 idle/220 at 1400, possibly another yellowtop in the rear later on. Box will be 48Lx24.5Dx18.5Hl, with an internal dimentions of 46.5x23x17, with a 7x17" port (119sq inches port area) and 28" long. The port itself (with MDF included) will take up approxi…

Does anyone have plans for a ported box for a Fi 15" Q? It will be in the back of my 06 impala. I can post the dimensions of my trunk later, but any help would be awesome. I was looking for something tuned around 30-35 hz. Basically, I want something thats gonna really make my Q slam because all I really listen to is rap. Thanks.

I WAS WONDERING IF I COULD FIT 2 15'' BTL'S IN MY TRUNK. IF NOT COULD I FIT 2 12'S? I wanted to build a ported sub enclosure tuned to 32 hz. I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS SOMEONE I COULD PAY TO DESIGN ME A SUB ENCLOSURE? AND I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW IF HAVING 1 AMP POWER BOTH SUBS IS ANY BETTER THAN HAVING ONE AMP PER SUB (FOR EXAMPLE 2-2,000 WATT AMPS AS OPPOSED TO 1 4,000 WATT AMP? IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME OUT I WOULD APPRECIATE IT, THANKS, IM TERRIBLE AT MATH. My trunk mesurements are in the following link, I wasn't able to figure out how to post the picture. Trunk specs

I was wondering to expand my knowledge and thought others here would benefit from my ever growing thirst for knowledge... i thought i would ask to help myself avoid these problems and also help educate those that aren't aware of these issues and how to avoid and/or discover the following problems.. Anyways.... as it pertains to sub woofers (particularly Fi built ones since i own some) 1. What is mechanical failure? 2. What are signs of mechanical failure (sight, sound, smell)? 3. What are the most common reasons for a sub to experience mechanical failure ? 4. What is thermal issues/problems in regards to sub woofers 5. What are signs of Thermal problems/issues (sight, so…

I've been playing with my max dimensions and the biggest/best box I can come up with will be 12.33cu ft w/ 192.5sq in of port tuned to 32hz. I would like 13-14cu ft but the only way I can get any more box volume will be to shrink the port. Will these specs do okay for a daily driver that does part time competitions? Primarily it is a ground pounder. Thanks

I was driving to San Francisco today listening to music in the car not all that loud and about 3/4 of the trip I noticed that the brakes started to respond slower. For example, I'd press down the brakes 1/3 of the way down and it won't respond until I press halfway down until the brakes even start working. By the time I arrived in the city, I popped the hood and I noticed that the wires were coming loose from the fuse holder. What's even worse was that the wire was in contact with something metal and I saw some burn marks with something black that melted as well, probably plastic. Anyways, I made it safely, but it turns out I didn't do a great job with the wiring. Althoug…

This is the box I came up with, but just by the numbers, I don't know what the response will be like and how smooth it will be. Box: 44"x18"x20" (outer dimensions) and 37.5"x16.5"x18.5" (inner dimensions using 3/4" mdf excluding port) Port: 4"X16.5" slot on left 18.5" long That should leave me with ~6.6cubes before displacement and a ~33hz tuning. Subs are running off of my US Amps MD2 at 1 ohm. ~1800w rms What do you think?

I am buying 4 15's and I wanted to know which was the better choice. I understand that they both have the same RMS wattage I am going for more spl and lower bass. I wanted to know which sub would produce more bass in the lower octave. I have no problem as far as space I just wanted to know which produces more output.

I have a BL 10" with DVC 2 ohm coils, I am wondering how hard it is to install the recone kit FI sells to recone it to DVC 1 ohm coils. I am asking because I am now considering ordering another BL 10", but I would need a DVC 1 ohm to get my amp down to 1 ohm . I know there are some out there that have ordered the kits from Fi, so guys, how hard was it for YOU to recone your sub with the kit??
