placed an order this weekend for a 12" BL that will be running off of a hifonics 1606. i've drawn out plans for a box thats 2.33@33hz w/33 sq. in. of port area (haha). will the hifonics be enough to push the sub? i can go bigger on the box to let it use the power a bit more efficiently, but whats your guys' opinions on this? anyone w/experience as to exactly how much power the hifonics is capable of putting out?

My sub sounds like ass in the box that I currently have it in. Waaaay too much port noise! I am only running a single sub right now, but I will have two Q's pretty soon. I am in desperate need of a box design to fit my needs, my parameters are as follows: (Max Dimensions Given) Depth - 15" Height - 16" Width - 34" I need the box tuned to about 32HZ. I would like to keep the chambers separate, as it might be a while before I buy the other sub. I would like to hear what the first sub sounds like before spending more money on another 1. All help would be appreciated. You can PM me on caraudio.com under Qbenjamin.

I'm looking to recone two LA storm X1 10's. I want to use 12's instead. So what I need is two 12in baskets, and two recone assemblies that fit in the 3HP gap. I haven't been able to find out anything about the gap, other than its a 3in coil. But I saw at CA that you guys reconed a 3HP neo. What series coil fits? Thats the question. As it is right now, I have a Fosgate 1000D on each sub, so dual 1.4 or 2ohm coils would be what I want. I can say that they will be going in a 5cu ported box. (thats the largest I can fit in my car.) And I'll be using them for daily.

DAMNIT, well i heard a lilttle noise coming from my speaker today, hadnt played it in about a week, but anyway, i pulled it out the box to find that i have 2 holes in the spiders from tinsel leads, and numerous rips, guessing its from playing below tuning. i need to know how much a recone is scott, i dont know wether i will or just sell it, looking to get a new truck and there wont be room for a BTL 15, its loaded by the way, What to do??????/

Hey guys, bottom line is i have designed a few enclosures and they sucked. I'm not so bad on the building part, just the calculating port length and area and volume and stuff. I have a 15Q and was wondering if someone could design me a box of around i dunno 3-4cubes tuned to like 30-33hz. My trunk limits the box to be like 16-16.5 inches tall (otherwise it won't slide in) and uhh yeah thats the only real limitation. Thanks in advance.

hey guys i'm about to get a box built by a friend and was wondering what the best size enclosure would be for my 12" Q. I've searched and read the website which recommends 1.8-2.5 @ 28-33 hz. I've heard mixed opinions, as I should as its personal preference, but what seems to be the best size/tuning for this sub for maximum output while maintaining good sound quality? Thanks!

Hello, I am new to this forum and the proud owner of a new dual 2 ohm Q12 with BP option. I am looking to build a ported box for the sub tuned to the recommened 32hz. I would appreciate some help with the design. The sub will be powered by a Soundstream PCA1500D. I will most likely run the sub at 4 ohms for a while until I upgrade my Big 3 sometime this summer. I would like the box to be a slot port with rounded corners somewhere in the range of ~2 cubic feet. The box will be made out of 3/4" mdf Box outer size (max): 12.5" tall 30" or 32" wide (can't recall the correct measurement right now) Depth is variable So far my calculations have brought me to the following: …

I am toying with the idea of putting 2 12" SSDs in a ported box. My original plan was to seal them, but I don't know what kind of output I would get. Could someone help me design a ported box for these subs? I am totally new to ported boxes so I don't know where to start. I'd like to maintain as much SQ as possible and gain as much output as possible. Dimension wise, my trunk could accomodate a box 39" across and 17" high. Depth is negotiable, depending on the size of box needed. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a 15" Loaded BTL that is in 4cubes. The box is .75 MDF. I will rebuild the box, should I doublewall anything other than the front baffle? I will probably resin the inside of the box, as well as brace it at several places.

All of my subs I own have the positive terminal on the left and negative on the right. Whether they be single or dual they are always in this fashion. I ordered a 15 sexxx recone for a se and a claw basket. I also ordered new terminals and wanted to make sure that I'm not going to install them incorrectly. My glue should be here in a day or so(I hope) and would like to start when it arrives. Thanks CJ

I have a 12" BTL with pole chamfer and my Memphis MCD2500 amp is coming in soon. I want to get everything ready so when the amp arrives I can install it right away. This is my mustang 2004 stock electrical: 130-amp. heavy-duty alternator 540 CCA heavy-duty battery Battery amp hours (58Ah) Battery-rundown protection I will be doing the big 3 wire upgrade with 1/0 gauge wire from batt to alt to ground. Besides that, what else should I invest in? I'm trying to keep it as budget as possible. Thanks. PS> This is my daily driver.

Hey, this is my first post here at the SSA forum (oh whoopee ).... My question (YES, QUESTION!) concerns the tuning and enclosure sizing for the Fi Q18 D2! Firstly, I'm not too sure about the relationship between enclosure volume and tuning frequency. I did see the enclosure sticky, but am tuning differently than the sticky shows and am also not sure if the size stays the same for all tunings or not...I'm thinking it changes. I plan to tune to 16hz and wondered if 30ft

I will be running 2-18'' BTL's off of 2-MTX TE4001D's. I would like to know if this power setup is good for what I need to run my amps. Yollew top for the starter with a 200 amp alternator, 200 amp isolator, and 2 yellow tops in the rear for the sub amps. How would I wire the 2 yellow tops in the rear. + to + and - to - ? Ground each battery or only 1? Any help with this would be great and where and what battery, alternator,or isolator I should use? And what is the Big 3? Thanks Fi buddies...

Hello. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab, and I want a "system". I have figured up that I have about 1.7-1.8 cubes of space behind the seat. I was originally wanting 2 12's, but I would still like to have the massive amount of storage space that Dodges have. So I was just wonding if I could fit an SSD 15 behind my passenger seat. The top of the box will be 6.5" deep, and the bottom will be 10.5" deep. The reason for going with a 15 instead of a 12, is just for the coolness factor of saying, "Yeah, I've got a 15". Thanks for any responces!!!
