ok i have been reading back through several posts on this forum and others, and i have some questions regarding ssa subs. from what i read most people consider the icon to comparable to the fi ssd and i have seen people comparing the xcon to the q mostly a few have said its like a bl..is this pretty acurate? i was truly considering a 18 xcon but if its more toward a sq sub thats not really the way i want to go. But if its more like the bl i am more likely to order it. Still torn between a few different subs but keep coming back to thew xcon for some reason. thanks

whats up ssa, alright so i see the new zcon line is going into production soon . Right now im running a 12" bl on a aq2200 @ 2ohms. Im thinking of upgrading to something with a more ouput and more sound quality because the bl's just dont have that warm deep solid sound that im looking for. Also honestly it just doesnt get loud enough for me. So i see the new zcons and there looking pretty damn good and from what little iv read about them they are sounding like something iv been looking for for a while. So my question to you knowledgable people is do you think with that 2250 watts will it get louder then the 12" bl, i know its not a spl speaker and thats fine but its gotta…

I have a Original Kove Armageddon sub woofer 1050rms 22mm xmax 89db sensitivity. I have heard a car that can hit 144db and i knew right away mine was as loud, so I know my sub is roughly 140db. I want The best SQ sub that can achieve this within the 1000-1600rms range, and I would like it to be the best SQ possible for under $400. It would be nice to have a flat response down to 30hz and I would like it to some extent be able to hit down to 18hz. My enclosure size is limited to a maximum of 4.0 cubic feet. Thanks

Ok so I will be getting an 18 soon, still debating whether an AA SMD or an SSA XCON (The SMD is like $400 more, idk if the gains are worth that much) Anyways, before anything I know I need to have my electrical ready so here comes my question. Right now my Ford Expedition is 100% stock. It only has a 2000D powering a Pioneer 12inch sub with 1000watts RMS. I know the Big 3 is A MUST HAVE. But, do I need a new alternator? Do I need a new battery? Do I need more than my stock battery? The reason to ask is because if I get the sub + the enclosure, I will most likely have no money left for a new alternator or new/extra battery. And hopefully the 4gauge that I have right now wi…

Hey guys, I am maybe looking at doing a Diy component set using the Mli-65 Mach speakers. Right now I currently have 5 1/4inch Alpine type S speakers in Q-logic kickpanels becuase my car is a 94 cavalier which only supports 3 1/2 speakers, so I bought the kicks instead, With that being said I was wondering if there is any way I could make A wooden baffle so that I could mount 6.5inch mids in the kicks? Also how would the Mli-65's work in a Diy component set? I was thinking something like Wiring the Mli-65's directly to an amp, then from the mli-65's run a inline bass blocker to the tweeters do you think that will work okay or am I better off buying a inline crossover? I …

I ordered two dual two fi ssd subs. I built my whole system around the subs. I built the box to spec, upgraded all my electrical, ordered a sundown 2500 for them. It's took awhile to get it all built and I'm still waiting on the amp. Adw the problem I have is when I boxed the subs I noticed that they had no movement. I just thought they were reply stiff. Got everything installed just waiting on amp, but wanted to see how they sounded. I hooked them up in series and put them on a 1000d just to here them. Their was no movement and just produced little sound. Within just a few seconds in there started to be a burning smell. Needless to say I unhooked immediately and removed …

It's been ripped before but previous owner "fixed" it. He used sillicone I believe? But anyways the sub easily can take 200rms from my mtx amp but when I wired it to two ohms so I can get 400rns thats when things got bad. Volume on headunit was at 28, everything 0 on headunit, gains on amp half way up. Song: I'm on one by DJ khaled My buddies and I watched the sub flex and next thing you knew "FLAP!" the previous rip on the foam surrounding was ripped, again. Tears almost ran down my face :'( Comes to show you dont always know what ur gettin, I know nothing of sub recones and fixes so I wasn't sure myself if the the fix was actually fixed, evidently it wasn't. Ok first off if you haven't heard them, don't flame please. I'm just wondering if I should get these, cause I'm going to buy these door panels that originally had a set of these in them (abc6003q I think)...and as all of you know, I'm going for loud so please don't flame like in all my other threads! IF(notice the if) I run these, ill get 2 sets, 2 6.5s and 1 4" in each door, and 1 4" in each kick, along with 1 set of tweets, and the other set of tweets will go in the dash. If I don't run these, should I just run 4 sets of 6.5" components? If so, what are some good brands/models that will get ungodly loud? Not looking to spend a ton, as I'm not going for sq as you all kno…

I got rid of the last 3 i owned due to numerous issues i've had with them. My first car was a civic, and well, i've always wanted a blue SI. I found this one a couple states away fs for 6k. Tons of mods, decent mileage, and extremely good on gas, so i said why not? Pic from a meet a month before i took ownership It's pretty much perfect exterior wise. Just needs a rear lip and darker tint. Doing some measurements, i have about 5 1/2 cubes available for a sub box. Here are my options 3 12" xcons sealed. This would be the cheapest of the 3 since i already have 2 1 15" aa smd. Not sure how much one of these will cost me, I've heard from 800 to a 1k? 2 12" zcons What w…

  16. I've been nursing this for a number of months now. It will be in the assembly stage within weeks. Pictured below is the voice coil of the next Mach 5 build - wound by yours truly. This will eliminate power compression so it will simply get louder with additional power applied. In the center (of the first pic) is a 3" coil to give you an idea of its size.

Two 12" RL-p's (ported) or two 15" RL-p's sealed. I am planning to do a 1.5 cube ported to around 32-34 hz. The two 15"S will be in a 2 cube box. I will buy tonight, weather/internet connection permitting.

I built my bro a box to house two CDT EF 8" subs. The box is tiny but meets the minimum recommended volume. If the bass is turned up much, whether it be by volume knob, gain, or bass knob, the subs have a high pitched electronic noise. This goes away if one sub is taken out. The only thing I can think of is that the 3" of space between the two magnets is not enough and are causing distortion. Any other possibilities? Oh yea, the subs face away from eachother so the magnets are back to back.

my coworker just got in some Xtants. they are 10" and he is running 150W off a JL 5 channel amp and they sound quite nice, clear, linear, and smooth. not as loud as i would like but quite musical. I am running my home computer sub in my truck off my Viper 2500.1D in my truck right now while i decide on new subs. it is far more musical and flat than my SP4 was and while - at the time - i wanted to have ultra low and super loud i feel i have experienced that and wish to build a much more musical system. the sub i have in my truck right now is this one, purchased when i was 16 and has been used for many years, it is in a 4.7 cubic box tuned to 35Hz and i want my new subs to…

i want a system that is crazy loud with great frequency range. i like hearing the jumps and drops from one frequency sweep to the next in my songs. i had a sub @44hz that i loved but it was not loud enough and had no low end (44hz, no low end? go figure). so i bought a new one and tuned to 35 and now i have no high end. so my thought was this. what about building a wall, dual ported subs with one tuned to 32hz and the second at 40 or 45hz. installing xovers and subsoncs to prevent the 2 subs from over laping one another. would this work or should i just build a sealed box and be done with it? i was thinking 2 SP4 18's
