Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. We're selling the heck out of these long-awaited amps. But we haven't had a chance to actually hear any of the 2-channel amps on any subs yet. We stock the 200.2, 400.2, and 600.2. The amps have been very, very well received. But all our sales so far have been over-the-counter sales. Haven't actually had a chance to see how they compare to say the XTA series from SoundStream that we had prior to the release of the AutoSound amplifiers. Any dissappointments or surprises with the ASA amps? Any expected availability date on the ASA 1000.1 and 2000.1 amps?

Hey all, I'm looking at getting some new gear for a 2000 Honda Civic Coupe. In the past I've had a set up that included: MB Quart Components front and rear, Eclipse 15 subs (2) and Fosgate amps to power everything (1 360.6, and two 250.2). I'm beyond the big boomy base and mostly listen to metal/rock (NIN, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Slipknot) along with some lighter stuff (Echo and the Bunnymen, Morrissey, etc.). I'm basically looking for a compromise of playing loud and sounding really good (something that doesn't sound muddy or tinny). I've listened to some Alpine Type X's and thought they sounded great. I'm basically trying to find a convertible/"coax" component set …

  4. Hi guys, I am considering doing an upgrade on my factory speakers. I have a Toyota Yaris Hatchback with a current setup of stock head unit, stock speakers, and a pioneer bass tube (The Pump TS-WX20LPA). I am not into SPL, rather a solid SQ which at least I can impress my friends with and which I can enjoy listening of course. I live in a small country and the choice of brands is rather limited and few shops let you listen to the speakers before actual installation. So I'm counting on you guys to help me in making a good choice Right now on top of my list are the Focal Access 165A or the Kicker KS. I also went to a shop which supplies Hertz (I heard they also make good c…

ok. i built my boxes (still unsure about the subs), and the port came out looking funny. I'm almost sure, but just to be extra sure, i figured someone could help me out. when i ported my boxes, i took the cubic inches of a different boxe's port (3 cubes at 34 htz) and used the same on my 3 cube box (also at 34 htz) the difference is that it isnt as deep, but longer... even though the dimensions are different, because they both have the same cubic inches of port, it's still tuned to the same freq, correct? thanks

I'm looking to get either 1 18 or 2 15's. I know most of you are going to say 2 15's!!!! But I don't want to spend too much money, ($500) Right now I'm looking at 2 15" Planet Audio Big Bangs, I don't remember the model number but they say 1500 rms a piece. Or i'm looking at like a DC Level 5, Nightshade, or a BTL all 18" I have 3k and 6 cubic feet to play with. What do you guys suggest. I'm open to new ideas too. but thats my power, budget, and room

Hi All, As some of you have mentioned, I threw up some snaps of a 12" prototype sub on the site. I have just added another one - a 20" unit. I'll be spending a bit of time with these in the near future. Head to this link to see them: http://testbed.mach5audio.com Best regards, Mark

Well bad news. Was about to order the second level 6 18 but apparently all the m4 motors are gone. Theve just released the m5 motor. Soo it was all up in the air over either some sp4v2's or new btl neo's. Tried contacting FI three separate times over the past few months with no response. Thus it looks like I shall order a pair of evils in the next couple weeks. I'm not bashing. But I've seen the service ssa provides. And that's the service I'd like to get as a paying customer. God knows this isn't a cheap hobby.

Hey all.I know im going to get hammered with "your a noob" and crap like that but I need to know something.Im pretty limited on space in the trunk of my 2001 galant.I need room for a box, batteries, ect and im trying to figure out which route i need to go.Right now I have sitting in my backseat 2 15" american bass xfl subs.I want to get a box built for them for my trunk but everyone on here and elsewhere seems to think the box would be to small for them.SO, I am wondering if I could get a single 15" Fi BTL N3 and get a box built to specs for the sub and be as loud as the 2 american bass xfls in a small box. My goal is to be loud on music and I have a 220amp HO alt and im ru…

Hey guys, so I am making a LOUD daily pounder with a good possibility for competition. I keep reading stuff about adding midbass up front. At the moment I am planning on running 4 12's (either havocs or BLs) in the back off of about 6k watts total (probably 2 sundowns for amps). I am lookin at RF 5.25" comp sets for the doors (at least up front), more than likely an entire set per side, 1 speaker+tweet in the door and one in the A-pillar. Will I be needing midbass??? And if so, is it okay to put that in something like a kick panel instead of doing MAJOR refab work to the door?

Well, Im new here so why not annoy all the old timers with the question of what should I buy. The basics: 2006 Hyundai sonata - large trunk, around 16-17 cubes, partially deadened. I generally prefer sealed, although ported could work. I dont want to use more than 2 cubes, and preferably less. I am looking at quite a few different amps, but assume 600-1000 watts at a 2 ohm load. I would like to see 134 db. I am not dead set on any particular size, although I have considered two or three 10", or a pair of 12s, maybe a single 15. Would like to keep it under $250 usd for the sub. I have used elemental designs, alpine, kicker, and a couple other lesser brands but for various …

what the main diffences and how do u go about both an active and passive system. which is more effective? which is more expensive? im runing polk db 5.25s in the door and db1000 tweets in the sails. i was thinking about amping them and runing new mids because with the tweeters on the coaxils and the extra tweets in the sails it gets alittle to bright. also i have a lack of midrange to mid bass. sould i just amp them and see how it sounds or replace them with a new pair.... i heard aa is putin out some new mids but what would u all suggest.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and fairly new to car audio. I happened upon this site a few days ago and saw the MAW-15's, and have read some reviews on them. I'm pretty sure I want to buy them, but I would like some input on them, first. I've been thinking about buying an IDQ15 for awhile. But, if I can pick up a sub for 1/3 of the price that sounds as good(or damn near close to it), then it's a no-brainer. I'm willing to go up to $300 for a sub. That doesn't mean, though, that I necessarily want to spend that much. I'm figuring on 500-600 wrms, and I don't want to go over 2.5 cu. ft. For the most part I'm looking for SQ. Keep in mind I'm not trying to do a competi…

Well to start off i have a 95 camry, my previous system was stolen which was a 15'' L5 on a punch 1001bd in a sealed it was loud but not enough so im not that disappointed that its gone but now im looking for something better. I just came back from a few audio shops to get some ideas. i was thinking four sealed 12 but the way the box will have to be will make the two outside subs starve for airspace, so i started looking into some subs that will be alright in a small enclosure...(JL 12w6v2)the guys recommended three 12's or two 15's the subs im looking into are... Two 15's BTL AQ HDC3 L7 Four 12's Cvx 12w6v2 Fi Q The amps will probally be two AQ2200 but im open for sugges…
