I'm in the process of getting all the components together for the SQ install going in my new truck in August. I'm trying to nail ldown the last piece of the puzzle, the bottom octave (or two). The vehicle is a 2007-2008 (there are still new 2007s around) Nissan Frontier King Cab. The system goal is accurate reproduction at listenable levels. The rest of the system consists of a Kenwood DNX-8120 (the wife insisted that I get the more expensive unit with the nav functions), an Altomobile Drive 30 (extremely powerful 6 channel processor that does filtering, time alignment, EQ and a few other things independently for each of the 6 channels), active front stage consisting o…

Hi, I'm about to sell my Xcon 15" locally. I know I will buy some more Xcons in the future, but for now I think I'm going to get the new Fi BTL. Here is my problem : I have a ported box with (2) 4" psp ports, 17" long each. Net volume (with one xcon) is about 3.1 - 3.2 ft3. So tuning is around 32-33 Hz. What would you do ? Get a 15" Btl or a 12" ? The box is on the small side for a 15" and maybe too big for a 12". I can make a smaller box in the future, but I need to use this one for a moment. Oh, I forgot to say that my car is a hatchback toyota Auris 4 doors, with a small cargo area. My amplifier is a Sundown saz 1500, and my electrical is good for the power I use. I w…

I just sent payment for a used xcon and I'm wondering if someone could help me out. By the pics, is this a current model and if i were to order another 12" new from ssa would it be a matching sub? Just that pics of others seem to have a black spider on them. http://i146.photobuc...9-38-01_429.jpg http://i146.photobuc...19-36-51_73.jpg http://i146.photobuc...9-36-22_312.jpg Thanks!

I've built a couple of hundred boxes all the way from 2 6w0s in a Ranger to 3 Shockers in a 200SX wall(12 10"s earlier in the same wall) and 8 12"s in my Eclipse I used to have, as well as the run of the run of the mill multiple 13W7s, JUGGS, 2 12"s and everyday beaters middle of the road subs, as well as helping db drag and MECA guys at any opportunity cause that's how I get down to always give a helping hand. Now that I finally got a job my next future woofers will be beasts and I know simple screws will shear and break. My problem is (and I have TRIED T nuts before with dissapointing results mounting them) I need you guys' help. If anyone can take a few pictures an…

I like being able to comfortably fit two golf bags & pull carts in my trunk. A free air install in the rear deck would allow me to retain the vast majority of my cavernous trunk. Having only played with the idea in a large enough wall enclosure that it may as well have been free-air, I'd like to hear experiences. It wouldn't be a huge loss to tuck a 1.5' box in the trunk, so if infinite baffle is more trouble then it's worth, please say so. TIA Nick woofer specs: FS: 47hz Qts 0.593 Qes 0.635 Qms 8.935 Vas 3.34L Wrms 500 The suspension & motor control are strong. I know what BassBoxPro says, I also know its incredibly outdated, thank you though.

Hey guys, been a long time since I've been around on the forum here. I've mainly been doing performance stuff on my car, but am bored again with my system in the truck. I have an 08' crew cab silverado and already had a custom box with 2 JL8w7's. Rear seat has been lifted 2" to accommodate larger boxes. I just picked up a DD m1c as I think that's the most powerful amp i'll be able to use without further upgrading my electrical system. I can build a box up to a a total of about 2.7 cubic feet, maybe 3.0 total absolutely maxing out space. I can fit 8's front facing, or if I downfire them I can fix up to 15" with up to 7.5" mounting depth. I'm looking for as loud as p…

Alright ... dual Shiva's ... amp = Arc 1500D-R. Right now they're firing upwards in 1.25 cubes per driver. I'm pleased with their performance, but I personally think they can do a bit more. I've tried 1 cube per driver, 1.25/driver, and 1.5/driver all sealed, with and without polyfill. I stuck with the 1.25/driver with polyfill just because that's what sounded the best to me. I've also tried 1.75/driver ported to 24hz. Wasn't too bad. Keep in mind they are firing upwards. It's a Chevy 2500HD ... big truck, four door, custom center console ... woofers in the back half of the truck firing upwards. Bucket seats in the back if you can picture it ... the console divides…

SI is doing a system in a customers house and we ordered the 9" Sunfire Jr subwoofer for this application (cost and size). For those of you who don't know what a Sunfire Jr is, it is an 8" driver with an 8" PR and a 1400 watt amplifier all inside a 9" cube that is finished beautifully (a deep deep deep red - almost black - wood laquered finish)! We hooked it up next to the line arrays and this little sucker wangs HARD! On normal music it kept up with the line arrays just fine - ample bass all the way around, fairly tight...actually pretty darned tight for an out-of-the-box PR setup. The extension on this little bugger is impressive! It did just fine with an 85 Hz c…

I have a mag 12 now in 2.0 cubes at 32. I am trading for a 15, but not sure if I want it ported due to the size requirements. I have heard both sealed and ported 12's and liked both. If I seal the 15 I know it will get lower, but will i lose a lot of output over the ported 12. Both getting 1100 watts from my memphis 1000d. Its in the trunk of a Grand Prix. I listen to everything form Metal to some rap

Well this wknd I got so pissed off... you know the type where you want to distroy the world. Anyway I through a remote(big TV remote) and the bastard thing smached into my sub busting the dustcap and slightly denting the top of the coil. Now Im going to try and fix it but need to know if i can use a domed dustcap where the previous one was inverted. will it change the sound/performance alot? was planning to use it for an SPL project as this budget sub gets louder then my BL and can take the abuse. It cant take a direct hit from a remote though. would appreciate your imput.

Ok guys i know that in my previous threads i said i was going with the xcon 12 but dunds are a littke tighter than before so but i could still get the xcon but it would be a little longer of a wait so my question is on 1000 watts which would be louder in a 2.5cft box tuned to 33 hertz

Hey everyone, I should be getting my 12" D2 soon and I wanted to ask a couple questions about boxes and powering it. I'm looking for more SQ than SPL, clean loud low-end thump is what im looking for Now as far as power is concerned I can push it with either a JBL1200.1 or a Orion 2500. I was thinking 2^3 sealed pumping it with the Orion OR 3^3 ported tuned to ~25hz pushed by the JBL. Anyone have any opinions on the subject? I have a feeling I'm gonna need to buy another D2 to get what I'm looking for. TIA

Hey guys.. I was all set up to do 261's for L&R and a 61 for the center, but now I decided I want to do a 261 there as well.. So at the very least I'd like to get ahold of a PCB for the 261 crossover, or better yet a complete crossover. If I must I'd be willing to buy the whole kit, and then sell or trade my 61 components. I'd assume the extremis is the same in the 61 and 261? Are they still available? I wan't really woried about it until I found out the old speaker kids got cancelled! Thanks guys, really appreciate it..

Okay.... So this is another thread for me about my front stage... new ideas and different product.. I'm really liking the Image Dynamics (which can be found HERE)and the Morel Tempo 6 (which can be found HERE) ... Question now is... Which would have potential for more output(volume) and retain the quality... Doors are deadened and I may do more down the road so that shouldn't be a huge concern right now... Amplifier is currently a Boston Acoustics GT2-125 ... 125w @ 4ohms.... I usually listen to volume of 40-50 out 62 on my Pioneer HU ... Any more info needed let me know.... Help would be much appreciated.... My badd guys I forgot to change the topic title....
