Ok, let me start by saying I don't know chit about active, passive, crossovers, etc. I'm looking to get a new highs setup. I have a set of cadence components which I guess would be passive. I have a singlecab silverado so I was kinda thinking about losing the rear speakers completely and running just the front. Im guessing active would be the best way to go. What do I need to do this? I plan on getting 2 mli-65's to start and a good four-channel amp. The HU i have now is a pioneer premier DEH6800MP. From what i've read, I dont think this HU is that great when it comes to the audio settings. I'm debating on replacing the pioneer with an eclipse cd5000 but what do you g…

hey guys, i normally dont put aftermarket door speakers in my car bc i have never had anything loud enough to need them lol, but i got an 18" fi q and its pretty loud. my door speakers are in the process of becoming blown lol, so im looking to upgrade...i dont really want to run an amp, would like to just do some speakers, preferably that will fit in the stock location. it will be in a 2003 ford focus zx3. the stock speakers are 6x8 and 3 inches deep. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx guys.

  7. Hey Guys I have a few questions with a new stereo install on my 2014 F350 super duty crew cab. I currently have 2 phoenix Gold D2 12's with a Phoenix gold elite.1 amp. The subs output 1600 RMS each and the custom box build is at 34hz. I have custom cut my door panels to fit 5 1/2" focal speakers and tweets using 1/4" MDF. The back seat is a 60/40 split bench and the backrest all the way across has been removed to accommodate the sub box into the cab to provide more room. I have installed 100% dynamat into the 4 doors, the roof and the back panel. I have two AGM batteries under the hood that operate the diesel truck. There is also two factory alternators that will now be g…

  8. I was just getting ready to design a new box for my D2 and noticed that Stereo Integrity and the D2 are no longer listed as of BassBox Pro version 6.0.18. They used to be, but I installed the latest patch bringing me up to version 6.0.18 Pro and I can't find it listed to save my life. Anyone else missing it as well? Strange that they would remove it. I don't want to have to enter all of the data manually

im seeing some great reveiws for this cheap set of comps. the stock locations in the doors is a 5.25 and i can get the pg rds-5cs for 80$ shipped. i havent found a set of 6" anywhere but i did find a 6.5" set on ebay for 120$. is 40$ worth the money? will the difference in size make much difference? does anyone have a better price for the 6.5" or 6"? id like the added midbass but for another 40$ idk if i wana spend that on speakers or the amp... im also not sure if i can get the 6.5" in the door. the 5.25s are mounted in a plastic (not sure how to describe it..) extrusion in kind of like a kick... but anyways there is hole behind that plastic thing which may, along with…

hello everyone, i'm new to this board , but not new to car audio. let me just list my setup so there are no questions... denon dct-1 ppi par245and deq230 morel supremos, elate sw5.25's and 9's 2 ppi ax606.2's, 1 a600.2, 1 a1200.2 sub???? here is the thing, the two ax606.2's are dedicated to my three way setup up front, so i have a choice to run either the a600.2 or the a1200.2. i'm competeing in sq, but i'll have a sub volume control so i will be able to crank it when i want, but for the most part i'm looking for a sub(s) that will blend seemlessly with the rest of my components. i know you guys are probably biased towards the magnum, but if you are list why and what othe…

Going to triple baffle the box and have some internal bracing. max dimensions for my GTI are 30x28x28 Still new to car audio so id really appreciate if someone could verify that the enclosure im building would sound good. my sub is the neo 4.7 15" with an extra spider and omega coil, yes i know i should have gone with the 4.9 oh well... thanks

looking at 300-500 watts RMS, would not like to spend much more than 200 right now im thinking ID12v3D4 Diamond Audio D312 I like the FISSD and FIQs, but they have RMS ratings of like 800-1000, and I don't want to drop a bunch of money on a huge amp im much more concerned with sound quality but would like it to get semi-loud at times I'm almost set on the ID12 but wanted to just get some final opinions

Hello all. Looking for input and opinions on which subwoofer would be the better choice, (ICON or DC LVL 3) for my scenario and for longevity. I have managed to destroy 2 Fosgate T1 15D2's in less then 2 years. Think it is time to find something of better quality or can handle my music/listening style better. Which consists of everything under the sun and usually very loud! So I need something that can handle whatever I throw at it. I don't compete and don't plan on it. Just enjoy my music... Thanks in advance and everyone have a great day!!! Quick run down of vehicle and system: 2001 VW Jetta 0g Power & Ground (from front to back) Big 3…

  20. I've been putting this off for too long just researching so i forced myself to finalize a box and i did today so there's no turning back now! This is what i have to work with and YOU will decide what goes in my car Box specs- EXTERNAL- Height - 17.75" Width - 36.25" Depth - 17.75" Double Baffle Design INTERNAL GROSS - 5.06 cubes Amps - 2 AQ2200Ds or 2 Opti2000Ds I won't buy the amps until i know what ohm load i'm working with. Both capable of producing 4,000w at 1 ohm or 2 ohm so their's your start. Port spec - This is port displacement based upon power used. IF you pick a design that can't handle 4kw, then port will take up less volume allowing more NET volume. 4KW- 0…

  22. I will soon be running Two SA-12s on a saz 1500d and i want to get new speakers. The ones i have in my car now are terrible, 1 is blown and the others are on the way out as well. They are 6 1/2 all around and im looking for opinions on reasonably good speakers i could pick up at best buy or something of that nature. I have seen some speakers that go for $200+ a pair and have heard of others that are half that that and do just as much.

So i just got my new infinity kappa speakers a few days ago. While i was installing them, i noticed they were crackling alot while i was screwing them to the door. After a good amount of investigation, i came to realize that the frame of the speaker (or any metal on it) was creating a short on the door of the car itself. I could take my knife and touch the speaker frame and then touch the door, and it would short with sparks arching at the other end. The stock speakers were coated in plastic around that area so that the screw was isolated from the speaker and wouldnt short. Does any one know why this is happening? any ideas on how to keep it from happening on my new spea…

So my friend blew his 10" PowerBass sub in his pickup truck the other day.. He sent it off to be repaired, and wanted to get something cheap to replace it til it gets back. He goes and buys a 60$ Sony Xplode from wal-mart. He called me up and asked me if I would install his new sub.. not telling me it was a Xplod. So I get to his house and start laughing. But nonetheless, I put it in for him. After it was wired up, I had to see how it sounded.. The Xplod sounded 2x as good, and loud as the PB ever though about being. SMH. The PB was a DVC 4 ohm sub, and the Xplod is a SVC 4 ohm.. I just thought this was pretty humorous, since the local car audio dealer charged him 100$+ …
