Deciding between a 15" SI Mag D2 and a 18" RE SX. Opinions on both would be greatly appreciated. WHich one has better SQ, SPL, which one gets louder, etc. And my other question is, is the 15" SI Mag reliable for a daily driven ride? Will it play for me at least a year without requiring me to recone or replace something? And is it still durable enough to take to competitions a couple weekends a year? And this will be going into a 2003 Ford Focus 2 Door Hatchback, so I'm pretty sure it will pound. And I'm sorry if this is a repost, I didn't see a search feature. Oh, and great collection of smilies

  4. Hi all! My first post and got hip to this site from a fellow car club member here in Phoenix, AZ. My question is pretty basic and applies to my 1995 Chevrolet Impala SS. Here it goes: *cut and paste* * Mids & tweets in the stock location or mids in stock location and tweeter higher up? * Coaxials vs. Seperates? Advantages/disadvantages? * Rears: 6 x 9 in stock location or ??? <--I'm thinking medium grade just for fill in hopes of saving money and focusing it towards the fronts. * Front mid range size. 6.5 seems to be the favorite but can we go bigger? Perhaps 8"? Anybody do that? My expectations are easy. Clarity that won't break the bank. Ho…

OK... I was offered a pair of RD Sonance V.2 12"s and a Memphis MC2000-D for my 4Kw.... I do not know about anything RD except for the H.W. which i loved but... are they geared more toward SPL or LOUD SOUND QUALITY? I kepe hearing they "GET LOUD YET STILL SOUND GREAT" but you know how that is. RD guy said: "The Sonance is a great woofer all around. The first priority was SQ when designed. The woofer actually surprised us with the output once we were finished. We have a few SQ competitors using the Sonance this year and we also have a few SPL guys running them as well. One of the few woofers that can sound great for daily and in a SQ setup but also have the ability to…

I'm considering purchasing a 12" Icon. I'm currently running two 12" Infinity subs with a Kenwood amp (KAC-9105d 900w rms x 2ohms) and need to know if it has enough power to make this Icon sound decent? I want to upgrade amplifiers but don't have the money for everything right now. I would run this single Icon in a sealed enclosure (I'm not a big fan of "boomy" ported enclosures) and would like for it to hit hard on bass drums, accurately reproduce bass guitar, and respond well to industrial and electronic dance music *I know, I'm asking for the moon* the occasional drum and bass ect. . . all being able to be heard going down the freeway with all the windows open. So,…

What's going on guys. I've been putting together some ideas and funds for my next project. The car is a 99' Honda Civic Ex coupe. So far I've picked up a Kicker kx2500.1 for my subs. My next question may come off as a FAQ, but this is a more specific question towards my application. Right now it's a toss up for me between 2 12" Fi Q's or a single 15" BTL. Either system will be sealed off from the trunk in around 4 cu. ft tops. I'll play a variety of music on this system, mostly rap, but it will be shown off FREQUENTLY... I'm just looking to get as loud/low to the ear as possible on a daily basis. I am open to other ideas as well, I'm just favoring these 2 in particular du…

This Pioneer Premier TS-W5102SPL, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...-W5102SPL?tab=B anyone ever seen these in action or know their potential personally? It's specs are questionable which makes me wonder how loud they can get. I know they were used in the comp vehicle which did over 180db but that means nothing to me. They could have done that with any other high powered sub i'm sure. Anyways, it says rated at 2,500wrms\6000w peak, only required to be in a 2.0 cuft ported enclosure but only 11.5mm xmax... I'm looking for loud daily but do not know if this is in the right category for my needs.

  11. I only have a 4" hole in my door and i need to find a set of mids that will clear. Does anyone know how big the diameter of the magnet+ terminal is? My rainbow mid was exactly 4" and it barely cleared and my AA poly mids didnt clear at all. Heard good things about them and want to give them a try.

I'm new here, and after describing what i was looking for(a cheap priced 18 that could perform) at another forum, i was told about the mj-18. I've been looking and reading for a few hours now and this sub looks like it fits the bill. Slighty more $ per sub than originally planned, but it seems that the extra quality and service more than makes up for it. Here's the plan. I'd like to do 4 mj-18's in my 1st gen 4dr. s10 blazer. I'm loosing the rear seat so i have everything from behind the front seats to play with for space. The subs will see 2000-2300 watts together. I would like to port the box no lower than 30, but no higher than 35. I see that 4.5 is the rec size per su…

I'm at the point that I'm interested in replacing my Ascendant Audio 10" Assassin with either another 10" with something a little more powerful. I'm interested in the SPL subs that Loyd tested. Does anybody know when they will be for sale? If its going to be a long time, lets talk about the loudness difference between my 10" Assassin, and maybe a 12" MAW powered off 300watts. I've also been looking at tc's t1000 line, I like the looks of them, mechanically. I really would like something in either a 10 or 12 that moves alot of air with 300watts.

Hey guys and gals. New to the forum. I have posted on a few others and not gotten much advice. I tried the search feature on this topic but need more help due to the Oz sub I will be asking about not being in any threads. I am putting together a new system for a 06 wrx sti. I want good sq but also the ability to get loud. Not anything crazy but loud. I will ask about the woofers as this is the woofer forum. I planned to do a single 15. It is between the tc2000 and Oz audio matrix elite and rlp 15. First off what are your opinions on these three woofers? I cannot find much on the Oz on the forums. The specs are very similar on the three. The rlp has the best price to feat…

So I have been looking for a midbass driver for a long time now to add to my Diamond Hex comps. I would still like to get my hands on some SI 8" drivers (hopefully they haven't been abandoned). But for now I am getting in on the RE group buy and gonna try the XXX6.5". But it leads me to have to find good xover for them. ANyone got a suggestion? Anyone at SI wanna build one for me by chance???

like the topic says i need some recommendations for a new box for my maw15. right now i have it sealed at 2.2cuft. after displacements, and while it sounds nice, just dissapointed with the output. was hoping to like it sealed as i like the flatter response of sealed boxes little more than ported, but after awhile of listening to it i'm starting to find myself turning off the radio cause i'm a little pissed:( hu settings are fine, amps fine but it's the response i'm getting that's letting me down. problem i'm getting into is around 90% of songs on any given cd (rap/hip-hop) i put in has like no response at all, then others will just slam. don't get it, same cd's will play …

I have four 12s (infinity dvc) IB into my seat, they work great and have enough output for me but weigh a ton. So I'm thinking of lighter subs that are more efficient as well. So I'm reading up on it and that kind of sub tends to make less sub bass but more mid bass....a 12 might split at 40Hz where the common HD sub makes more under that and efficient sub more over that (more db); so they have more rolloff at lowest frequency. I like 30Hz, not sure if I would lose much since the difference is not very great. But now I am thinking maybe two efficient 15s would work better; with a lower Fs they should get deeper than efficient 12s right? Maybe as deep as the 12 infinitys? …

  21. So I get tired of the "why?" and "that's just a stupid waste" so i just go and do my own thing. But here, tell me what YOU would do to get MY results. (not yours). I want super mad lows. 18Hz-29Hz. I do NOT care about 30Hz-60Hz for the sake of this argument. From 29Hz on DOWN. I have no HO alt (yet). I have 4 guage wiring all the way around. I have a BXi2608D that I do NOT have to use all of. I can easily turn the gains down so I get a super clean super easy 600 watts RMS if I want, but I have up to 2600 if I NEED it. I have 38" tall in front available, 32" tall in back, 42" wide to use up all of my hatch for an enclosure, wall preffered. I spent $240 shipped. IF I had an…

So im looking to get a new system and i have been doing some research on FI car audio. Recently though i have seen a lot of people talking about the sundown sa 8s and ive watched some videos and i really like them. so my question is, what would be better for a daily driver who wants to get loud. 2 15" fi btl n2s on around 3000 watts or so or 4 sundown sa 8s on around 2000-2500 watts.

Hi, I'm about to sell my Xcon 15" locally. I know I will buy some more Xcons in the future, but for now I think I'm going to get the new Fi BTL. Here is my problem : I have a ported box with (2) 4" psp ports, 17" long each. Net volume (with one xcon) is about 3.1 - 3.2 ft3. So tuning is around 32-33 Hz. What would you do ? Get a 15" Btl or a 12" ? The box is on the small side for a 15" and maybe too big for a 12". I can make a smaller box in the future, but I need to use this one for a moment. Oh, I forgot to say that my car is a hatchback toyota Auris 4 doors, with a small cargo area. My amplifier is a Sundown saz 1500, and my electrical is good for the power I use. I w…

Its only about $60 more to go with both 18's over the 15's but i would be using the same rms going to them. what size sub would sound better/louder being they both are getting the same amount of power/rms?
