  1. WOOOOOTTTT!!!!! My fiberglass door pods (original thread http://www.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=94516) are near finished...made a lot of progress this weekend... They turned out pretty good, they're NOT perfect, these are my first...and they're going into my "piece of chit" truck that I'm driving till it dies...and getting a new one With that being said...here they are! (I used truck bedliner to coat them, they are awaiting a finish coat tomorrow after initial 2 layers cure...) (All clickable thumbnails) WOW...look..it's "JL's" new door pods... (Still awaiting finish coat) Junk layin around And no...that's not my writing...came with it on there Later... NG

Ok. I'm starting back into audio but thought I'd start off with a decent boom/bang. Looking mostly for SQ with a little SPL. I already own a "brand spanking new" Zed Audio Kronos, pre-ordered a Stereo Integrity BM Mk V (I'm kind of limited in space). I was thinking of adding a SSA IC 150.4 and a set of 6.5 Evil Mids(I guess 8 ohm versions) and Evil 1 Tweeters. I am looking to do the following setup (all in a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe): IC150.4 - Ch1 and 2 to Evil 1 Tweeters (maybe mounted to A-pillars or factory door location) IC150.4 - Ch3 and 4 bridged to BM Mk V (debating on how I want to set this up; either wheel well or leaned against the front of tru…

I currently have 2 kicker cvx 12" subs in a crappy prefab box and I'm looking to get louder and lower (move a lot more air). I cannot decide between getting a custom box for my subs tuned to the low 30s, or getting 2 type r 15's, or one nightshade 15. which would give me the best results? the type r subs would have to be in a prefab box

I'm currently tinkering with ideas for my front stage. I'm looking for a particular sound and I'm not sure how to describe it but here it goes.... I have a set of Grado Sr80i Headphones (which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves music) and they have lots of....shimmer? on the high end. I want that sound for my car. I want the higher midrange to be pronounced, I want to hear the details (such as the rasp in men's voices) and I want it to be pretty loud. I have a cheap bookshelf setup in my room and it has Piezo horns in it that have the sound (as far as highs) that I'm looking for. The best I can describe it is airy, or wispy? A very exciting sound. So with that said, I…

  8. I like being able to comfortably fit two golf bags & pull carts in my trunk. A free air install in the rear deck would allow me to retain the vast majority of my cavernous trunk. Having only played with the idea in a large enough wall enclosure that it may as well have been free-air, I'd like to hear experiences. It wouldn't be a huge loss to tuck a 1.5' box in the trunk, so if infinite baffle is more trouble then it's worth, please say so. TIA Nick woofer specs: FS: 47hz Qts 0.593 Qes 0.635 Qms 8.935 Vas 3.34L Wrms 500 The suspension & motor control are strong. I know what BassBoxPro says, I also know its incredibly outdated, thank you though.

So, lately Ive been asking a lot of questions about subs that I've been interested in. I've narrowed down the subs to just two choices 2 Sundown SA-12s or 2 Fi SSD 12s. After purchasing the subs I plan to build a ported enclosure and purchase an amp. I want loud subs with deep bass. Tell me which subs you would go with and why. Also if you'd have experience with either subs. Also would like to purchase an amp under 300$ that's 1200-2000 watts any suggestions. Thanks.

Looking to getting an 8/10 inch subwoofer. I want the subs to be able to get loud, possibly mistaken for some 12s. But I really want them to be able to hit the spot, great SQ. Looking under 200 a sub. So far I was thinking along the lines of Assasins, DDs, SS Rls, TC10 OEM, smaller TCs, not realy sure yet though. Havent bought an amp for them yet so thats a little bit flexible.

  17. I've built a couple of hundred boxes all the way from 2 6w0s in a Ranger to 3 Shockers in a 200SX wall(12 10"s earlier in the same wall) and 8 12"s in my Eclipse I used to have, as well as the run of the run of the mill multiple 13W7s, JUGGS, 2 12"s and everyday beaters middle of the road subs, as well as helping db drag and MECA guys at any opportunity cause that's how I get down to always give a helping hand. Now that I finally got a job my next future woofers will be beasts and I know simple screws will shear and break. My problem is (and I have TRIED T nuts before with dissapointing results mounting them) I need you guys' help. If anyone can take a few pictures an…

What I have right now.... 2 Sundown E-12s (400rms version) Hooked up to a 1700.1 Hifonics Amplifier at 1 ohm. Inside of a custom box made for the Ford Mustang Convertible, .9 each sub, sealed. Well, isnt that too much power? yes it is! So obviously the gain is way down. My question, Would I benefit from switching the subwoofers to something that can handle more power? The problem: If I do get new subwoofers, the mounting depth can be NO MORE than 6.5 inches.

So I'm going to try to make a return after about a year of family problems, blown marriages, excessive school, and a lack of the addiction.... I first want to say hi. I'm sorry I haven't been around. I've gone through hell and back with some of life's more rough situations. I stopped logging AIM for a good while and as such, lost contact with many of my very close friends from here. I have a new AIM name: fifteenfeetoff. You can get ahold of me here from now on as I have it on now for pretty much the entire day. I won't be able to be a post whore like I once was, but I lost the time for a great hobbie I had...and I'd like to get that back. I'll be looking at some n…

For those of you that have owned both pair OR heard both pair in a similar environment please comment on which you prefer and why? I am in the market for a nice set for components, and I am being torn between several sets. A new set just came up... Seas. I had never heard of them before, and someone told me they are the best sounding speaker for the money. I was just wondering how they hold up against the Focal 165K2P comps since I have listened to them extensivly. Thanks for the information...

Ok so im thinking about cuting holes in my door panel for my 6.5s Apline type R's So i can show the grills instead of leavingthem in the factory spot (08 Pont G6) . i plan on using a hole saw, would there be a better tool for that instead? and if i do that then i think the sound and performance of them will og down without some type of addend or extra install to go with them, especially with that small space between the door panel and the factory location, what could i do to ensure the SQ of them and performance? sound deadening maybe? or what could i put to fill that gap and etc.

was going to buy another 15 and have two 15's in a sealed box off 1500 rms, but been told by some guys from team kicker that my zx1500.1 can run at 1 ohm daily all day. So now i may just switch out my crossfire vr1000d for the zx1500.1. With the difference of 500 rms, should i notice an audible difference. I just can't afford the other 15 right now and i know that one 15 ported vs. two 15's sealed should get me the same output.any help is appreciated

I got a Memphis M3 10 (2008) and its def. blown but it still barely vibrates and makes the faintest bass when I turn it up. What does that mean? I already ordered a recone so I was just wondering if it would be possible to fix? The coil looks fine and both terminals still have the correct resistance. Tinsel looked okay but I didnt really look that good due to it being a bulky 10 so its hard to see anything. Anybody know what it might be and how to fix it?

Simply, can you have too much motor force on a subwoofer driver? If it is application dependent, I am referring to applications where music is being played, and if that isn't specific enough, let's say C&S songs. Decaf, all that stuff. Just curious, thanks!
