Subwoofers / Speakers

Alright lets first start off with I have gone through about 20 different woofers (talked about) and still have not picked one to install yet. I went from 18's to a single 15 back to 18 then to 4 10"s now it seems I am stuck once again. I am putting all this inside of a 2002 VW Passat GL with a 120 amp alt. The trunk space is roughly 40w x 18h x 42d. Now I have enough room to fit a 18" in there but not enough room to allow adequate airflow. Well that's fine so lets downgrade to a 15" or 12" or 10". First I was talking with Shizzz and we decided on 4 10" sd2.5's. Would allow for more cone area than a single 18 and therefor move more air. But here is the problem, I would als…

h im looking to run 4 of these subs maybe 2 unsure yet but im looking to get 2 3000 watt dc amps, will the level 5 18 be good for 3000 watts or is it not enough

I was just wondering what a good price was for these two of these, because i have seen a couple people trying to sell used ones for 250 each plus shipping and then i was offered two lvl3 for 350 shipped i was just wondering if i just got a good offer for the lvl3s or if the guys was overpricing the lvl4s thanks for all inputs

hey guys, i normally dont put aftermarket door speakers in my car bc i have never had anything loud enough to need them lol, but i got an 18" fi q and its pretty loud. my door speakers are in the process of becoming blown lol, so im looking to upgrade...i dont really want to run an amp, would like to just do some speakers, preferably that will fit in the stock location. it will be in a 2003 ford focus zx3. the stock speakers are 6x8 and 3 inches deep. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx guys.

well ive thought and debated and i think im leaning on re doing my subs and amps i have on re sx ten in the back with md1d right now think im gonna go two twelves or one 15 cant decide yet but its in a s10 2002 ext. wanna try and keep it under the window line but ill deal with box after that im looking to get about 1000 watts out of each sub or more so a total of 2000 watts or more if i can, ill match amp after i get subs i think its gonna be a d2 sub probably. this isnt a spl vehicle but i do like my bass to hit hard im gonna have the big three done by the time i get this new system im just looking for some inputs for now. ive thought about going re again i love my sx bu…

At this juncture, I don't have a particular subwoofer in mind. I would just like to inquire whether I can build a ported enclosure larger than recommended to obtain a lower tuning. If so, what level of increase could potentially harm the driver? Thank you.

my friend just bought 2 type r's. i recommended 2.5 cuft per sub but the alpine recommendations are 1.75. that seems very small to me for a 12". they are gonna be runnin off a aq1200d amp at 1 ohms. will they do fine in a 5 cuft box dual chamber tuned to 38hz?

I think I'd like to tune it to 30 hz. I want to make a double kerfed slotted box with all 45 degree angles inside. whats the displacement of a 12'' DC lvl 4? what should the diameter of the port be? This is going to be the first box I've ever built any tips will be greatly appreciated!

Its come the time to glass some kicks and a pillar pods for the truck. so far im leaning toward the 6.5" MB Quart Premium comps for the kicks and 4" Premium comps also. im open for suggestions i want matching sets so top and bottom looks even. tweeter does not have to match woofer though. just as long as both sets look the same Any opinions/ experience/ suggestions would be appreciated

just wondering if I am running 75 watts to a set of components, can I run speaker wire from the amp to the factory wiring or do I need to run wire all the way to the comps, not sure on the exact gauge, but its just whatever honda runs to their speakers, probably 18 ga at best? what size speaker wire do I need to run to them if I run the full length? 14?

Anyone have experience with RE's SR/SRX lineup? Ready to order sub(s), but have come to a fork in the road: Multiple good subs vs one stronger sub of equal build quality. From what I've researched I could probably feed the SRX's 500w (<600w) a piece just fine; though they're 300rms rated. My thoughts: Wanted to stay under/around the $300 mark for the sub(s) and ~1kw of pow-a. Budget-"ish" build. Could have more cone area and better cooling w/ two subs on equal wattage. A single Q 18 seems loud and clear enough on it's own, from what I gather. I have no 150db targets or some ~ish not competing just knocking music. I want to know what is the best set of mids you have ever had. let me know I have doing a SQ setup in my wifes car and am stuck between a few. i want something that gets loud and clear. Only post if you have owned them.

i know the rms is 1000w but how would they do with 600wrms? im want to go with 2 10's off my RE12.1 and seen these look pretty promiseing. also can i get them in dvc4? or would 1 12 do better with all 1200wrms than 2 10's with 600 each?

While at first this will certainly seem to be just another "what sub is better" thread, I am indeed seeking the advice of those familar with the possibility spelled out in the thread title. My goals are: 1). Sound quality for multiple genres. 2). Lowest possible frequency response, whether ported and tuned low or sealed in a large dual chamber enclosure. 3). Adequate SPL, albeit valued below sound quality. 4). Would a single 1000 watt subwoofer circumvent and/or surpass the supposed goals of dual 500 watt subwoofers, or would the contrary do so? ok so im starting to think that i should move up into class street b, just because there is more competition aorund here for that and im sick of not competing against anyone (that is except like a single 12" type r), so right now i have 1 12" fi audio bl in the trunk of a cavalier, tuned to 34 hz on 1800 wrms. what i want to do is be very competitive in street b for db drag. however i really want it to be a ground pounder and hit those lows, so i was thinking a 28-30 tune for daily and a 40-42 hz tune for comps. but what i really want to know is which ten inch subs should i go with? the ones that pop into my head are fi bl, fi q, dc sumthing, or audio que hdc3. i dont…

How would you best characterize the IXL series of subs? Made to be accurate? Made to get loud? Somewhere in the middle? Reason that I'm asking is I'm looking for a sub for a small sealed box to integrate with a system built with musical accuracy in mind.

Hey all, a few questions before I buy one off Dave (troublestarter). 1. How will this sub sound in 3cuft tuned to 33hz ? 2. Will it sound good off 800wrms class a/b ? Is that enough power ? 3. Do they do them in D2 flavour ? Im looking for something that will do around 135db on a TL or better, but also great sq for my ambient electronica when I turn the subwoofer level down to around 3 on the P77MP. So basically a jack of all trades. I wanted a level 4 however I dont have enough power for one, and dont want to clip it or change to dirty class D power! Thanks

looking for a set of components still someone help me i have an 2002 s-10 i have a pioneer head unit re sx ten inch sub and an usamps md1d amp. ill probably be using a kac-723 kenwood amp for the components. not sure how far i would take it modification wise ill probably use mid bass in the regular spot and then tweeter in the a pillar or very top of door panal budget for the components are about 250 im a beginner but my dad is alot better than me ill probably be using mdf and fiberglass just depends on what works best i listen to everything rap rock country dont matter only had the coasixals havent heard many components only at car shows a few years ago no real goals…
