im gonna make a box for the girlfriends 02 bug for the RE SRX 10 and which would be the best. sub back port up, sub back port side, or sub back port back? or does it not matter really. not goin for a major setup, just a little smooth bump. thinking 1.5 cubes 35hz

hey everybody, I've been debating over some time what my next set-up should be. Right now I have 6 JBL GT5-10s in the trunkspace of my Golf. I'm looking for something louder; I'm thinking of 2 15s...I have around 7-8cu-ft to use. I want something that will shake the ground, not buzz the ears. So I'm looking to tune them around 28hz. I've been looking at the Fi BTL's but I have never received any e-mails back from anyone there for over 5 months... any body have any ideas as to what sub I should look into? ill do the best i can to explain. my buddy just got some memphis subs the mclass 12s he has about 400 watts going to each the day after he got them one started smoking and then quit it still works but makes a clicking noise i took it out and took a look at it but didnt see anything wrong does anyone know what this could be?

OK, I was looking at the RE XXX's (newer version), and the Fi BL's. I listen to mostly metal but I do like everything else too. They're going into a Tahoe, so size isn't an issue. I'd like to do 2 12's. I'm looking to get as loud as possible but not sound like total azzz. Powering them would be 2 saz-1500d's or 2 saz-2000d's depending on sub selection. I'm not stuck to those two brands, any input in any direction would be great. Price also isn't much of an issue. Willing to spend as much as $2000 for the subs.

What are the best speakers for under $300? JVC and JL are my top choices so far. Any suggestions, comments, or insights would be greatly appreciated

How big of a difference in SPL and SQ do you think there would be between a 15" and a 12" Fi Q. Would be in a ported box built to recommended dimensions. Oh, and powered by a Kicker zx1500.1 at 4 ohms for around 850 RMS.

i was thinking about getting a 18inch btl, i do not plan on entering competitions i just simply would like to have a system that hits hard (really hard), sounds good, and lasts a long time. i have a 4000 watt hifonic brutus amp, if this is the right sub for me what options should i choose, or is there a better sub, if so which one?

I got one coming and have a rf 300.1 im going to wire it parallel for a 2 ohm load, so I can have around 300 watts available, but the subs only rated at 175rms, the box is about 2.4 cubes tuned to 28. 20V AC should be about 200 watts, where should I set it at, not sure if RE subs are tough and can handle a little extra or what? Id be open to building a smaller box or similar sized tuned different if it will help in output. Im guessing tuned higher would be louder overall, but in winisd, the 1.5 @ 35Hz box they recommend doesnt look better than the box I built, at least not at anything under 45Hz, of course from there on up the scale it looks like the smaller box has the …

At the moment i have a JBL GTO 1514. But thats not good enough (for me) so i was thinking of getting 2x12 inch woofers. They have many deals and brand names i haven't ever heard. Like: BassX BW-500X Boschmann V1240XYB (my friend has one, sounds pretty good) Mystery MJS 12F Ground Zero GZTW 30T (i have heard something about that) Fusion EN-SW12ES Anyone can tell something about these or has any suggestions ?

If I can only run one monster sub what would be the one sub everyone would use?

I fried the tinsels on my 2005 RE XXX 12D2. I don't know where to get a re-cone or what to do with it. I was going to get 2 BTL 15's and put them in a trunk on 5000W or whatever I could afford, I don't want to buy over 1 extra battery. Can you re-cone a 12 to an 18? Would an 18 on 1500-2000 W ported (through the seat) be plenty? It would save hella on everything, I bought it for $350 and used it for a year in a 1.7 cf3 box @ 37hz, it didn't drop but it had rich and neutral sound. I don't like the tinsels being exposed, they should have sewn them into the voice coil. Can they handle 2000W? 2500? 3000? My plan was to have atleast 3000W, and more cone area than 2 12's.

well i have 2 kenwwod 1800 watt amps really 900 watt a piece if i wanted to just run one monster what would be my best option lev.5 or 4xl and i will be getting bigger amps soon

if i were to get 2 audioque 2200d amps and 2 audioque HDC3 12" subs(an amp per a sub) wired down to 1 ohms could the copper series handle it or would i have to buy the aluminum? this is for daily use! also on the audioque website it says 1000 watts rms 2000 watts peak for those subs. but also on there it says you can hook 1 2200d with one HDC3 sub. the amp puts out 2200 at 1 ohms so how would this not damage or blow the sub?

Looking for an SQ sub that gets pretty loud and still clear. I have a Kicker zx1500.1, rated at 1687 RMS at 2 ohms, so that's around 840 RMS at 4. I don't care if it's a a 12 or 15 as long as it fits in my trunk. I like the IDMax but it's too expensive. I really don't want to spend more than 300. I also like the Fi Q 15" but I'm afraid 1687 is too much and 840 is not enough. Any suggestions?

Is there much of a difference between the mach 5 15" ixl vs the ssa icon 15". I know the mach 5 seems to have a good sound quality and im not really to sure about the ssa icon. If anyone could give me a little more info about them like which one would get louder with a 1000 watt sundown audio amp. Thanks.

So i think the Icon may have run its course. Driving home a few weeks ago the sub just started making a weird noise. Every time the bass hits the sub kind of cuts out and makes a pretty harsh noise. So I finally had time to attempt to diagnose the problem. Took the sub out and inspected it and everything looked good though. No tinsels snapped, didnt appear to be a coil problem, and the sub moved in and out just fine(no coil rub). The sub looked practically brand new. Reinstalled the wiring and turned it back on and the problem still persists. Unfortunately, I didnt have a DMM to check the impedance on the coils so that will be next on the list. hi guys, would just like to get inputs and possible if i could, get the best for my application. - sub will be in the trunk of a car. - fired towards the cabin through the center arm rest - max box would be 2 cubes, 1.5 cubes or smaller preferred - final impedance of 4 ohms - good for 1k watts of power in 4 ohms - SQ install but has a capability to massage me if i want to crank it up abit - can be tuned to a flat bass sound as much as possible thanks

Just wondering what you guys think of the Hertz HSK 165.4 ( this is the 165.3 version though). I found a place here that I could get these for 350$. Are they worth it for a daily driver street beater / comp car? I know they are more for sq than spl (i am trying to pair them with a single 18" Fi BTL). I like to listen to more than just rap and bass cds so i think these should do well with the BTL (which is a monster). I have also noticed that the hertz website says these are only two way speakers but the magazine I have says the HSK 165.4's are 3 way...don't know, kind of confused.
