I have been scouring the net for a couple days, searching every form of the phrase "Subwoofer design software" and have found nothing but enclosure design programs and port length/size calculators. Anyone know of anything that would help me? Delving into the other side, designing and building my own subwoofer. I don't have the capability to press cones or mold baskets, nothing huge yet. But I'd like to choose my own magnets and construct a motor structure and my own voice coils. I would prefer a graphics-based type of program. And no point in telling me I can't pull this off.. maybe true but I'm the type that will try it anyway and eff with things until I'm defeated or I …

So I run 2 Pioneer TS-W3002SPL's and now one sub has a horrible mechanical noise at low Hz Cycles and overall chopped and screwed music. I know i fucked it up but is there any specific reason why my sub is broken. They are 1000 RMS subs and I was running them at 300 RMS off a Sundown SAE-1200d at 2 Ohms so the only reason could be massive clipping. One of the subs is still fine though and I don't want to ruin that one as well. What happened and is there any way to fix what I did?

been out of the loop for about 3-4 years now and dont know whos making what anymore. not looking for anything crazy just something to fill in the low end for the hour long drive everyday. small box, low power, >$100 music- little of a lot. country and rock mostly. a little top 40, hip hop, talk radio.... going in a civic trunk. got an alpine headunit 9855 i think, the one with the "glide" bar at the bottom.? jl 6.5" in the doors with an alpine 2 channel amp. not to brand loyal, but i dont want junk. again nothing fancy just wanna fill out the music. i think a single 10" or 8" will work. so question is whats a "good deal" now a days? - rob

Or have i herd wrong is one 18btl the way to go, i just want to bump really hard im not looking to enter into competitions and such just for my everyday driving, ha and maybe to show off a little. any and all help is appreciated.

hey everybody, I've been debating over some time what my next set-up should be. Right now I have 6 JBL GT5-10s in the trunkspace of my Golf. I'm looking for something louder; I'm thinking of 2 15s...I have around 7-8cu-ft to use. I want something that will shake the ground, not buzz the ears. So I'm looking to tune them around 28hz. I've been looking at the Fi BTL's but I have never received any e-mails back from anyone there for over 5 months... any body have any ideas as to what sub I should look into? Some that have crossed my mind are: :: Orion HCCA :: AudioPulse LMS-Ultra :: RE Audio XXX :: DD 9500 series anyone have any other suggestions? Also, I'm in Canada, so shi…

I got one coming and have a rf 300.1 im going to wire it parallel for a 2 ohm load, so I can have around 300 watts available, but the subs only rated at 175rms, the box is about 2.4 cubes tuned to 28. 20V AC should be about 200 watts, where should I set it at, not sure if RE subs are tough and can handle a little extra or what? Id be open to building a smaller box or similar sized tuned different if it will help in output. Im guessing tuned higher would be louder overall, but in winisd, the 1.5 @ 35Hz box they recommend doesnt look better than the box I built, at least not at anything under 45Hz, of course from there on up the scale it looks like the smaller box has the …

How big of a difference in SPL and SQ do you think there would be between a 15" and a 12" Fi Q. Would be in a ported box built to recommended dimensions. Oh, and powered by a Kicker zx1500.1 at 4 ohms for around 850 RMS.

So i think the Icon may have run its course. Driving home a few weeks ago the sub just started making a weird noise. Every time the bass hits the sub kind of cuts out and makes a pretty harsh noise. So I finally had time to attempt to diagnose the problem. Took the sub out and inspected it and everything looked good though. No tinsels snapped, didnt appear to be a coil problem, and the sub moved in and out just fine(no coil rub). The sub looked practically brand new. Reinstalled the wiring and turned it back on and the problem still persists. Unfortunately, I didnt have a DMM to check the impedance on the coils so that will be next on the list. Anyone ever heard of a …

So, this is my current setup. . . http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v448/pheaturez/truck/?action=view¤t=100_02991.jpg I have the opportunity to sell my sub/box for 400.00. My question is simply this. Is going from an RE SX to an MJ18 a downgrade?????? I have no complaints with the SX. Honestly, the sub sounds beautiful and it gets loud. Is built really well and handles every bit of power I have going to it (RE 12.1) When comparing the subs, visibly it seems as if its a backwards step. I have nothing against stamped baskets and plain cosmetics because I am a function over looks kind of guy. . . All i want is for it to perform. But when you see them side by si…

Hi, just wanted to know if the IXL-10 2.2 would live well with a US acoustics USB2150 wired at 4ohms Here are the specs for the amp: 2 x 150 @ 4ohms at 12.9 volts 2 x 225 @ 2ohms at 12.9 volts 1 x 450 @ 4ohms bridged at 12.9 volts THD less than 0.01% Frequency Response: 10Hz-30kHZ, -0.5 dB Input Sensitivity: 100 mV - 8.0 Volt Crossover range Low Pass: 40 - 460 Hz High Pass: 65 - 4.5 KHz S/N Ratio: 103 dB Channel Separation: 90 dB Damping Factor at 20 Hz: 95 Reverse Polarity, Thermal, Short Circuit, and DC protection. It would be installed in the driver's side hole inside the trunk in a stealth-like box. The reason i'm loo…

I'm also wondering who makes the best 4" hands down? i installed an alpine head unit and i initially wanted to keep it consistent by hooking up alpine speakers, but if i could get a better sound out of it with another speaker manufacturer, then i would be pleased. I only have 2 mounts for 4" speakers and am considering adding a sub in back but would rather keep it simple. any advice? here are links to the only 4"speakers they carry http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SPS-400〈=en&tab=Fhttp://www.kicker.com/ks_series

Looking for an SQ sub that gets pretty loud and still clear. I have a Kicker zx1500.1, rated at 1687 RMS at 2 ohms, so that's around 840 RMS at 4. I don't care if it's a a 12 or 15 as long as it fits in my trunk. I like the IDMax but it's too expensive. I really don't want to spend more than 300. I also like the Fi Q 15" but I'm afraid 1687 is too much and 840 is not enough. Any suggestions?
