Interesting reading over on the "Ok,ok its time to leak info" thread.I have an original Mag that has the 'CLAW' basket and was wondering if the new parts for the new Mag can be used with the 'CLAW' basket?

One of my Vifa's quit playing last night. Not blown, but was cutting in/out. Wiring is fine. I had this problem with one right out of the box. If you wiggle the speaker lead it'll come back on. I'm actually using this as an excuse to try a new set of tweets I run 2 AA poly mids per door and I'm very happy with them and the Vifa's seemed to compliment them well. I'm no audio snob obviously and not looking for THE best there is. I'd just like to try something a little brighter as I found the Vifa's to be rather laid back, which was fine for most music, but on most rock, the cymbals were very quiet/muted. I don't want "in your face" tweets either, just a step or 2 above w…

would the Zed Minilith be a good match for the new Mag? I know the Mag is rated at 900RMS and the Minilith is rated at 600RMS. I know the Mag can take less and the Minilith does more but would this be a good match for SQ and the occassional SPL comp?

Well as Sean knows, I've been beating myself up over what speakers to replace my Blose in my 06 Silverado. Some of these questions are truck specific that I know Sean will be able to answer and the rest I'm sure theres a handful of you that can chime in. I finally am deciding on the Pioneer 720prs's but have very little knowledge in what to do for the install. -The bose are 6.5's and the 720's are 6.75's so I'm not sure what I'll need to do exactly to fit the 720's - I have a JL 300/4 and a Avic D3 for the speakers to pair up with, but what exactly will I need to do? Is it as simple as: -take out old speakers, screw in new (or will I need to make a baffle out of MDF …

I've been reading that if i want loud for music, i need to go with as much cone area and power as i can. My limited power available is only 4,400w. To keep costs down, i've been looking at some subs at sonicelectronix and i see 2 that seem pretty interesting to me. They are all 12s. Clif Designs CDNUC12 Clif Designs Absolute VI 2000.4 Absolute That Absolute is the D6 version because they have no current info on the D4. I was also lookin at AQs SD2.5s but these subs are cheaper. The reason why i posted this thread is because i'm being told that running 4 12s for daily driving, because of more cone area and more heat dissipation, is gonna be a better, louder choice that run…

Hey guys, first post. I just picked up a 2012 gmc. It needs a system. I want it to out do my four door integra (alpine type s components on Kicker 250.2, DD 1512 in pre fab ported box on 750 watts rms.) I'm thinking two SA 8 v.2, RE XXX6.5 components. I already have the head unit, Sony XAV-63. What do you guys think?

Just thought I would post a random thread about the shipment of SPL-12's that arrived on Friday. I will be receiving delivery tomorrow and updating the website in the coming days. Those who have pre-ordered, please shoot me an Email - [email protected] Also in the bunch are the IXL-15's. I'll be posting info on those in the coming days as well. Best, Mark

Okay the MTX tweeters had one die on me last week. So I finally decided it was time to replace them. I was going to use cheap-o wal*mart 3/4" tweets but after seeing they are 10 watts RMS, i knew they would be worthless. I decided to check out some Power Akustics. After picking them up I noticed no swivel to the tweeters themselves. Okay no problem, I can adjust by how I mounted them. I started off with Hed P.E. "Amerikan Beauty". There is a good vocal range here in the females voice, and the lead singer's vopice as well. The first thing I nopticed is on the MTX x/o's they sounded VERY shrill. I dropped the EQ's tweeters level and tweet boost down. The tweet boost went fr…

  12. Hey I have 2 old style first generation audiobahn immortal 15s im looking to rebuild. Does anyone know of any specs that could help? Such as voice coil and spider size, who originally designed motor or what soft parts are compatible etc. I was told that a sundown nightshade drop-in would work but i would like advice and honest opinion from a knowledgeable subwoofer builder. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks

So, a friend of mine who I havent seen in some time recently told me that he is in an urgent need of cash so he is selling all his car stuff. I didnt see anything interesting. Then he told me about his subs. He has 2 12inch MMATS Dreadnauts in a custom made, ported box. Each sub retails for $500 (woofersetc.com) + the enclosure which he says cost him an extra $350. He told me (a week ago) he would give them to me for $600, I said no. Then recently, we talked about again. He ended up lowering the price down to $300. Now, when we reached that price I said to myself "let me ask in the forums to see if its a good idea". To me, Im guessing it would be an upgrade no matter what…

I have a kicker L7 in a sealed box (its dumb I already know) and a kicker zx750 I am looking to buy a bigger box ported box (3 cubic feet or so) but have been warned about the lack of quality in some boxes. Which one of these would be a better choice? Option 1 or Option 2 Or are these not the best choices for an enclosure at all?

A while back I picked up 4 MJ18s for use in my home system and I was recently finally able to get them on a Klippel analyzer to see how they perform at small and large signals. I'm posting the information here for anyone else who cares. First off, the unit to unit variation was small. For the linear parameters I'll list the average and for the nonlinear curves I'll show one of them; the rest are similar. The linear parameters are determined in three circumstances: the driver at very small signal, the driver at large signal but cold, and the driver at large signal and warm (after playing some time). Which of these to use really depends on the application; in my case I u…

So my 2 mags are finally installed, but they don't sound right at all. And it's bc I'm an idiot. :thud: I think the gains are too low, but I need to know what the gain knob is on a tantrum 1200.1. Is it the sensitivity knob? And does the gain go higher as you turn it from .2 to 4. It is on .2 now, and it sounds terrible, like everything is just rumbling together. The kick drums don't sound right at all. I don't hear a distinct punch for each kick. I know it has something to do with the amp settings, bc these are magnums we are talking about. Also, I was driving around last night, and my lights didn't dim or blink at all, so that may be indication that the gains …

Theres going to be a meet on october 21st and tommyk is bringing his TL. So ill have a chance to meter the MAW-15. I dont remember reading any scores from it, so im curious to see what it will do. Granted, its in a 3 cu. ft. box tuned to 28hz on about 800 watts, in a large car. So im not expecting anything great, but it does the job just fine for me. I know 2 MJ-18's got metered, but has anyone had the 15's metered on a daily setup?

  25. Do birch wood speaker spacers need to be waterproofed? i went to local installer and they said they would use MDF and not waterproof them, just paint them with regular paint. but i said i would need them waterproofed so they dont soak up water so they went ahead and used birch wood speaker spacer instead. these fine, if not waterproofed or treated? and i heard these woods have harmful chemicals in them? or is that only when cutting them? and should be fine if installed in car, but not being cut?
