Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. Say we have a sub like a kicker cvr , kickers prefab package they sell is with the subs at a bare minimum on air space 1.75 cubes and tuned around 40 to 42hz . Say we take the subs put into a larger box with 2.25 cubes still with same tuning would you gain anything?

Whats up peeps? I own 2 Massive DMX series 15s & i need help bad!! They're not the stage 2 subs and i cant find any info on them anywhere. I do know that they are dual 2 ohm, they have an inverted black dust cap, rubber surround, and they weigh a ton. I was wanting to put these in my 96 suburban. I need to know what the power handling is and vented box specs. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

setup will be going in a 97 explorer ran off of a single american bass 500.1 @ 1 ohm...1250 watts per woofer. Objective....loud as chit, uncomfortable, cant breath, cant see, daily driving setup to demo at shows. Option A Sub up port back 10.62 cubes after all displacements 3 6" aeros @ 20 inches long each 30 hz tuning Option B Sub up port back 10.35 cubes after all displacements 4 6" aeros @ 20 inches long each 35 hz tuning I think option A will work very well but 30 hz tuning might miss a lot of songs apart from bass mekanik and the odd really low rap song. Any thoughts? thanks

Hi, all... I'm currently running a TC-3K Dual 2Ohm on a Sundown 1500D and looking to make a change. I like the single 15" setup so I'm looking at the Havoc 15". The enclosure would be sealed, net 2.5 cubes, 1.5" mounting baffle for the sub. Looking for LSQ setup. Any of you have experience with both of the subs or how the Havoc would compare. The TC-3K hits incredibly hard down low but it's just not as "tight" as I would like and doesn't have much of a top end in my opinion. Also I'm open to other subs as well. Budget less than $400. Thanks...

Well, it was so nice out today, I decided I'd rip all my carpet out and get it ready for when my eDead arrives. Also did some work on the baffle. Here's some pics so you guys can get an idea. Here's 2 shots of the 15 mounted and hanging from the baffle. And here's one peering down through the 6x9 hole. Still waiting for it to get a little warmer so I can glass the baffle and finish it up. I'm also thinking about painting the top plate of the MAG a translucent green? What ya think?

  10. this is a quote from some guy talking shit on my box is it even true what he says i think it sounds good "Pre-fab means Prefabricated. It means that the box was Pre (already) Fabrication (made) before installation. Even tho you have the measurements for the inside of the trunk. Doesnt make the box ANY better. The box you have I GUARANTEE you sounds like crap, just because of the fact that there are not seperate chambers for the subs. This means that the back flow (the air you feel, when the subs hit. IF you have a vented box); The back flow from the subs facing the back of the trunk are reverberating the subs on top of the box. This means you have double re-verb, which s…

  11. Im building my sub box but I dont know how thick to make the enclosure. Sub is 18" Atomic APX. Will be 6cubes net @32hz. How thick should the box be. I was thinking 1.50 all around and a 2.25 baffle. But I can go 3" all around if need be. Although it will be awhile before I run the reccommended 5000rms in the meantime Ill be running about 3000rms. I was told by another guy his AP(one step lower than the APX)12 Was still flexing his box with the 1.50. I will not be glassing the inside of the box so should I go 3 all around?

I'm getting close to ordering the 15" DCON and will be building my first enclose with my buddies tools and expertise, but I've been reading and researching just enough to be dangerous. I've been on carstereo.com, bcae1.com, diyma.com, and a few others. While the smaller drivers t/s parameters do lean in favor of ported enclosures (along with much antecdotal evidence) the 15" appears to be more suited to the sealed enclosure. Example, the Fs of the 15" is 33.5hz and the 10" is 29.4hz. I haven't researched every subwoofer line, but this seems to buck the trend, big time, unless it's an error on the website. My biggest fear in constructing the box is that I won't have any…

  14. I have a new sub in a 3.5 ft3 box at 32 hz (Fishercustom designed) The amp is a Sundown saz 1000. My question is : do I have to play some special songs with the sub? What volume ? Low, high? Can I listen to anything without worrying, and the sub will be good in a few days ? After 2 hours it is still so hard!!! And it does play really low.

Are amplifiers really needed for these speakers? I have coaxial speakers that replaced my factory ones. My factory ones were 25RMS and my new ones are 60RMS in the front, and 65RMS in the back. They crank up really loud and they are in the factory locations with the factory wiring. I think they sound amazing, but I always hear about amplifiers for these mids & highs. Are they needed?

Hey, my friend was given a sub that nobody has been able to identify. It's a 15" w/ a standard 4 spoke aluminum basket, triple stacked mags and i believe d2 voice coil config. on the front it is very standard looking with a normal convex dustcap that has a bunch of weird graphics in white and the logo of a company that i know that i have seen before. It looks like a diamond shpe thats half black and half white, with a smaller diamond inside of it that is the same but the color is opposite on each side. gonna try and get some pics up tomorrow. this thing is beefy and we need to come up with a better box for it

I hope I can get some help here. I hooked up my SI 302 components tonight. They are in their temporary location until I figure out the best spot for the best sound. They are currently located where the stock speaks would go on my door of my 1999 Olds Alero. There are no door panels on currently. The mids are mounted pretty well onto a double MDF baffle that is 1.5" thick. The doors are as sealed as I could possibly get. They have a layer of liquid sound deadening on the inside of the door cavity and the skin of the door. Over this is a layer of mat type deadening. They are being run off of the bridged front and rear channels of a Memphis Belle. Now my dilemma. …

I would like to find a good selection of tweeters to pair with my MCintosh 630's https://www.ebay.com/itm/MSS630-McIntosh-COMPONENT-SPEAKERS-TWEETERS-MIDS-X-OVERS-GREAT-CLEAR-SOUND-NEW-/130617525735 and Audison bit1. I am also looking for a 100X4 amp that sounds clean. This has to fit in my 1990 Lotus esprit. The plan is and is going along. To finsh building my custom doors that house tweeters near the handles and midbass by the knees. The midbass will have boxes of around 4L-6L of capacity and be ported. Then when the speakers are built I plan on adding in a 4x100 amp for the front connected to the bit1 and having that connected to a CD or better quality audio so…

Well, I posted the Uber for sale on CA.com and SD figuring it would get snatched up quick. I have a TON of interest, but the caliber of the interested parties is rather well, eh. I see now why Josh sold them the way he did. So, now I am stuck with a dilemma. I don't really want to use this in-car because of the worry of theft. Once gone, it cannot be replaced, but I really do NOT want to sell this to some idiot either. That will just ruin it.Actually, I really don't want to sell it at all. If the car was able to be garaged, there would be no problems. So, people of TeamSSAudio, I challenge you to help me decide what to do!! :4123357f3da0f6e125a54:

Do xcons or SA-10s do good sealed?? I have a ported box at the moment but thought about going sealed possibly on my next setup and spend time making a simple but very good looking box. I have a ported 18" box I could use for a 18 xcon but it was my first built box and isn't all that clean looking. I though about either sealing 1 18xcon or 3-4 SA 10s but I didn't know if they are going to do very well sealed up?? Will I lose a lot of output by going sealed vs porting them?? All experience with these drivers sealed is very appreciated!!!
