It appears as though the surrounds on my Cadences have developed a couple tears so I guess it's time to replace them. I think you guys have a pretty good idea of my music tastes, but I'm looking for great midbass for double kickdrums and a strong midrange for guitars. These will be run IB in my heavily deadened doors. 2 channels from my Sundown 100.4 will power them with the Vifa XT19s taking care of the top end. The 8443 will handle cross-over and EQ duties. The Cadences are 6.5"s with a very large magnet structure so I'm fairly certain I can fit a 7", maybe even an 8" if one will play high enough to match with the XT19s. Budget is in the $200-$300 range (might be …

I've got around 300 to spend on a sub and am looking to get a decent s ql setup. I don't plan on upgrading my electrical so I'm trying to stick around 1000w. I want sq so w/e I choose will be put in a sealed box in the back of my extended cab toyota t100. I'm very interested in the mach 5 subs. How would say a ixl 18 compare to a fi q 18? I'm considering a single mach 5 ixl 18 or 15 with 1000w or 2 mach 5 mj`8's off of 1000. Which setup would get louder? Which would have the better sq? I'd really like to get to the 140db range but I'm not sure if it's possible with only 1000w sealed with these subs. What do yall think? Any help is appreciated.

Seeing as im a teenager the goal is defenitley loud!!! Budget for EVERYTHING is gonna be $2000 I have a 2003 ford focus se. with the factory blaupunkt system Few requirements I need to keep my back seat... Aux in is Absolute... Trunk limitations 20" high 40" wide 30" deep Sorry if this is in the wrong section i figured subs would be the best pick because that is, to me, the most important part of the system...

Hello, new member here. Im a member at several other forums like others Im sure are. Anyway. When are the SI D2's gonna be available, or is SI coming out with a new line? I'm ready to buy and to be honest my choice is coming down to the 12" si d2 and an adire audio 12" brahma. Both subs will fit my application perfectly. I've heard great things about both and well I just dont know which one to get. I'm looking for awsome SQ with the ability to hit hard in a small sealed enclosure feeding it 900 watts and both the si and the brahma fit that perfectly.

My enclosure engineer keeps on insisting to make it 1.25 cubes. Couldn't break every1's advise here to go 1.5 after displacement. WTF is he recommending 1.25? This fukker is also not concerned about the thickness of the MDF, I cant remember how many times I reminded him to make it 3/4" inch. How thick are they usually? If it requires trimming to make it 3/4" of an inch, that f00ker probably wont even bother. =\ I think Ill get another one from Gnome. What is his site's URL?

I just built a box for two audiopulse axis's sealed, with one ive used for a while and a brand new one. They are both dual 2 ohm, I got the box all finished and wired all the coils in series for an 8 ohm load for my home amp for testing, and nothin came one. I checked the final resistance of the box and it read invalid. I pulled the new sub out and checked each coil and they showed the right resistance, i pulled my older one out and it showed resistance in one coil but in the other it was invalid. I pulled the older sub out of its old box two days ago and it had a thin layer of saw dust on parts of it, i guess i didnt clean out the box all the way. I used one of the micro…

Alright to start off I'm new here and I am in no way imposing the w7 to be the end all sub woofer. Well it seems like everyone around me is trying to run the mojo of the w7. I want to sound better and get louder than my uncle. He has a 12w7 ported at 2.25bubes at 32hz on a pdx1000.1 this in my opinion is loud enough. I plan on getting two 10' q's. I am unsure on what to power them with. Probably a sundown 1500d. I can put the subs in boxes about 1 cube net I am not sure on what to tune it to. But Do you think I will be able to out slam his setup?

OK, well wondering what your opinion is on dedicated midbass drivers like the JL 6W0, TB 6.5, EU-700 and things of that sort? If one say had a higher frequency range say 10hz-4khz, would you use it? in a 2way or 3way setup? vented or sealed or in door. What price would you go for?

Hello everyone i'm looking to get some 8 inch midbass speakers for my doors, something that plays between 80hz and 1600hz, something that has alot of midbass and that sound good, i have aset of diamond audio hex 6 inch speakers right now, love the way they sound but they bottom out when putting too much power to them. i will be fiberglassing the bottom part of the doors to make the 8 inch mids fit. I'm looking for some mids that will handle some good power around 185 watts rms, P.A speakers are ok too. My car is a 1996 honda civic 2 door hatchback. well thanks for the replies............................. Brian

Do xcons or SA-10s do good sealed?? I have a ported box at the moment but thought about going sealed possibly on my next setup and spend time making a simple but very good looking box. I have a ported 18" box I could use for a 18 xcon but it was my first built box and isn't all that clean looking. I though about either sealing 1 18xcon or 3-4 SA 10s but I didn't know if they are going to do very well sealed up?? Will I lose a lot of output by going sealed vs porting them?? All experience with these drivers sealed is very appreciated!!!

hey everybody, I've narrowed down my search for 6.5" 2 way component speakers... ::Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs (60/120 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio SK6 (100/220 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio CK6 (130/280 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio TK6 (120/270 watts rms/peak each) I'm not sure of what amp i will be powering the speakers with yet. I plan on running an Fi BTL with them so I'd like something loud enough to keep up with it. What do you think would be the best choice/why... thanks! Andrew

Hey all I just bought a new truck and I'm starting to build/price a new system for it. First things first I'll be getting 2 10's to fit under my extended cab seat. I already have the box so I'm just looking to find the right subs now. What I'm looking for is something along these lines-: -Maximum mounting depth of 6 1/4" -Quality>sheer volume. (but being able to pound would be a plus) -They will be in a sealed inclosure with approximately .95cf of air space total. -power handling can be about whatever. I'll be buying a new amp based on the power required. -I'm wanting to spend around $100-$150 per sub. So nothing too fancy. (and if you know of something cheaper t…

Hey guys, I'm sure this question has been beaten to death, but it's been a looongg time since I was in the market for new sound gear. I have a 15" sittin in my truck that hasn't been used in about a year since I blew out my system which included a Hifonics BX1500d pushing the mag. Sounded good and all, but now that i'm rebuilding, I don't think I need the rediculously loud setup anymore. Just something clean and tight. I'm looking at possibly the Hifonics bxi606 -- 600watt rms @ 1ohm. Think this'll get the job done? I'm sure theres another level of amp beyond the Brutus, but for me - the watt per dollar ratio is pretty nice. Setup is ported to SI recommendations. Lemm…

Does the crossover in a component speaker system affect the way the mid-bass woofer plays? Reason I ask is because I'm currently using only the mid-bass driver of a component system and it doesnt seem like the speaker is playing as good as it did when the crossover was in use.

  20. Do birch wood speaker spacers need to be waterproofed? i went to local installer and they said they would use MDF and not waterproof them, just paint them with regular paint. but i said i would need them waterproofed so they dont soak up water so they went ahead and used birch wood speaker spacer instead. these fine, if not waterproofed or treated? and i heard these woods have harmful chemicals in them? or is that only when cutting them? and should be fine if installed in car, but not being cut?

  23. Figure this is as good a time as any to beseech some of you for your opinions on the matter of trying to match a few different subwoofer choices with a couple different amplifier configurations... I just recently got a Zed Minotaur III (not II, not a typo) and am so far loving what it has done for my DC Audio Level 2 10". Even after a couple days of use, I know this is an amp I can keep in my lineup for quite some time and I've definitely been bit by the Zed bug as a result of it. Seriously the cleanest, easiest-blending bass I've come across on a modestly-powered setup. There will be plans in the future to add a Leviathan III (or IV if one is released by the time I ord…

Don't laugh too hard, but I bought my 2nd Gen SI D2 12" sub so long ago, I forget how I was going to wire it. What Ohm do I wire this at? I ask because I may move the amp I was originally going to use to my midbass and need to find a new sub amp for this sub.

ive got a spare MJ 4 ohm laying around and i got to thinking...let throw this into the HT system. ive never messed with ht tho so im starting from the beginning. we have an Arcam reciever amp, and tuner. so my first quetion is...how do i hook everything up? is it ..sub to plate amp, and then using RCA's connect the (reciever or amp?) to the plate amp? and does the plate amp plug into the wall? secondly..what kind of box setup should i be thinking of? what would be ideal? IB or ported...this will be mostly for music and occasionally a movie or 2. probably 98% music 2% movies...if i went ported...what kind of volume and tuning should i aim for? thanks in advance
