  3. So I asked around on a few forums about my custom dual 2. Since I am adding a second coil, going from a single 2 layer to a dual 4 layer, I am adding mass and adding double the wire for current. I now have double the windings in the gap. So I asked if my Fs would drop a tad from added mass, efficiency would go up a touch from having double the windings, and if power handling would go up a tad as well as now I have 2 wires sharing the power, thus 1/2 the power going through each wire. I was basically told NO. Now I put some paint on a cone, and all you experts are like "DUDE you changed your thiele small parameters!" Are you guys freakin kidding me? And you all spend so …

Guy i work with has amp already, hifonics bxi2608d, the amp is rated at 2600x1@ 1 ohm. I dont think it does that much but he wants to run 1 12" or 1 15". Out of FI BTL, sundown Z-15, nightshade, or death penalty, which would work better with that power, ported, cant use no more than 5 cubes.

I am about to install 2 18's in the back of a Gmc Sierra Ext. Cab. I will be taking the back seat out. My question is should I have the subs and port facing up or Subs facing forward and port up. I was told to have the subs facing forward and port up but I would like more opinions on this. Thanks,

Mark, I am looking to build a 2 way bookshelf for personal use and just for the hell of it. I want to use SB Acoustics SB29 Ring Dome Tweeter and was wondering how well you think the MLI would mate up with it. Anyway, any thoughts you have are appreciated.

I seen these speakers, and thought to my self what a way to get your image up and a fuller sound out of your Front stage with a good active set up. http://www.woofersetc.com/p5352/ES02--CDT-...vers-(Pair).htm They are a 2" tweeteresk mid range speaker with a freq range down to 500 hrz up to 20k. For someone wanting a 2 way active setup these might be ideal. get your image up, get your sound stage up and alittle more flexible as far as A pillar placement with out have a crazy install. I just wondered if anyone had heard, used or even seen a set of these used before. I wonder how practical and what kind of sound do they really produce. For somone in my situation where…

Say you have 2 4ohm DVC subs that you want to wire to a 4 ohm load on a mono amp. Could you wire each sub so the voice coils are in parallel, so each sub is wired to 2 ohms, and then treat them as single voice coil subs and run them in series to get a 4 ohm load on the amp? Don't think its hard question, just one i don't know the answer to. And this is definitely a place to learn

  10. here goes! I am just currently planning for my future audio set up. here is my current set up. I currently drive a 2005 Scion Xa. 160 amp H/O alternator. It has all knukonceptz speaker wire, rca's and distribution blocks. 0g big 3 upgrade and 0g power and ground wires. A Panasonic CQ-C7205U head unit. I run an Alpine PDX 100.4 for my infinity reference components in front and coaxials in the rear. 2 Elemental Designs 13Ov.2's dual 4 ohm subwoofers in a custom 2ft3 sealed enclosure. they are 600 watts rms each, and I have them wired to a 1ohm load. I have I don't know how many feet of edead v1se sound deadening in my car, from my firewall all the way to the back fenders…

Since some of these Manufacturers have forums on here, i thought i would ask Looking for 4 12s, ~1000rms to each sub, 7cubes @34hz box, cheaper the better, not spending 350-400$ per sub, need Dual 2's Ive never used any of these, so im reaching out for people who have, i dont want to under power any, but i dont want to run into problems with them getting stinky after 30secs, not super worried about the meter, just going to be a clean sounding daily driver Taking out the wall and doing something smaller, Amp is t40001bd 1) Incrimnator Audio Li - will 4 of these handle a RF t4000 daily? 2)Incriminator Audio Death Row 3) DC Sound LVL 4 12s, im really liking the DC's, just wa…

I am beginning to think I should go sealed with my 15" SSD. Before you guys say no no you'll lose output let me tell yuo whats up. I have an extremely tiny trunk that is damn close to 15" tall maybea little more, i am not sure. I have my sub ported right now with the sub up and port back. the box's height is 13inches at the moment leaving only around 2 inches for the sub to breathe. It cause so much more rattle like this and I was wondering if you guys think sealed facing it towards the back of the car would sound just as good if not better? The reason why I can port it towards the back is because the width is only about 20" from trunk hinge to hinge which cant fit …

To make a long story short, since I started installing, I have been playing around with a few idea, and I am going to switch up my front stage. I currently have a set of JL XR5x7 coaxial speakers running off a Rockford 800a2 (Way overkill of an amp for a front stage but it leaves a lot of headroom). My buddy is selling off his set of Adire Kodas and I am thinking that would be a good route to go. The plan is to run the Kodas Passive off the Rockford amp and sound deaden my doors. I am thinking of going with some new type of deadener of the outer door skin called Black Hole and Dynamat on the inner door skin and seal everything off. The only problem is there are no g…

I almost hesitate in asking this....... as I realise that this is not really what Mach5 seems to be about (and to be honest neither am I). But....... Has anyone here utilised the smaller IXL series (such as the IXL 10) in a SPL type situation? Competitively? I am currently competing in a series of Sound Quality events which have an attached SPL component (for an overall Champ). Not designed to be top end SPL type comp but something fun for the SQ guys to compete in. Anyway I'm simply after any hints that might be floating around, I know its very install/box dependent (basically I'm in a small hatch so loading is good!) but....... you get the idea. Has anyone actually pull…

Hey, I just got a 15" BL in a a 3.6 cube box tuned to 33hz. It pounds and rumbles hardcore, but doesn't move enough air to make me happy. So I'm looking for some new setup ideas... My car is a 1996 Cutlass Supreme, so I don't have tons of trunk space. But I'm looking for something ridiculous that I can fit in here. Maybe 2 12"'s or something like that. I can proboly fit 2 15" in a sealed but I want ported So what are some ideas? I've looked at Orions and DD 9512 or maybe 2 13w7 even though there crazy overpriced. What are your opinions?

  19. I've just got this sub and at first was very disappointed with it and the lack of output and low end bass it produces, it is in a sealed box BTW, so I thought ok, it need to wear it in.... so I've now had it running for roughly about 4 or 5 hours in total this week. It seems to be a bit better but still sounds just crap and pathetic with poor low end...especially considering its worth a lot more than my previous 8" sub My previous 8" sub picked up lows very well and had pretty good output for a $40Au ($30 approx USD) sub, I'd prefer it over this monster double stacked motored Rockford Fosgate It just isnt right and distorts really easy and the old cheap sub just puts it t…

Ok real simple. Wall in a first gen two door Blazer. 2x18"subs. I will buy the apms accordingly and have plenty o' space for a build. Back seat is out and will be staying out. Now would you go with the DP 18's or the new xcon 18's? I'm torn. Don't want a SPL only machine. Just a groundpounder.

Okay, so I have a RE SX, I have had it for a year now and I am kinda getting sick of it. So, I was wondering. What kind of difference would it make going to a DC Level 4? I will be running 1000 watts to it. Would I be happier? I like good, loud, clean bass.. but who doesn't?

I've been reading that if i want loud for music, i need to go with as much cone area and power as i can. My limited power available is only 4,400w. To keep costs down, i've been looking at some subs at sonicelectronix and i see 2 that seem pretty interesting to me. They are all 12s. Clif Designs CDNUC12 Clif Designs Absolute VI 2000.4 Absolute That Absolute is the D6 version because they have no current info on the D4. I was also lookin at AQs SD2.5s but these subs are cheaper. The reason why i posted this thread is because i'm being told that running 4 12s for daily driving, because of more cone area and more heat dissipation, is gonna be a better, louder choice that run…

  25. Hey guys, well i am thinkin of buying a 2006 g35 coupe which has 7.8 cubic ft of trunk space and the system i have is 2x12's in a ported box. dimensions are 1.75ft x 2.75ft x 1.42ft = 6.84 cubic ft. i would have a little under a ft of space left over assuming it would fit at all. i also have to somehow fit 2 sundown amps in there as well...is this the stupidest idea ever or should i take a stab at it??????? if it all works i would have 4000watts pumping through the car.
