Subwoofers / Speakers

So once I get everything else EVER done to the car I would like to get some mags. I hear too many good things. I'd like to stick with 15s but they're so big, and my trunk is not. My question is how much air do they need behind them in a vented enclosure? I'm not sure how much i can squeeze out but it would probably be 4-5 cubes if i really try. I'd like to stick at that for a pair of 15s. Obviously thats right where i should be for 12s but...aren't 15s so much prettier . So will there be a huge decrease in my low end or output? Would it be enough to justify just using 12s? Whats the minimum volume ported you would use for two 15s?

Heh.. Here is what my mom was running before: Here is her new setup with the MAW-12's: I have them running on my 100.2 in my truck right now till all my parts are here for my setup... The SQ is better compared to the sealed punch s1 and gets nice and low.. Not too bad for less then 400wRMS between them as I haven't set the gain yet. Definetly a great buy for the money.

Working on redoing my previous setup to adjust it for my new car. My previous car was a mustang and i had the setup in the trunk on about 1400w at 1ohm. Sub is a 12" ICON in a sealed enclosure. For the new car, its a hatchback so it should be louder anyways. The alternator/battery isn't as strong as the mustang's was and its not really something i'm looking to upgrade right now. On the mustang I was running a cap which helped with the dimming (yea yea.. i know about caps, but it worked out for that setup). On this car, i'd like to do away with the cap. The thought is to run the amp (audioque 1200d) at 4ohm instead of 1ohm. It would drop the power down to 510w (…

I'm leaning toward a Zcon 18. But , I have a few questions. First, would the z work in a fiberglass enclosure? I would like it to be an aesthetically pleasing enclosure as well as perform. Just want to make sure that beast won't destroy my box. Second, I listen to everything and was wondering if the z will keep up with all my music choices? Not really chasing numbers but, wouldn't mind doing well if I chose to enter a comp. It's going in a 91 dodge ramcharger. Will be powered by 2 planet audio ac5000.1d's ( 1600W rms each) strapped.

Hey guys, we recently purchased '11 Toyota Venza with stock stereo and I'm pretty dissapointed with the audio system in a $40k car, whether the stock or the upgraded JBL package system, real disapointment. I want to upgrade the stock speakers only, as this is mainly my fiance's car to work and our family car for trips. I would like to know the mag(current gen) diameter needed so i can get the correct size dustcap to cover whole cone with an inverted dustcap. like this, except i will be using an Aluminum dustcap, if anyone has any alloy caps btw please let me know! here is why id like to replace. i get it out but there is a crease now, so i am replacing whole thing. thank you in advanced ~mir ali~

this is my first real post, so here goes... i am saving money for my 1st system and im lookin to do it right the 1st time ive looked at rf,re, and anything in between and now my intereststs have landed on the 12" magnum d2 i am currently workin on a custom center consol in my 2002 s10 REG CAB, so my options are limited now for the questions: 1. what kind of volume/tuning would be good for like a 60/40 or 70/30 spl/sq setup? 2.what amp would match up with that setup nicely? 3. yall are gonna hate me for this one but....how does it compare to a 12w7 in the same box/amp setup? i understand this is alot for one post but im a complete newb to the magnums, so any info/suggestio…

Can 't decide. I was in Sound Advise listening to the demo speakers, wanted to check out the Clarion decks. I coulda sworn the W7 was hittin with the Z6s until I realized it was just the components that were playing! Nice stuff. How do the 307s compare to this?

ok, well i am loving the Magnum and wantto add a 2nd 12 into my car, no 15s too big. But one, i know they no longer make them and only newer ones will be coming out. Secondly they only make D2 versions. Should i wait for the new ones to come out and will they be D4 or should just buy another one of the older siler multi spoke ones and get another amp?

Well, I am/was using an e8a for sub duty in my dorm room. Well, playing nothing rediculus, it was working fine. Came back from lunch, turned on a little bass. Nothing. fudge. Soo, i pull it outa the box, i have came to the realization that one coil is screwed. I have one working coil on it, so I might just be using one coil till I get around to buying an Assassin 8...I wanted one of them, but now I have an excuse. holy crap. I liked this little woofer too. Is it possible to get a recone of it? Cliffnotes, One coil on my ED e8a is screwed, one works. Recone possible? Most likely buying an assassin 8 now. -Ryan

Nick I would appreciated any feedbacks from you or the others. I have a 99 Accord with a cup holder that pulls down from the middle of the back seat and creates a tiny rectangular opening through the trunk. Is it advisable to face my D2s directly through this hole from the trunk through the little hole in the rear seats? They are charging me 500 for this type of install (fiberglass). Let me know if this is advisable. All I want is a tight and punchy bass.

I have been shopping a bunch of different subs to upgrade to. I have locked my budget to 450 MAX. I have been looking at 4 12" type r's. Just recently, I got more interested in 2 15 type r's. Now I am between the 2 15 type r's and an aa havoc 18. I will be running small sealed- 4 cu ft. right now, probably get another cube with a few mods to my box. I have 4 10" mtx thunder 5500 at this time, and I listen to mostly rock/metal, 70's,80's and a lot of Pink Floyd. I want: 1) better low freq extension, 2) keep the tightness that I have right now 3)more spl. I have an saz1500d for power. Any honest opinions/recommendations plz? Has anyone ever use speaker baffles for their door speakers and did you notice an improvement in sq?

I'm currently running an 05 XXX 15 in a sealed 2.2 cubic foot enclosure, power by my Linear Power 2.2HV @ 8ohms...I'd guess about 800 watts rms. The output is great, however, the added weight of a 55lb driver and I guess another 20-30 for the box is whats killing me. So I think I've decided to run 2 10s or 2 8s, though good 8s are hard to find, and I don't want to run an Rl-i, I've used TC products before and weren't too impressed with them. I'm kinda leaning towards an Icon or SSD/Q, but am having a hard time deciding. I live in Johnson City Tn and am very interested in hearing a pair of XCON subs. Not a lot of bumpers in this area so was wondering if anyone on here or anyone you know has a pair that i could drive to hear. Im willing to drive a couple hours away for the demo as my wife has insisted i hear these awesome subs before purchasing them This may need to go to general audio section, sorry if so.

Special thanks to Ryan for the box! I still have a lot of work to do. But so far I have one mag 12 in and am giving it about 400rms at 4 ohms. I will eventually have 2 12's with 1000rms going to each of them. I have a US Amps MD2 to power the subs. Here are some pictures for you all to see. Here is the Pioneer HU I recently installed. I will be getting the deh-880prs and putting that in as well. And here are some pictures of the car in case you are wondering what it looks like. And yes, the steering wheel is upside down and it drives me crazy everytime I look at that picture. I will keep everyone updated on my progress. Ben
