  2. Hey guys, hoping to get some help or suggestions here, but I'll just introduce myself a little first. I've been reading this forum for a long time though I have not really posted much, and I've basically used it ever since I did my first system about 4 years ago. Like I said, I've been in to car audio for a while, I've done 4 different of my own installs in that time, and have done and helped with many of my mates installs as well, so though I have lots to learn still, I have a fair bit of experience. I live in Australia, so our set-up here is a bit different in terms of brand availability and what we can listen to at shops etc. So, on to the problem. I recently bought …

I just ordered an Icon 10 last week. (which im really excited about) While checking my order status i came to find that during the phase awaiting shipment, that meant my sub was actually being built as i ordered it. This is new to me as the last time i ordered subs they were just shipped right to me off the shelf. I kind of like that my sub was made as i ordered it. Then i got curious as to the build process and after searching and not finding anything im wondering if anyone knows of a video or maybe a set of pictures that kind of gives you an idea of the build process of the actual subwoofer from start to finish. Im assuming there are certain parts they would want to le…

  5. Sorry in advance for the stupid questions... I've had my ICON 12" D2 for a week today after owning an Orion 12D for 15 years. I've been playing with it very much. (Review to follow) BUT Yesterday, I changed my speaker wire from 14AWG (regular speaker wire) to 10AWG (Oxygen Free) cable. My questions is: Could this make my sub play louder and harder? I'm running it a 1ohm driven by a Orion 1200D amp. I had to turn down my gain a little cause I found it louder than with the 14 gauge wire. Am I hallucinating? Can it be that much louder? Could it make a difference? I know I'm 46 Years old but c'mon! I changed the wire cause I read somewhere that running on 1 ohm you should use…

As far as Fi subs are concerned should I run 3 10" SSDs or 2 10" Qs. Will the SSDs handle 600w rms no problem. Especially if I upgraded the SSD 3 10" Qs are a No cause of my budget I noticed that the Q is desgined to work in smaller enclosures than the SSD?

I noticed Mach 5 Audio is now offering a MJ18-PR. Are there more sizes to come? I dig the box Mark made with a IXL 15 and the MJ18-PR. Dreaming out loud. I'd like to build a box with 3 IXL 10's firing up and 3 rear firing 10" PR's for my stang. Hint, hint, make a 10" PR. Keep the excellent products coming.

How do these two stack up against each other? I like Fi, but am now the owner of a DC amp. Matching equipment might be nice. Plus, I don't think anyone in Miami has DC.

Im looking for a set of components for my Nissan maxima. I have an alpine two channel that does 100rms at 4 ohms. Budget is 120. I'm looking for more SQ/""SQL"". Something with decent midbass and not harsh tweeters. These will be paired with a Dcon 12 sub. I listen to mostly rock and indie but some rap also. Right now I'm tied between image dynamics CTX or the Incriminator audio I series. If you have heard either please post. Which would you choose. Can you think of other options as well? There is very little info on both and from the little info there is it was all good. I can't decide.

Hi guyz, Just wondering if someone has already used one of those? http://www.tymphany.com/products_Tymphany_LAT.html How big should the box be (sealed) for, let's say a LAT 700? Last question, and a stupid one, would those work in an IB alignment? seems like vas and qts are good enough (my guess)... heh

So i figured i would come here for advice.

  15. As I mentioned a few threads down, my sub sounded like it was blown or there was a really bad air leak. One of the coils comes in at 2 ohms and the other is at 17-32 ohms. Look at the pics below of this coil, has this ever happened before????? The lead that was intersown came loose and where it was sown in, there is now a rip This is me pushing down to try to show just how bad the rip is. What exactly happened here?

Hi forum folk, I'm here tonight to ask about a topic I've never discussed before. Only because I had never seen them before I came to SSA and now that I've seen them once I've seen them a thousand times! The topic of the SSA Evil 6.5(sp?) Is one that I see on this forum with a turn off every "page" and it seems like many of you SSA-ers have gone to some lengths to assure you were among this elite crew of car audio enthusiasts. So what is it about these speakers that is so awesome that you're willing to wait out their build and restock? Granted they are inexpensive mid-range drivers in a sea of likely overpriced mid-range speakers but I want to know what sets them apa…

I'm doing a bit of work on my front stage in my 03 mazda and need some ideas on what drivers I should uses for pillars. I built door panels that house rockford P1652-S components running off my old Pioneer GM6000f rms 125watts per side. Sound is crazy clean but I want a bit more. So, I've got plans for building some new pillars that will either house some coaxials or components. I've got a new VIBE DEATHBOXS4-V1 that will rms125watts x 4 channels. idealy, I want to run my P1652-S's and whatever i put in the pillars off the VIBE and my rear speakers (cheap coaxials from princess auto) off the Pioneer. SO: For 125 watts rms, what should I use in pillars? coaxials or compone…

I know that the size of my speakers is 6.5", but my question is this. I have a 1995 Honda Accord and am worried about mounting depth. I've heard that the window comes down pretty close to the back of the stock speakers and on crutchfield, I'm not sure if the speaker takes into account the mounting depth. anyone had any experience with the honda accord? or if crutchfield takes into account the mounting depth?

Does this seem like overkill or could it lead to some pretty decent mids and highs?

Looking for 2 12 inch subs that go loud and low for about $250-$300 a piece. I currently have 2 mtx 7500 12s and a mtx 1501d amp. The birthsheet that comes with the amp claims 1863 watts at 2 ohms. I have looked at kicker L7s but then i found this website. Any help would be great, thanks

i loved how it performed off the rear channels of the tru 4.65 and was excited about the potential. i finally get around to giving it enough power (1000-1100w off US Amps 300X) and im just not that impressed with the lows. everything else plays like a dream and the sub/amp combo is insanely clean. its sitting in a 2cf right now and im wondering if polyfill will do the trick (and if so how much?) or if i should just make another box. i hear people favoring 2.5cf or so... what do you guys think? i wish i had a car to run it IB but i drive an xterra... ah well

Hi, I'm going to build a new system in the next month or so and at the moment this is what I'm looking at getting. 1 Fi BTL 12" or 15" MB Quart 1500 watt amp (I'll add more power when I upgrade my electrical further) However, I found a 15" Ascendant Audio Chaos on craigslist for $220 with a 4 cubic ft. enclosure. The guy says its in good condition and has only been running on 500wrms. I don't know anything about the AA line of subs. Which Fi sub would it compare to? Would it be worth the extra money to get the BTL? My goal is the loudest system under $800 heres the link to the post: Ascendant auidio 15" Chaos W/4cube ported box Thanks, Joe
