im looking for some good 6.5 mids for my 2005 durango. my factory radio is amplified. i will be adding an aftermarket amp for my aftermarket HU for mids. ( i tend to take out all my aftermarket stuff alot(crooks) ) i have a pioneer 6000 deck "new style", 18'' loaded btl; amp got stolen but getting a sundown 3000, but im going to switch between that and my kicker L7 of a us amps 1600.4 bridged at 4 ohms to put 1100 rms to the L7. so there will be plenty of bass. i have tried the alpine type R mids and they did not work for me. i was thinking focal. but ide like to get a few idea's from you guys. and what amp would you recomend on them. thanks. i have an Orion H2 12 inch sub its rated at 2000 wrms my amp is rated 1200 wrms i've had it for quite a while now and im starting to get some mechanical noise, sorta sounds like its bottoming out, but i know thats not the case b/c it has like a 4 inch travel, and its def. not moving that far. i took it to the shop i bought i from and the guy promised that the sub was not blown, but said there might be something wrong with the leads. he said he wont send it in to Directed without the original reciept, which after like 7 months i of course dont have. its not that huge of a deal cause i think im gonna get a Fi BL pretty soon, but do you guys have any idea what could possibly…

2 15" L7 on a kicker 1500zx (spending under 1100) vs. 2 15" FI Q w/ JL audio 1000/1 (would be spending 1300) is it worth it to spend the extra $200?

I am still up in the air about what i want to do with the limited amount of space i have available in my car. i remeasured everything and i realistically have about 3.5 cu ft gross to work with. I am pretty decided on building a nice baffle and facing into the cabin with subs. not sure if i should port forward or into the factory 6x9 openings in the rear deck. If i port forward, i am not sure if i should go with aeros or slot it. if i did it through the rear deck i guess that i would have to do aero ports. As some of you know I installed this 10" rockford T2 a few weeks back, wasn't that impressed at first and then i started to like it. anyway, i just picked my car up from the dealer, first thing i notice when i turn on stereo is NO bass, i stop to check all the connections, settings, etc. the basics. everything looks good. get home and put the DMM on my rca's and i can see the amp is getting signal. check the wires coming from the sub. no reading at all. so i'm like WTF and i pull it out of the box. there are NO signs of any kind that would indicate damage. rockford does a pretty good job of concealing all the important parts of their subs, but the portion of the VC that …

i am having someproblems finding a mounting position for my tweeters. If i made a box for them and mounted them on the floor but level with the bottom of seat will they sound bad? they will not be obstructed and they will have plenty of room to play. i am concerned with having a complete full sound. i want my music to blend well with my subs. they are oing in a lincoln towncar.

now i've heard that tweeters are very tempermental. i've heard stories of them conestantly blowing due to WAY to much power.... now upon thinking you could just hook up a crossover and restrict the power? right? also with the current engineering of the 6.5's and 6x9's is it even worth it to put in 2 or even 4 tweeters? (two in the front pillars, two by backseat passangers head). also the V-MAX cerwin vega seem like a good deal for about 50$ you get the 2 tweets and a crossover or in that case is it better to go with a higher end tweet system (if one is needed at all) and spend the extra 40$ per pair? my current system (after getting some things) 2 alpine type S 6x9's in t…

Hi, I have a 12" Alpine type s in a vented Bassworks box( pretty big ) driven by a Pioneer GM-7100M (RMS Power at 2 Ohms = 360 W x 1 RMS Power at 4 Ohms = 250 W x 1). head unit : pinoeer DEH-P7700MP I'm listening to Punk Rock, Death Metal, Metal, Hard-rock and a little bit of Dr. D.R.E amd Cypress Hill. I find my bass not tight enough and not fast enought to hadle my music preferences. Do you think that two 8" subwoofer in a sealed box will do the job? Should I use two SVC 4" sub to get the 360w at 2 ohms of my amp What brand and model of subs should I go for? Sry for my english

Here it goes... At work, we have a Definitive Supercube subwoofer (awesome little things) that has been having problems. It powers up but will have little to no output. That's beside the point. I took it apart and checked the coil to see if it was open. I took my meter and it measured just under 30 ohms. We talked to the Definitive rep and he said that was right. My question is, what advantages are there to using a high impedance speaker like this? Keep the impedance spike higher in the FR range so the true sub bass isn't affected? I also figured that the plate amp would have to be designed to match the speaker also so parts cannot be properly swapped out. Just a …

hi, my freind that i wound up selling my xxx componot set to told me that they are making a mechincal type noise whenever they get past half volume. And he has them powering off of a sundown sax100.2 and set for 20volts at 2 ohms (200watts) now he left me them to mess around with them and i got them to not make the noise if i turn down the equalizer ( it's an alpine 9887) so was it just the speakers reaching their mechincal limit or should i tell him to start looking for new speakers. i already emailed re audio but have not gotten a response yet. thanks

Hey guys, I have a brother that I installed an mj18 with a buttkicker silent subwoofer amp for almost 2 years ago. It has been great for him but now he is ready to upgrade, currently since the mj18 is 4ohm the amp is running 4ohm. What I would like to do is keep the amp, and 3.6-3.8cf box and replace the mj18 with an ixl18, but I realize its a 2+2voicecoil config. So the buttkicker is 2ohm stable, but I have read that if an amp is 2ohm stable then it will be 1ohm stable as well is there any truth to this? Also the box is sealed, and I wondered how the ixl would do in the sealed box at 3.6cf. We really like the price point for what the ixl can do. The only other opti…

when you use poly fill in a box should u get the mat style or the just the plain loose poly fill? i read that the loose stuff can get up in the motor and damage it...

Well the title states it all. Im looking for one 12 to put in a sealed fiberglass box. For power I have a sundown sae-1000d and i have up to 2 cubic feet to work with. i was thinking of running a ssa icon in 1.2 cf. Anybody have any other suggestions?

my friend wants to know what will be the best option to go with he said he wants it to be loud and low i told him go sealed but i dont know what else to tell him we have the same car 89 caprice its down to three sealed or two ported 15's and i also know that a lot of people not a big fan of sealed boxes so can i have a options and opinions please

I just picked up a 04 crossfire, and have setteled for two tens. I found a box that is .42 x 2, that will face the rear. I haven't went speaker shopping since the mid 90's. I'm used to two 12 inch hollywoods, in a small box for mustangs, with a bazooka 700w amp. almost enough to vibrate your eyes. With a budget in mind, what should I look into? brands, versions, amp???? any suggestions, thanks chris

I have some peerless sls 10's I wanted to use for midbass in my next three way set up. But there is no way they are going into the doors of my car like I wanted. If I had power windows it would be no problem because the shaft for the window handle would not be in my way. So, instead I came up with an Idea to do some large kick pods that open up into a shallow false floor up front. Which brings us to my question????? Has anyone else heard of and or done something this drastic to get the proper air space for their speakers up front??? If so...Is it even worth it?? Thanks in advanced
