I always see the ports extending INTO the box...what if the port was on the OUTSIDE of the box? Would this make any difference?

This thread on SMD was pretty interesting. Pretty much guy buys a no name sub that is the same as another name brand sub for 3x less, then other poster sheds some light on how much imported subs really cost and how most of the money is marketing. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/152076-vvme-12-ebay-mystery-subs-12000-for-2/page__st__180 http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/325679659/car_subwoofer.html

Here is a dumb question, I already have my subs firing towards the trunk lid in my car. My friend has 2 15' Memphis PR's in his S-10 firing down.... I was wondering if I had the room could I put my subs in my back seat firing towards the back glass or could I have them face the floorboard..... The trunk rattles wayyy to much and I was just curious. Wasn't sure if it would work or not. ~MadroX

Now everyone knows that LR posted his free box of the week on CA and it looks good to me but then again i dont know much about it, he does. is 3.2ft^3 big enough ? hes got it tuned to 32 and that seems so much easier when you have all of the cutout sizes laid out for you in that diagram. im thinking i might want the tuning more at say 29 but im not sure. i was going to go sealed for the easiness of the construction versus ported but im lookingat my options as of now. anyone care to comment?

Ok, I had about 4 paragraphs typed up then accidentally x-ed out of all my tabs on firefox...so here it goes again! Finally...my write-up is here...I've been busy and didn't get time to write anything WHILE the driver was still here. First, I'd like to thank Mr. Nick Lemons for the opportunity to demo such a unique and amazing driver. I was watching for UPS everyday when I heard the news the new SI d2 had been shipped out to me. I couldn't wait, when I received the package I immediately took it up to my dorm room and opened it. I stared googly-eyed at the beautiful woofer...picture do NOT do this subwoofer justice. The back-end is SO sexy...nice bumped back-plate...it's h…

I am thinking about re-doing my setup and would like some opinions. I am thinking about moving my 4 DP21"s to the passenger side, and port on drivers side. Then the idea for 8 15"s started creeping into my head. The subs in each setup will be on 2k wrms each, so it's not really a fair comparison since it will be twice the power with the 15"s, but o well. The 8 15"s would be on bottom with the port across the top most likely. Some of the subs I have been considering for the 15"s are: BTL's, new DP's, Lvl 5's, and Exos. Right now I am leaning towards the Atmos Exos. Wall is in an 03 Expedition at the B-pillars, 40 cubes and will be tuned somewhere between 28 and 32hz. Prob…

I'm currently saving up money for a system but I'm kinda having a hard time deciding on a subs. My options are 4 Mach 5 MJ18's or 4 Fi SSD15's. I want a loud daily driver and I would only do local comps, maybe. They would be put in their recommended ported box and they will be run off of a SAZ-3000d when it comes out. I know the SSD's are going to be more than double the cost of the mj18's but if they're worth it I would get them. What should I do?

Hello. I am new here and looking for an answer to an easy question. I have a 2002 Civic and I am looking at a Q Logic Custom sub box. First, does anyone have any experience with those units. Second, the volume of the Q Logic enclosure is 0.65 cu. ft. The Fi Q I am looking at calls for 0.2-0.6 cu. ft. of volume, but it has a 0.12 cu. ft. displacement. Does this mean the Q Logic would work? The way I am calculating it is that 0.65-0.12=0.53 cu. ft. volume after installation. Thank you in advance for the help. Nick

Need to hit all of the Sundown owners up to what boxes you have used. Ihave 2 SA 12's that i will be running at a 2ohm load off a Kicker ZX1000.1. Ihave always had sealed boxes and thought that they were better for SQ and the lower bass notes. I am open to suggestions as i have NEVER used one of these subs before. If i should go ported what should it be tuned to and how many cubic ft for 2? If sealed should i use poly fill and if so how much and how many cubic ft for 2? Any reference material or you tube videos you can link me to would be great. thanks guys.

Just wondering if anyone had tried these yet? The specs seem to fit well into my plans, I've got about 450rms to play with at 4 ohms in a new project.

Hello, I have a 2013 Chrysler 200, and the upgraded 3.5" Kicker coaxial speakers I have in the dash leave a LOT to be desired. I've installed car audio components in my previous cars, but I have never really been successful in achieving a desirable setup; most likely because of my lack of expertise in car audio installation. Hopefully this time I can do a better job, but in all honesty I will not have the capabilities that I see some people have (yeah, I can't custom mount a midbass driver in the kickpanel... lol). I'm most likely looking at a 6.5" component set, and mounting the 1" tweeter in the factory dash location. It will be easy to have the tweeter aiming str…

I've learned the advantage of kicks are the ability to even the amount of space between your ears and the speaker, help with midbass response from being sealed, and help with aiming and imaging. But i've heard that most speakers were made for IB use and some companys like rainbow don't reccommend sealed enclosures. And could a headunit with time alignment solve the problem of the driver distance? The reason i ask is because i want to put some woofers into my door to cover from 80hz~800hz and want to know would it be a GREAT advantage to put them in kicks if i got a pair with good off axis response, and had time alignment. Would i still get a lot more midbass from a sealed…

i was setting the gains for my front stage today by using a 1khz test tone, the test tone was only for the left channel, i forgot to disconnect the speakers from my amp , so after i was done setting the gain, i smelled the smell and i was scared. I put on a lil Santana to test my newly set gains out, and it seemed that the left channel was noticably quieter than the right channel, enough where the right side, overcomes the left. the right speaker still works, gets loud, just not as loud. Is my speaker screwed?? or is there a way to get it loud again?
