Hi guys I am trying to figure out what is the best sub for around $200 that I can get. Here are my criteria: 15" 1000 rms More for SPL than SQ ~$200 I would prefer 1ohm stable but doesn't really matter.... My amp is a AQ1200D-rated at 870rms @ 2ohms and 1200rms @1ohm.... So far I am leaning towards the Alpine Type-R 15", many people have positive reviews about it... What other subs could I look at? thanks in advance!

Okay, so when you wire three subs together, there are always weird impedance numbers. It's never a solid one or two ohm. It's always some strange decimal. Example: So I was wondering, what if you wired, say, two dual 1's together for a 1 ohm load, then wired a dual 2 to a one ohm load and plugged them all into the amp, would the third sub be in phase or all out of wack? I just want to know if this will work out, because then you have all three subs together on a solid 2 ohm load. EDIT: Just to clarify, the 2 dual 1 ohms subs and the single dual 2 ohm sub are wired completely separately and then the two sets of leads are plugged into the amp for a solid 2 ohm load.

I wanted to get some input on components as I have had little luck with getting the goods. I have limited car audio dealerships near me and they all seem to deal about 6 manufacturers and not all that great. The best I hear around here tends to be the cheaper JL VR series. Thats not saying much I'm sure, so any suggestions for someone who cant ear them. I like them to be linear, meaning not bright in the highs and not flat in the mid bass region. And worst of all they have to be competent for my next attempt at an LSQ vehicle which will be most likely a trio of Fi SSD 15's powered by a SunDown Saz-3000D at 1.33 ohms ( I'm banking on 2250 - 2500 watts there.) I am expectin…

Is a JL 500/1 be enough power to really pound my mag 15'' D2? Also is there any other amps with comparable features/sq as the 500/1 for a less price and maybe a few more watts? I really like the 500/1 and have got many positive reviews. Does anyone have a birthsheet on one of these puppies?

After my brother came to me wanting a new sub for his 84 S-10 after his ex-wife stole and sold his old one on him. I imediatelly recommended the MAW-15. Well today we installed it in an old 2 cubic foot prefab box I had kicking around the house and hooked it up to his Alpine MRP-M350 which is rated at 350rms @ 2ohm. With the size of the box and seeing as its only an extended cab, the MAW sits only 2" behind the front seats facing forward. And I have to say.......having never driven a car where I bascially sat near the sub, or even having a hatch or fold down rear seat for that matter. I was truely impressed yet again at the musicality and overall output of this driver. My…

So, I'm been itching to build. But I still cant come up with a good design for the Uberwoofer for HT use. By HT use, I mean an F3 <25 and a lowpass ~40. Action movies. heh. Any way you slice it, no more then 600rms to throw at her. Thinking BIG Ported (although it's not easy to hide in a liviing room). 6.0ft^3 net, (3) 4" aeroports, tuned to 20hz. Gives me a nice knoll around 30-50hz, flat ~25 - 30, and an F3 around 18. -or- Maybe a dub tuned BP? 6ft one side, 2ft the other... small peak from 22-30 then steep roll off till 42ish on the high side and a low end f3 of 19ish. -or- A... nah, I dont have room to make a proper horn. I don't like TL's much. At least, I didnt …

  13. Ok so running two rockford p3 15's 2.5 cubic per sub still within Rockford specs of 1.86 to 3.0 cubes. Subs are d2 wired on a RF T1500BDCP at 2ohm so subs seeing a few hundred watts over rms should I be ok with subsonic off? Amps filter is 28hz with a 12db slope . A few people said because I went with closer to the large side I should use the filter but I'm not sure I lose a lot of low end with it on .

  14. Installed my Next FLS 6 6.5" shallow mount components today. I decided to install the FLS's rather than the "regular" ALS comps because I have a fetish for shallow-mount designs and seeing how they perform Only have about 30 minutes with them so far.....put them through some tracks I'm familiar with and tossed in my IASCA test disk for a few tracks. Installed them in my doors; mid ran infinite baffle, tweeter in the stock location about 6" down from the sail-panel. Powered through the passives off of two channels of my Coustic DR-514 (50w RMS per side). HU is an Eclipse 8053. Low end is taken care of by a 12" Rl-p. First impressions: Tonality is pretty darn good.…

  16. Ok guys, I am going to do my best to describe my setup and goals for my next system. Please help if you have had experience with any of these subs! Right now I am running: 2007 Chrysler 300C 1- Fi Q15 4 cubes tuned to 30 hz. Cadence iA7 Optima Battery Big 3 I really like my Q but I want something LOUDER. I am willing to sacrifice some SQ for SPL. I miss my head splitting bass!!! However I DO NOT want to rid of the low end output that i love so much. Im sure any of these subs will sound good enough to suit my needs... that being said which one will be the loudest and still low on approx 1200w RMS power and i will make a new ported box to suit any subs need. I will be repla…

  17. Hey guys. Just saw this forum. I'm buying a 15" SI MAG D2 in a month or so. I want to design a box asap so that I can drop the sub right in as soon as I buy it. I'm going SQ over all but I want it loud too. Just not at the expense of SQ. I have my box designed pretty much. I was going to go 3 cu ft. And here is my question: for a sealed enclosure with a min of 1000wrms and maybe up to 1200wrms in a TRUNK of a large car (mercury grand marquis) what would be the best size box in your opinion? 2.6 cu. ft? 2.8 cu. ft? LESS, or more? Or am I on the right track with a 3 cu ft enclosure? I listen to rock mostly but rap as well. a lot of classic rock all the way up to death metal…

I have a mach5 audio MJ-18 i would like to throw it in a ported box but space is a huge issue. I could do 3.5 maybe 4 cubes at 34hz. will be giving the sub between 600-800 rms. i know its not optimal but it would be better than sealed correct

Ok guys, my brother's b-day is coming up and he's heading out to college, and am wanting to put a setup in the car he's getting. What am wanting to know is which sub would produce good SQ and also get a little loud, and in that order. Am looking at either the 15' Q from Fi, or the 15' Level 4 from DC sound lab? Either will be ported on a AQ1200d. Help me out guys

  21. How do the speed nuts get used properly? Do they attatch to the metal frame of the door and then the screw goes thru it or do they just lay flat against the metal frame and the screw goes thru. Clockwise or counter clockwise ?

So at the moment i own an orion xtr pro 124 powered by a piece of shit boss 1500. I know it's a terrible set up but i was tight on money at the time. Right now i have about 500$ to spend on a woofer and about 400-600 for an amplifier. I drive a 1999 mustang and i would be building a custom box according to the woofer. I listen to mostly dubstep and rap and love the low's. I was looking at either a 15" mayhem or a 15" Zcon? Any of you owned either of those and know how they sound or how loud they are?
