Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

I'm all new to this car audio stuff so I'm a little lost. I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and i bought new speakers for my front and rear doors. my fronts are 6x9 Boss speakers and my rears are 6.5 Boss speakers. I wanted it to be louder and not to sound like crap when i turn up the bass and treble. It now sounds good except it's the same volume limit as the stock speakers. The rear ones are 400w a piece and the fronts are 350w a piece. Shouldn't the volume be able to go a lot louder than my stock ones? is this because I have a stock head unit? Should i get an amp? Thanx.

As the topic says. Does anybody have first experience with these 6.5" component sets? How do they sound? Are the highs edgy? Is the midbass there? With my accommodation price...they're definitely one of my first picks. Any other recommendations around the, oh let's say, $130 price range? For power I'm looking at around 100 watts RMS...most likely a SAX 100.2 (or SAE 50.4 bridged? ). I'm not sure I can justify the extra costs of going active; I'm not terribly picky about the lack of adjustability.

Subwoofer Comparison Test: Round 3 By Vance Dickason Photography: Rob Mcpherson As in amateur boxing, this is the third and final round of the Subwoofer Comparison Test. This time we feature four speakers in the highest price category, $499 and up. No knock-outs or TKOs but certainly there are winners in our series of tests. But you are the judges and make the final determination. In the end, context is king. The woofer that is best is the one that is best for you. Objective: Four Max Performance Long Excursion 12" Woofers In the first round of the Subwoofer Comparison test we looked at four woofers that had price tags from $270-$300, followed by the second group that ran…

I've researched both Maw 12 and the V-Max 12.x, but I still havent found a clear answer on which one has more SPL and good SQ. I'm also open to other subs in the same price bracket ($100ish) and fits my needs. It seems like once I find one I plan on buying, I find another more options to choose from. I'm building a ported box and buying the amp to match the sub I purchase... which brings me to my other question... ...can someone point me in the direction of an amp ($150ish) they recommend?

i have a question about a system i plan to build, i have a 07 monte carlo. i plan to get the rockford power 1000 5 ch, from all the reviews and info i found on it the sub channel makes about 900 rms. i dont know which way i wanna go with the subs, should i get two 12s at 500 rms a piece or a single 15 at 1000 rms. from what i found about most subs i looked at for a single 15 the ported box size is about the same as two 12s in a ported box. as for the install i dont want it to take up the whole trunk so i want to build a box around 3.5 to 4 3ft. but what combination would sound better, i like rap mostly and i like it loud. thanks for the info in advance.

Hi Guys, I am currently running a Crunch GP12D4 running off a Hifonics Titan TXi 6006 (budget setup in a small UK car) but I'm not sure what the ideal box would be? I'm going for an SQ setup but I do like my bass The manufacture reccomend 1cu ft in a sealed box & 1.25 cu ft in a ported box? What would you guys recommend? Also what would be the best way to wire up my sub to give the best sound? Sorry for all the noobie questions but there isnt as much online info in the UK Thank's all!

Welp... picked up my SPL 12 from the post office today.... damn it's impressive. Unfortunately my comp. car is in storage already... so it'll have to wait a few months before I can play with it If Mark comes out with a 15 though... I can guarantee I'll be picking up a pair of those too!

  12. So. I'm looking for a tweeter that can play pretty low (~2k and up) and I came across these and from the specs they seem to do what I want them to. They're also easier to mount than a traditional large-format tweeter. So yeah. I have these http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-8-woofers/silver-flute-w20rc38-04-ohm-8-wool-cone/ Off axis in the doors. I like them. I couldn't really tell you why except to say that they play down to ~60hz and sound nice doing it. I know I can't cross them over very high though. So out of these two, which would work better. http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/horn-tweeters/audax-pr125t1-horn-tweeter/ http://www.madisoundspeakerstor…

Theres going to be a meet on october 21st and tommyk is bringing his TL. So ill have a chance to meter the MAW-15. I dont remember reading any scores from it, so im curious to see what it will do. Granted, its in a 3 cu. ft. box tuned to 28hz on about 800 watts, in a large car. So im not expecting anything great, but it does the job just fine for me. I know 2 MJ-18's got metered, but has anyone had the 15's metered on a daily setup?

I have a mach5 audio MJ-18 i would like to throw it in a ported box but space is a huge issue. I could do 3.5 maybe 4 cubes at 34hz. will be giving the sub between 600-800 rms. i know its not optimal but it would be better than sealed correct

Hello i am in the market for front stage, ive been drooling over CDT for years and finally wanna make the leap and buy some, please give your opinions, ill be using (2) sa-8's.....would you rcommend a 3 way CDT set consisting of a 6.5" / 4" / 1" on a sundown 125.2, or would you recommend i do a 2 way set which would be a 4" / 1", and a separate strong CDT 6.5" midbass, >>>point being do you think ill realy need a strong 6.5" midbass with only 8" subwoofers, or a 3 way comp set with slightly less power would be sufficient?

  21. Yo, I have an older model 12" magnum sitting around, and i would like to put her to use in my stereo setup at home. however currently up front i have hybrid audio L4's playing from 16k to 180ish, then 8" DLS subs taking over from 180 down to around 40/50hz! so i'm looking for an enclosure that goes low, really god damn low, 20hz would be nice. i have a 1200w amp on it's way, so it will have plenty of power! space isn't really an issue aswell. Tried running the ts params through BBP but i can't seem to get the F3 below 38hz, which is a little lame and i enjoy woodwork, so if it involves a complicated design, than i shall build a complicated design. Ta very much Tim

I having been using BBP 6 and WinISD to design a ported box for 2 Icon 12D1 and getting 2 different port lenghts. Could someone confirm which one is more accurate? My box will be made with 3/4 mdf 17 1/4 high 48 wide and 14 deep outside measurements. After sub and port displacement BBP 6 calculates this to be 4.043 cubs with a port 12.5 X 3 at 32 1/4 long tuned at 27h. WinISD says same specs with port length at 27.94. This is going in a 95 Mazda B3000 extra cab powered by a Sundown SAE 1200 for daily usage. I am fairly decent at box building but mainly just built sealed boxes. I want to try a properly designed tuned box for this new setup. Am I heading in the right direc…
