I've heard a few subs make a funky sound when more power is applied to them that just doesn't sound like the bass the artist put in the song. On low volumes its fine. On higher volumes It sounds like the sub is puking. I hate that sound and i turn the bass down to when its gone. I've heard it mostly on punchy bass, long drawn out bass is usually fine. What causes this, is it when a sub exceeds its xmax or is that overrated in knowing what the sub sounds like as well? That's my only guess. I haven't heard lots of different subs but all the ones i heard did it.

Are these any good? I found a local shop with some FNX1514's and FNX2514's brand new in the boxes and some Fanatics amps as well. From what I can tell these are older Fosgate but I don't know much about them. What is a good price to pay for them? Should I get them?

Hi Guys, I am currently running a Crunch GP12D4 running off a Hifonics Titan TXi 6006 (budget setup in a small UK car) but I'm not sure what the ideal box would be? I'm going for an SQ setup but I do like my bass The manufacture reccomend 1cu ft in a sealed box & 1.25 cu ft in a ported box? What would you guys recommend? Also what would be the best way to wire up my sub to give the best sound? Sorry for all the noobie questions but there isnt as much online info in the UK Thank's all!

Quick little background..... I'm 19 and own a '05 4runner. I started with (3) 10" mtx's and thought that was the sh*t! Soon I learned about JL,RE,RF etc.. Soon after learning about these brands and their reputation I ordered a 13w7, but soon after purchasing that sub I was introduced to FI Audio. After watching many video's of FI making many customers satisfied I decied to ditch my W7 and order a pair of 15" BTL's. I know some what about car audio, but nearly nothing compared to some people I've seen on these fourms. Soon I will be ordering a pair of 15" BTL's, but I'm not totally sure what options I should pick for the subwoofer? I would be using the subs as a daily…

I have a friend at work who has an older caprice..he had 8 10's crammed in the trunk when I met him.. I told him what I thought.. Not enough room for that many speakers. So he re builds with 6 10's. All kicker subs. He always comes to work bumpin and it sounds like shit IMO.. Long story short he heard my 18" btl in my Tahoe off a saz1500 and he realized he's doing something wrong and now wants advice. I would like to see if he could fit 2 BL 15's in there and he's willing to buy em but I had him give me measurements before anything.. This is what he gave me. W 46 L 32 H 14 He says the 14" is where the trunk latches and if he builds it taller closer to the seats that will…

i know yall have heard me say i have 2 15" cvx's in sealed box which is about 5 cubic feet!! i wanna show off at prom next weekend but i only have 1 fi q 15"right now, the other one i ordered about 3 days ago, so it will take like a week for the other one to come in.... right now i have the q in the box on my kicker zx 1000. however i still have the 2 cvx's handy, so should i just use those to show off and put my titanium 2400 amp back in to push them? or would yall just leave the Q in on the zx 1000? to me the Q sounds alot better and picks up more frequencies but i'm still kinda breaking the sub in, i've probably played it for about 1 hour total! if you were in my shoes…

I'm torn on what to buy. I love SPL and SQ, but I dont want to much of either. I'm afraid I'll get something and want more and more. I need to find a single 12'', maybe two. Has the quality of the RE XXX's gone down? I remember then as beasts, and the dream subs... Ascendant Audio Havocs? Fi Q or BL? Sound Splinter RLp? Help... BTW, is it better to get a 20.1 for this install or a SAZ-1500?

Guy wants $400 and since Fi isnt selling the gen 2 anymore and the neo's wont work with the gen 2's this might be a good choice.. this is where i got thrown in a loop.. ran across this ad on craigslist. http://stockton.craigslist.org/ele/2011526092.html some DC audio lvl4 18's.. 2 of em for the price that this guy wants to sell me 1 btl for.. i know nothing about DC audio. i know its a quality product. Im looking at both as a good deal.. buying the btl will give me 2 total which is what im trying to run.. o…

Same motor and soft part assembly. The difference is cone size and basket. Same amount of power is applied and the same size/tuning enclosure. What I am noticing in winISD is that the two 15" are more efficient and the four 12" have a less than 3db higher output. Is it fair to say that the output difference between four 12" and two 15" are negligible with same power and enclosure? FYI I compared four 12" xcons and two 15" xcons in 8^3ft tubed to 32hz. I also compared four 15" xcons and two 18" xcons in 15^3ft tuned to 32hz. The 15" & 18" comparison gave the same results as mentioned above.

Tell me if theres anymore info you need. I want explanations also. -1 BTL15 in a 5cuft box -2 BL12 in a 5cuft box -2 SSA Icon 12 in a 5cuft box -2 Alpine Type-Rs 15 in a 6cuft box (cheapest) I also have three other choices but lower than the max ported box specs. Recently I edited some music, and it had a few really low notes. Decided it was about time I moved my high pass up a little from 15hz. Did that and then for some reason decided it was a good idea to reset my gain even though it sounded perfect as is... As I was doing this and I had the gain all the way down and the deck paused, I noticed a fluttering whine coming from my subs. Thought it was a little weird cause I had never noticed it before. I forgot to mark where I had the gain before which was a mistake.. I tried to set the gain with a 40hz tone, but It was hard to tell where It actually started clipping, I was hearing distortion way before I should have. I thought I h…
