Just looking for opinion's here.. currently have a BTL 18" (gen 2) and im in the market for a 2nd. I have located one which has never seen power.. brand new basically. Guy wants $400 and since Fi isnt selling the gen 2 anymore and the neo's wont work with the gen 2's this might be a good choice.. this is where i got thrown in a loop.. ran across this ad on craigslist. http://stockton.craigslist.org/ele/2011526092.html some DC audio lvl4 18's.. 2 of em for the price that this guy wants to sell me 1 btl for.. i know nothing about DC audio. i know its a quality product. Im looking at both as a good deal.. buying the btl will give me 2 total which is what im trying to run.. o…

Does anyone know where the t/s parameters to the 18's of either the 9500 or the hdc3 can be found? I am trying to get a box designed but the companies don't have them posted that I can see.

I've learned the advantage of kicks are the ability to even the amount of space between your ears and the speaker, help with midbass response from being sealed, and help with aiming and imaging. But i've heard that most speakers were made for IB use and some companys like rainbow don't reccommend sealed enclosures. And could a headunit with time alignment solve the problem of the driver distance? The reason i ask is because i want to put some woofers into my door to cover from 80hz~800hz and want to know would it be a GREAT advantage to put them in kicks if i got a pair with good off axis response, and had time alignment. Would i still get a lot more midbass from a sealed…

Right now I have a RL-p12 powered by a JBL BP1200.1 in a 1.35 cube sealed box. I want to build a ported box just because I never have before and I'm ready for a change. I have a max of about 2 cubes to work with. Can anyone describe the difference in sound between a higher and lower tuned frequency? I'm a bit of a bass head that listens to a lot of really fast bass (metal w/ double bass, punk) and I love feeling the thud into my back every time the bass pedal hits. What frequency should I shoot for, or perhaps there's more to the equation that I should look at?

As the title states I am stuck between the 2. I have 1.0 cubic foot sealed per sub. power will come from an alpine mrp m1000 so 1000 watts at 2 ohms. I listen to mainly hard rock ie five finger death punch, metallica etc. I like my bass hard hitting but accurate. All this will go in a 2009 chevy silverado crew cab head unit is a pioneer avh p 4300 and alpine components up front. Both subs are virtually the same price i was hoping some of you may have had a chance to compare them and what your opinions are. Also as far as the ssd's go for those of you who have them what options do you believe are important especially as far as my setup goes. Thanks in advance-Dave

I have an Alpine 12" Type-R 1242D subwoofer and I'm currently looking at an Alpine MRP M500 amplifier. The sub puts out 500 watts RMS (dual voice coil, 4 ohms), and the amp puts out 500 watts at 2 ohms. First, how do I bring the sub down to 2 ohms, like people say they do? Also, does the amp need to be more powerful? After measuring the power it can put out specifically, it came to around 600 watts. Is that too low or too high? I'm looking for a good, deep bass, mainly for rap, just for reference.

I've got two IXL 18's, svc 4 ohm, I believe they're pre-ordered models but they've never seen power. My cat Sandwich decided to sleep on one of them the day after I got them in the mail and caved in a nice fresh dust cap. If I wanted to recone these to dual voice coils, either D2 if I decided to use one, or D4 if I want to use both (looking for a 1 ohm load) (the baskets have holes on the other side waiting more push terminals)... What options do I have when it comes to getting them re coned? Cost? Thanks in advance. * Power would most likely come from a Sundown 3k

I am in Orlando and there is a shop that my friend owns and runs and it is called Audio Excellence. Anyways when I was there the other week they had a customer's car and it was an old classic sedan. Anyways it had three 10s sealed and there was a port on the rear deck. When I asked them about it they told me that it eliminates the rattle in the trunk and fires the bass into the cabin. Has anyone know what is the true nature of doing this besides tearing up the rear deck. Thank you Ebrahim

One of the voice coils on my sub no longer reads 4 ohms. I'm repairing one of my subs right now, and I decided to ohm the other subs just to see if i damaged more than that one. Well one coil is reading 6 ohms instead of 4 ohms. Leads are not broken and they do not seem to be burnt. Coil doesn't appear to be discolored. Any thoughts? Thanks

Is there any companies out there that would be willing to custom make a recone kit with a high roll surround? Say I wanted to recone a BTL or something or that sort, but I really wanted a high-roll rubber surround. I know TC makes their subs with them, as does SoundSplinter with their Rl-p 18, but I want to do it with a sub like the BTL, DD 9500, or something else in an 18.

Was just curious about which of these would be louder. 2 IA 187 10s in 1.5 cubes each tuned to 33 - 34hz or 2 SSA dcon 12s in 1.75 cubes each tuned to 33 - 34hz? I have the dcon 12s already, but my gf likes the way they sound sealed and I'm thinking of giving them to her with the sealed box. I've personally never tried 10s before, so it would be something new to me. I could get the 2 187 10s for an awesome price as well.

I have a friend at work who has an older caprice..he had 8 10's crammed in the trunk when I met him.. I told him what I thought.. Not enough room for that many speakers. So he re builds with 6 10's. All kicker subs. He always comes to work bumpin and it sounds like shit IMO.. Long story short he heard my 18" btl in my Tahoe off a saz1500 and he realized he's doing something wrong and now wants advice. I would like to see if he could fit 2 BL 15's in there and he's willing to buy em but I had him give me measurements before anything.. This is what he gave me. W 46 L 32 H 14 He says the 14" is where the trunk latches and if he builds it taller closer to the seats that will…

Would this work? I know the rms is only 250 rms. The box is tuned to 35 hz (slot ports) and is 2 cuft before displacement. I remember seeing a thread saying the MAW's could take a little more then their rms, but would 600 watts be pushing it? I found a guy selling a pair for $35 each , $87 total shipped to me. I have been wanting to get a pair of MAW's since M5 showed up on the forums, I think I am going to go ahead and buy them and just go easy on the gain. What say you guys, Mark, feel free to leave your expert input

I haven't been on this forum in a while so just thought I would drop in. Can't wait to see the new BM series drivers come out. Also, I have been working on my install off and on lately, added new HO alt, Yellow Top, Big 3, etc.... and will be soon building a new home for my Mag 15 and amp rack. I am tempted to go ported but don't want to lose the sq that I love so much about the sealed mag. However, I am still being impressed more and more as I have had alot more time to play with my mag lately and this sucker still impresses the hell out of me and anyone that listens to it. Again great job SI!!!!! sure wish I could fit 2 15s.

Well this pretty much sucks. I have a brand new set of ID Xs-65 Components in my truck, along with a pair of ID CTS-69 in the rear. They are powered off a 4x150 PDX amplifier. I don't have my subs in, I have the crossover set at 60hz HP all the way around. I was driving the other day, listening to the radio at a normal level (Can't crank it without woofers and getting it set up) and one of the 6.5's stopped working. Mind you, I have the gain to just above muted on the amplifier, and again, I'm not rocking out with no adjustments or subwoofers to tune it in. First I thought that maybe my crossover wiring came undone since the tweeter was still playing. Nope. Hooked touch…
