I'm thinking about trying to build a subwoofer with a Ti basket and a 3'' 400 oz motor but I don't know what would be the best voice coil for it

i was thinking for my 2006 install 3 10"s of something instead of a single 12" RL-p D2. Both will be in 2-2.5 cubes ported to 31 hz (so i need 3 10's that will be nice in a small ported box. I know for sure it will get louder with the 3 10's of good quality, but is it really worth the xtra money? and space and power aint a problem, my trunk is 42" long. list of drivers i may be using (I would prefer a black cone to match my 2006 install) no IA or ID, i want something new: RE SE 10" SI mag (Do they make 10") RL-I 10 OZ ME Arc Arc's eD 11OV2's anything you pple would reccomend.

I have 2 15" MTX thunder 4500's running at 4 ohms off a memphis 1000 watt d class. I was riding around town today when I noticed a remarkable difference in output.. I checked the subs when I got home, to see that one had NO output at all.. I took the sub out to look at it, and the voice coil seems to be "seperated" or torn away from the spider.. Is this the reason that the sub stopped working, and is it repairable? It's not a major concern, I only had these subs as a temporary fix until I order my 15" Fi BL. It would still be nice to have both of these subs in working order though. Any thoughts? here's a link to a video of what happened.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O…

started brainstorming & decided to redo my whole system instead of just adding the rlp 15's. I'm looking for decent sq but want to be loud as well. My general knowlegde of car audio is ok (learned a lot on this forum! ) but my knowlegde of sq & how to set it up really sucks. My car has the stock chrysler infinity system in it which isn't a bad setup imo but it really lacks the ability to get loud. It's the 7 speaker system w/ 1 dash tweet, 2 front door pillar tweets, 2 front door 6.75's & the rear shelf speakers. As much as I would love a top o' the line component system, I'm pretty muched tapped with the hu, 15's, amps & everything that went with it.…

im running two idq12"s svc 2ohm sealed(1.8 cubic) powered by one xtant 1000/1. the subs are very responsive but tend to lack low end. i listen to mainly metal-tool,korn,slayer. some of their stuff has low thump that my subs are not picking up. these subs are in the back of S-10 ext. cab-the box sealed has the subs facing up toward the roof. i dont have room to run booth subs ported-any other types of box designs or eq settings i should consider? polyfill? i used to run 2 10" mtx 8000 in a downfire box for that truck and i got more lowend and louder bass from that set-up than my current system

This post goes along with the one I asked about in the Amplifier forum..... I've never heard of them, but the product looks beefy enough. And, for what my costs might be, I'm wondering if they would be worth taking a chance on dropping some coin on. Massive QC15 I'd really like to try THIS monster out...... SQX 15

So I haven't had a sub in almost 4 years, I've been running a factory stereo in my expedition (mach) for over a year and the factory 8 finally gave out. So now it's time to put a little something together. I have the expedition with 3rd row seating removed, so I have space for whatever I decide to do. I've been going back and forth between a sundown e12 for $80 or a SQ HDS200 15 for what SSA sells them, $115. I don't plan to compete, just get a little bass again. It won't be played a whole lot as I have a 1 year old who rides in my truck. That being said, when I am alone it will be played rather hard. I'm afraid the 12 won't be enough for a large SUV since I was use to an…

so while i was looking at how much RE componets would cost i found a site that offers RE speakers. 6x9" 6" 6.5". so my question is would the RE speakers keep up better with 4 15" ssds then the kappas would? would be using the zxi-6410 to power them. the kappas i was looking at would be the 6"x9" 3 way, 6-1/2" 3-way, 5-1/4" 2-way. (one pair of each) if i decide to go with RE it would be the RE Audio (Resonant Engineering) RE 6x9 FR 6"x9" Full-Range Speakers looks like a 3way, 6" 2 way, 6.5" 2 way. (one pair of each) the price seems to be low compared to the kappa's but i know RE has a great name with audio. i was going to order the speakers at the end of the month. s…

Hmmmm, i want to get the most of my system. I love the really really deep ground shaking bass. My current set up is 2 Magnum D2 12s running off a Tsunami 1800T. My enclosure is a lil bit more than 2 cu ft each and its tuned @ around 29-30hz. It gives me lots of the ground shaking bass i love, but i thought i would be hitting higher numbers than what im hitting. Last time i had a chance with a mic i hit 142.3 I thought that was really good, because i was thinking it was the termlab. It was actually an AC. I just found that out. Now im disappointed. I see many people on the boards who have a similar set up, but are hitting way higher numbers. I just finished a competiti…

I've heard a few subs make a funky sound when more power is applied to them that just doesn't sound like the bass the artist put in the song. On low volumes its fine. On higher volumes It sounds like the sub is puking. I hate that sound and i turn the bass down to when its gone. I've heard it mostly on punchy bass, long drawn out bass is usually fine. What causes this, is it when a sub exceeds its xmax or is that overrated in knowing what the sub sounds like as well? That's my only guess. I haven't heard lots of different subs but all the ones i heard did it.

OK, I was looking at the RE XXX's (newer version), and the Fi BL's. I listen to mostly metal but I do like everything else too. They're going into a Tahoe, so size isn't an issue. I'd like to do 2 12's. I'm looking to get as loud as possible but not sound like total azzz. Powering them would be 2 saz-1500d's or 2 saz-2000d's depending on sub selection. I'm not stuck to those two brands, any input in any direction would be great. Price also isn't much of an issue. Willing to spend as much as $2000 for the subs.

Sup.. I haven't posted on here in ages because I took an lil break from car audio for an while, but with every other hobby you get that itch again and get tired of not having bass in your vehicle. I'm in a lil dilemma here. I can't make up my mind on choosing on what subwoofers I should go with. I really want 2 10" because I've never ran 2 10s before. Only 12's, that's only what I have room for seeing that my trunk is really not that big..Here's what im aiming for. 2 10" ssa dcon 2 10" sa-10 or 1 12" sa 12 2 10" sdc2.5 1 12" hdc312 copper coil Also on each particular setup, what would be the suitable amplifier is recommended and I'm going to be build my own ported bo…
