Well...Yesterday I decided to stop being lazy and shove it all in the car...Everything is wired up and playing except the 8's in the doors.... After 3 hours of listening...here are my thoughts on some things.... Max Fidelity Tweets If anyone is looking to do a DIY setup, I'd STRONGLY recommend these. They are a small format (4 OHM!) neo tweet that is swivel mounted for adjust staging/aiming. I've had to tweak the driver side just a tad to bring the stage up, but that is because the driver's legs/steering wheel prohibit this. These things are are smack dab in the middle between a "laid back" silk tweet and a cut your ears off "bright" tweet. Excellent detail from …

So i'm trying to find a good component set for my 2004 explorer. The stock speakers are 6X8's. when it comes to components speakers, i don't really know much of anything. i need 2 sets, (4 speakers together) and my price range is near $150 a set. (perferablly lower, of course ) i was looking at the Infinity Kappa's 680.9's. anyone have any experience with these or other Kappa components? I got a 18" btl and a saz3000d, so i really need to get rid of the stock speakers. no rush though, i still have to buy an Iraggi Alternator and a Kinetik for the car before i start on components. (but they should come quick, im selling alot of stuff on craigslist) I'm looking mainl…

Is a JL 500/1 be enough power to really pound my mag 15'' D2? Also is there any other amps with comparable features/sq as the 500/1 for a less price and maybe a few more watts? I really like the 500/1 and have got many positive reviews. Does anyone have a birthsheet on one of these puppies?

I just bought a ssa xcon 15" dual 2ohm, it will be arriving in about a week or so. So I would like to know the best setup and design for my enclosure, I have already played a lot with WinISD and I have come to the conclusion that a enclosure of 4 cubic feet tuned to 29hz would be best. But does box shape affect the sound at all? Also are slot ports the best port for good deep bass? I already know having my sub pointed to the rear has the best sound response in my station wagon, and cadillac alike. And to add I would like the height for my enclosure that is going to be pointed to the rear to be only 16" is this a good idea. any suggestions?

  7. I know there is probably no definitive answer, but I wanted to know where to start. I decided on a sealed box for new Mag 15 on the way to me. I figured 2.6 cubes and 2.45 after displacement. I want to know how many pounds to start with. I am looking for about the same output as my ported 12, with a flatter response. I know the site recommends 2.3. Is my box too big? Os there a way to get a little more output from a sealed box without losing a whole lot of SQ. This is my first sealed that I have had in this car. It will be getting around 1100 watts. I listen to about everything.

Don't post much here but I thought I would share my setup. I have my 2 SPL 12's in a 4th order bandpass in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. 1.3 cubes per sub on the rear chamber and the front chamber is 7.5 cubes tuned to 55 hz. I need to do some bracing or add a couple more layers but I couldn't wait to give it a listen. They are wired to .5 ohms on my American Bass XD1800 which does 2400 at .5 Since I'm not interested in sq, this setup is right up my ally. these things totally hammer and they aren't even close to getting RMS. They run out of steam around 30 hz (small sealed section) and the enclosure gives a huge peak at 40-50 hz. So far this is my favorite setup. They a…

Been looking through all the specs for the three. Well what specs their are for the Xcon. They all seem to be about equal in most aspects. What I'm looking for is a sub that can handle my Sundown 1500d daily, sounds good, will get loud when asked. Looking at the 12" or 15" models due to hight limitations in my car. Have up 3cft to work with. If you can think of another sub that will fit the bill throw it in the mix. This is for a 2005 Focus hatchback. I have a Kinetic 1800 under the hood with the big 3 done, 1/0 to the back and a second 1800. Sundown 1500d, 125.2, and 50.4. TC Sounds RMB65s in the doors, Cadence dome mids and Vifa xt25 in a-pillar pods. Head is a Pioneer …

I was helping my friend out today wire 2 12" jls and we got everything setup and things were hunky dory. We took them from his old car, built a new box and tossed them in his new car. We powered it on (using multimeters to measure gains and SSF beforehand) and we started playing some tunes. All is well but I go to turn the volume down low to where the sub is barley playing and I noticed some scratching noise. I went back and pushed on the magnet (power off of course) and no scratching, no huge resistances... about the same as my 15. We took out the subs and they look fine. No bent coils (as far as I can tell), nothing is stuck, no burning...I took a quick peak at the term…

Just bought a NIB Death Row, going to power it woth a Skar 1500. It is the 'old'(last year. I guess you would say) 1000w version. I am sure like most IA stuff these subs are conservatively rated, and it is a 'music' build. i shouldn't have to worry too much about overpowering right? I only ask cuz this is going to be my 15yo's truck next yr. I am teaching him how to use his senses(hearing/smell, and common) to not overdrive the gear, but he is a teenager.LOL On a side note- It is funny that when visually comparing to my Xcon- they are so close in all deminsions(which I realized has little to do with power handling), yet the X is rated for almost double.

I was recently asked to do a recone on an mt 12. No problem, got the old softparts out and when I put the new softparts, the surround doesn't touch the landing on the basket. The spider is seated nicely, yet the surround needs to go down almost 1/2". The new softparts on the motor : Old softparts vs new The recone was bought from the local RE dealer and he also is confused by the spider / surround spacing. I don't think pressing the surround down is a good idea because it will limit up-travel. What are my options now ? Except for getting another recone....

Ok so I want to buy a sub but I dont know what to get. So I was hoping you guys could steer me in the right direction. Every time that I bought a sub I went to the store and listened to it and if I liked it I bought it. Now, I am most likely going to buy it online. So my question here is what am I looking at/for when I shop onlie for a sub? Here is kind of what I am looking for: Either a 12" or 15" (ill take suggestions for both) 1500 wrms in a sealed box. Please dont just say "Go with these cuz they are effin awesome!". Tell me why they are effin awesome. I need to have an educated decision because my truck is literary being built around the sub. Thanks in advance! P.S.…

kudo's go out to these two gentlemen as they have been really helpful the last couple of days regarding my decision on what subs to put in my wife's car.(which has changed, and i believe it will be a single twelve ) it will either be a tcsounds sub(probably the tc2+12.2) or a soundsplinters premium (based on the tc9) 12. both have answered emails promptly and anwered any and all questions thourghly. when u go looking for ur next sub...make sure u look into tcsounds(look at audiohole.com as that is where they sell their overstock or be prepared to buy 50 subs..lol :thud: ) and soundsplinters.com...u won't be disappointed! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
