Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

I disconnected my speakers and was listening to my sub by itself and I noticed that I could slightly hear some words. Everything sounds good and you cant hear it when the speakers are connected so I was wondering if this is normal. Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Hoping to get the powerbass 15 inch sub and power it with an audiopipe apsm 1300. As you can tell it's a budget bass project. but are there any better options for the same price or less? Or does anyone have any come tsunami about the amp or subwoofer? Any experience with this equipment?

  3. Ok so right now I have 2 12s underneath the seat in my 03 ext cab silverado. It bumps pretty damn good. The amp is a RF power800a2 and the 2 subs are mixed 1 is a 4-5yr old RF punch HX2 and the other is a 1yr old eclipse sw7200. Im wanting to switch out to something else. Ive been looking at the FIs and the REs. Itll have to be a sealed box since Im limited to space. What do you guys suggest I get? Should it be one of those 2 or something else? I do later on planning on upgrading the amp to something that puts out about 600-700w rms to each channel The other 2 subs I was thinking of were maybe some RF T1s or kicker L7s

I just sold my BTL and Kicker amp and ordered an SAE-1200d and 2 SA-12's and I still have a bunch of money left over plus I get paid soon so what do you guys reccomend? I want good mid-bass and very clear sound to go with it. I will be ordering a SAX 50.4 to power them. Budget no more than 300.

My birthday is in July and I'm trying to decide what to do with the money I get (yes, I'm 30 years old and still get money ). I do know that I want to upgrade sub/subs, but I'm not quite sure which way to go. Budget will be between $200-$250. Not sure if I could swing $300, but it's a possibility. I've got 600 @ 2 ohms to work with. The main thing is I'd like to keep the box size down as much as possible. I don't want to go over 2 cubes total, and even that's pushing it. So, I'm thinking either 2 8's or 10's in a small sealed box, or a single 10" or 12" ported. I'd love to try a 15" since I've never run one before, but I don't want to choke it down into too small…

I just had two of the DD1508 subs installed in my trunk and am absolutely amazed at what they are putting out. These frigging subs pound and sound like (2) 12's. has anyone else had the pleasure of running these same subs and if so any comments on the way they performed?

  7. For general purposes- is 3 10s in their largest recommended ported box going to be "potentially" louder than 2 12s in their smallest recommended ported box? Power comparison- 10s would receive maximum recommended rms, 12s would receive double recommended but small box would control movement better. I've kinda asked this question many different ways but i am now in a hurry and need to know from u guys who have had experience with just enough volume and just right volume and so on... I am leaning towards the 3 10s just because i fear a just enough volume for 12s would lack low bass even if power is doubled.... It's my opinion so i am looking for facts before i place the wro…

I have an AQHDC315 d1. wired to a AQ 1200.1 at 0.5 ohms. I am thinking about getting a second 1200.1 and bridging them. The question is will making this upgrade be significantly louder to the ear. I know its hard to say because it always depends on box, setup, installation, etc. but I am just trying to get an idea.

  10. alright, just got a new car (96 accord LX coupe), and I am putting most of what I already got as far as equipment goes into it, but need a new sub. right now I have my DEH-P600UB in my rocky with the rear channels of my 475a powering a really cheap audiobahn (AW1051 I think) that I found from a long time ago in a sealed box thats around 2 ft^3. its wired to 8 ohms so there is only about 90 watts going to the sub now, and its not crazy or anything but it is (was) a decent amount of bass for what it was. anyways I started hearing it make a horrible sound at higher volumes, the surround is actually torn about 1/5 the way around now. I am planning on using the same amp but ge…

So I just ordered a couple IDMAX 12's. I had heard your not supposed to give them the whole 1000rms each. So my question is how much do the like? Im thinking of throwing them on a Sundown SAZ 1500 @1ohm. Im guessing about 750rms a piece. Would that be pushing it or should I be fine? Also I was wondering if anyone here has experience with these subs and how do you like them? Have you hit good term lab numbers with them? I know they are SQ subs but i know they can get loud too.

I currently have an Alpine type r 15 on a kicker zx750.1. I have it in a 3.75ft net box tuned to 35 hz and it gets pretty loud and sounds decent. My choices of a new sub were a SSA Icon 15, FI SSD 15, and an AA Choas 15. The new sub would go into the same old box but now run off a T1000-1bdcp. I want to know which sub would sound better off my amp. I want it to be louder than my type R and sound good as well.

  15. First im going to do the 6.5's then the Assasin's. Well, Got them installed yesterday. I must say in short, well worth the money. I bought these 6.5" Co-Axil's as a stand in for a pair of Type-R 6.5"-Axil's. I've heard the Type R's before but these where tons cheaper. Deciding that even if they didnt sound as clear my GF wouldnt notice a difference, she just wants music and her mom and I just want to save money (we are cheap, I know). I purchased the pair from flakko. They where about $55, dont know what the real cost/shipping was since they where also purchased with a USamps IS2080. No the USamps wasnt used for the review, yes i know it would have been better but i…

I dont know what to do with thei TC e12a. I had planned to have it reconed to an 18 with SX soft parts but its so sexy. i dunno. But its broken everywhere i read these things hit so loud and so clean, some say there isnt another driver made to date with the same clarity, which makes since since a flat piston is optional. But, i go back to the fact that the basket is broken. This would be alot easier if it was an eclipse. if only somehow i could save the coil or have an exact one remade, have a custom 18" cone made and have it all put togather. GRRR. Opinions? How many of these e12a's are floating around that arent blown....or can you still get these reconed somehow?

I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for my summer build. I want to try a multiple sub setup (3 or 4) just because I've never had more than two subs before. Anyway, I found this simple calculator: http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=26 When I put in the parameters for the subs I'm looking at, I use the suggested Qtc of 0.707. With every sub I've tried, this gives me an enclosure volume a little larger than I'd like to use. I noticed in the "note" that you can use a Qtc of 0.9-1.2. When doing this, it brings the enclosure size down significantly. My question is, what are the drawbacks and advantages of not using the suggested Qtc of 0.707?

Hey all, I'm new here, was wondering if i could get some friendly advice. Im lookin at getting my first system in a few weeks for my '01 taurus, and i cant decide whether to get the type r 12 or a fi q 15...i know it would be a big difference...but i dont know if the Q would be an overkill and more bass than i want, not to mention take up way more of my trunk ..i can get the Q from a guy on caraudio.com for 240 shipped...or the R for like 130 from sonicelectronix.com, should i spend the extra $110? would probably be giving either around 1000w..any advice/sugestions?

Want to run SIX in my Tahoe, looking to maximize space. Two in each quarter panel, and two in a center console between the front seats. Whatcha recommend? And looking for an amp that will run @ .67ohms all day long, about 1500 watts RMS. If I run dual 4ohm coils (or single 2ohm), I'd need (2) amps to push them.
