I was thinking a Fi Q or SSA Icon. Thoughts?

hi, i am helping a freind put together a low wattage system( under 1k) and he wants to use jl subs and is thinking of using to 2 13w3v3 off of a sae1000d ( my idea) and it is going in a 240sx and the box will be 2.25 f^3(per sub) tuned to 30hz. and i am wondering what are other people opinion on the 13w3v3 ( i already tried to have him get the w6 but he does not want to spend 300 per sub.) and he is going for LSQ

I'm looking for good sq for under $300 shipped, i have a sound stream reference 500sx will be in a 89 golf gti. Considering Audiopulse Epic, JLaudio 10w3, Image Dynamics IDQ10v3, or a Sound Splinter RL-i 10 will be runned @2ohm. I now have a 8" old school boston acoustics sub mounted in a bazooka, planing to build a sealed enclosure, what type of enclosure would be best suited for a hatchback.

Right now my box is set up with sub and port firing to the rear. I am considering cutting a hole in the top for the sub and plugging the rear hole to see what it does to the sound while keeping same box size and tuning. Due to box dimensions, the only way to do it would put the sub right at the port opening in the box. It's a typical slot port so it won't be blocking the port. I remember reading somewhere that it's not ideal to have the sub close to the port if you can help it. How big of a deal is it and how much would it affect what I am trying to do? Depending on what the sound difference is will be deciding on how I build my next box.

Power, space, and budget aside, for loudness, should i get one 15, or 2 12s? what would hit harder?

So I have a JL Audio 10W3v3-2 and it was making a weird scratching noise. Completely random, would happen at any volume and would come and go with no real reason, sometimes it wouldn't do it for days, sometimes it would happen many times a day. I took it out of the box looking for some explanation and could see nothing, so it cut it open. The only thing that looked a little off was what looked like some corrosion on the coil itself. So now I have the motor and basket just laying around and it seems a shame to just toss it. Does anyone make a recone other than JL that will work??

Got a friend with an extended cab s-10. He just bought, for a mere 40 dollars, the box(two chambers in one box at about 1.25 cubes a piece), an MTX thunder 6000 12" 8 ohm and a Sony Xplod 1200w 12" 4ohm. He wants SPL and I'm suggesting that he cut out the center divider, build a new front board that has only one 12" hole, and port it. It'd be roughly 2.5 cubes without the displacement of the port and sub. The amp will most likely be something cheap like a Crunch 1200.2. Another problem is that one sub is 8 ohm, and the other 4 ohms...not good?

I drive an Eddie Bauer Explorer and just recently added a 12" Icon and Sundown 1000D to it. It had the Mach Audio system in it already. Well with the added bass, the speakers just can't keep up. They were fine with the factory 8" sub but are too weak now. Here's the thing, since it had the premium sound, I can fit 6x8s in my front and rear doors. I listen to mostly metal and rock with a little bit of rap. I'd say like 80/20 rock vs rap. Should I put 6x8s in the doors for extra midbass or should I just use 6.5s? Also, Ill be staying passive on these as SQ isnt a huge priority. Just trying to get more volume on the treble side.

well my subwoofer fund for a 15 went up to the 300-350 range cuz i dont wana be dissapointed, and i was wanting to know which would sound better and still have mad bass between the aq hdc3 and the fi bl ran off a hifonics 1600d? in a box at 4cubes and hopefully 32hz if not 30hz. and input will be greatly appreciated thnx in advance ~Bill

Next I want to replace my current speakers, they aren't the best. I am trying to keep my budget around $600-700. I went to the local Car Phonics and they suggested this setup, and quoted me $692 (including install). Does anyone know anything about these brands ? FOCAL 690-CV1 6x9's or the Mmats CX 69 ? will they be better than my Memphis Mseries 6x9's

if i remember right theses mids were designed more for IB than anything, like being used in the door rather than in a small kick panel? i had them for about a year till i recently got some hsk's. but anyway, mine are sitting around so im making some book shelf or small towers out of them for my friends new place. how big of an enclosure would suite it? or i could just port it then tune somewhere above the fs of the mid. if ported whats a general tuning? never built ported book shelfs so whats the deal?

Hi, I'm going to build a new system in the next month or so and at the moment this is what I'm looking at getting. 1 Fi BTL 12" or 15" MB Quart 1500 watt amp (I'll add more power when I upgrade my electrical further) However, I found a 15" Ascendant Audio Chaos on craigslist for $220 with a 4 cubic ft. enclosure. The guy says its in good condition and has only been running on 500wrms. I don't know anything about the AA line of subs. Which Fi sub would it compare to? okay i will be getting everything that's in my room installed either today or tomorrow depending on the shop's availiability. but i would really like to know how to stuff my box with polyfil. i went to wal-mart and found that they come in pillow shapes like 12 x 8 or somethin and they are different sizes. now am i supposed to just buy a couple of those and cut them open and dump what's inside into my box or what? i have a 2.3 cubes sealed box after displacement. how many of these things should i buy? now this question should probably be somewhere else but hey i'm using stereo integrity products so i thought i'd just get all the help i can at once. since i will be getting…

Dont know much about the RE SX, XXX or the MT 12 subwoofer, just saying how how they compare to the Kicker L7 12 or the Soundstream T4 12? Do they need a ported box or a sealed box? About how much each one run in price have $1200 for the box, subs and amp?

I am looking for a pair of 12" subs to be powered by a pair of ma audio hk802sx amps. 1 sub per amp. Years ago i did the same thing with two boss pd4000s and two power acoustik mofo 12" subs. It was a very loud setup and i am trying to beat that intense feeling that setup gave me. My money has grown up so i have better amp and sub options now. I am debating about getting another sa 15 and building a new box, or just sell the sa 15 and put the money to a new zv.3 15. The box i currently have is 4.1cubic ft tuned to 32hz. My amp is an american bass ph4000md. I would just like other input from others to help make my decision.

i was told today that DLS stuff really went downhill the last few years. way back when, they had the support of Morel makin thier speaks, and genesis makin the amps. when DLS decided to cut costs a little, they went to china and showed them chinos the design of thier stuff, and the chinese copied it. When Morel and Genesis heard what was goin on, them 2 companies cut thier production for DLS. so like 02-03 on, DLS's equipment isnt really as good quality. Is this true?

Ok, so I am finally ready to order my midbass and my tweeters. They will be powered by either a JBL 75.4 (100X4) or a Sundown Audio 100.4 (100X4), and run active by an Alpine 9815. I have narrowed it down to five choices I just need to make sure they will mesh well together and I am open to any other options in my price range. Option 1: Alpine Type X (ditch the Xover) Option 2: Pioneer TS-720PRS (ditch the Xover) Option 3: Seas 27TFFNC and a Seas CA18RNX Option 4: Peerless exclusives With the Seas 27TFFNC Option 5: Mach5 MLI-65 with an undetermined tweeter. My budget is $300 for mids and tweets. the lower the better but I will spend $300 max, not including shipping.

I am more of an SQ guy, but now I have my D2's I am curious. My set-up is all about SQ, I don't really have the amps to spit out SPL figures, but to those that have or know of, what sort of SPL are we talking about with a set of either 12's or 15's,, I mean has anybody burnt a set yet while spanking them.. and how hard were they been spanked..
