ok so here's the deal i bought a treo ssx motor and 18 inch backet. it's blown. has anyone reconed an ssx with a different cone?? i'm looking into tc sounds cone right now (i already have it sourced and kind of priced, just need to measure and make sure it will fit) can anyone help me out? oh and the reason i don't want to send it to treo is it will cost $188 for them to do it plus shipping to them, and it's not exactly a light sub if you know what i mean

I am sure you guys get tired of answering these questions, but since I am a complete newbie when it comes to car audio, I would like some advice from experienced audio enthusiasts like yourselves. My system is going to be more SQ based than SPL, reason is I listen to as much, if not more, rock/alternative music than rap. I was leaning towards either 1 12", 1 10", or 2 10" subs. I want something that hits accurately and enhances my rock music, but will also sound good when I decide to play rap. I like the idea of 1 10/12" right now, because I am going to get a custom box fitted for my IS300 behind the driver side wheel-well (I don't want to sacrifice trunk space right …

Title says pretty much everything. What would produce the best sound given enough power is present. I have heard that more low xmax drivers will produce less distortion, any truth to that?

Well I was talking to the guys in the hop and wondering what would be a wonderful 2-way active setup. If I get this 4 channel JBL GTO75.4 to go with my jbl 1100.1 that is. If you don't know, the ratings are here http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/JBL_GTO75.4/ Now, budget is the next question. If everything goes to plan meaning if I sell both my passive comp sets and throw in some money I'll have around 370 or 420 for new speakers. Sean brings a good point though, does this include dampening? Well, I already have a layer(and some spots 2 layers) on both outer parts of the metal. The inside only has a little bit, it could probably use more honestly. My back wall has…

My cousin is telling me of some subs he is trying to get rid of. He dosent have any pictures of them but all he says is that they are competition subs and they have a red C on the cone. Now whether or not they are competition is totally speculation. But I just wanted to know which sub company uses a red "C" for their logo on subs? Thanks in advance ~MadroX

Man....I took my wall out in Oct.... Lookin at the MJ18's makes me think about putting it back in and switching to a pair of 18's just from a cost standpoint....and low power stance....makes me think seriously about it... Wonder what I could make happen with a pair...hmm....i guess i'd have to use 4 just to get a halfway decent ohm load though.... wow..............you killing me.

My friend wanted to know which is better. I have two Memphis Pr's layin around somewhere and he has some Kenwood Typhoon 12's in his truck. Both in sealed application. The Typhoons are running off some crappy Phoenix Digital 1000w amp. I doubt if the amp even puts out 400w. anyway and I have an Orion 600D (I think thats the model) for the Memphis' and also for my own personal TS-W306's. The amps are somewhat Irrelevant for this question as I'm just trying to figure out the following things for him. 1. Which subs hit harder? 2. Which Get louder? 3. Which are More Efficient? 4. Would they sound better in my car ('96 Taurus) or his truck ('86 Chevy Pickup)? Well come to thin…

I need help. Im looking for 60% SQ 40% SPL. I want it to get loud but still sound good. Which is better for this. I was looking at a cadence txa-1000d and a sundown sae-1000d amp. From what i have read most people pick sundown hands down. Would ~650 watts push a soundsplinter hard because it says 500-1000k rms on the website. I'm open to suggestions on amps. I'm just trying to figure out which is a better sq sub at the moment. And this would probably go in a ported box ~1.5 cubes @ low 30's.

Current set up is as follows: 2 AA Poly mids mounted in each door. WELL deadened. 80-2500Hz Vifa XT25 mounted about 12" above mids. HP around 2800Hz Xovers done via a Helix amp. I'm very happy with how it sounds, but you know how the upgrade bug is. I'm considering going 3 way with a dedicated midbass to replace one of the poly mids. Something like this: Peerless SLS 8" 60-250Hz Poly mid 250-2500Hz Vifa 2800+ I would also need to get an electronic xover and am not sure what yet as I haven't researched them. I'm looking for more punch/kick up front, mostly for 80's rock/metal, so lots of kick drums. But I don't want to lose the incredible midrange output for guitars, etc…

Hello: I would greatly appreciate any input on securing or mounting my sub box to the rear trunk of my car (Mazda 3 Sedan). I found some references to using Velcro, L brackets etc., to secure the box to the trunk. Any other ideas or sugestions? Thank You! TSS

What do u recommend for SQ??? Will be in a sealed box with 7" max depth mount... Net vol. too factory rec.. Up firing under the back seat of my ext cab sierra.. I do NOT have a amp yet but would like to stick with any of the sundown amps... Like to keep it around or under $300 for one or two subs which ever sounds better. Using CDT EF-61i with a sundown sax-100.2 in front... Was looking at two ss rli-10's and the sundown sae-100d but that might be more than I need... Also looking at the Sundown SAX-100.2and two SD-1 10's... I read its got killer sq... I just looking for clean musical bass to fill out the music not to drown anything out and not boomy.. Listen to all type…

I am planning on working on my front stage to get ready for my system how does a $1000 budget sound for 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, amp wiring, head unit, and maybe even crossovers I may be able to pull a couple hundred more dollars but if this budget sounds too low then what am I looking at paying. I am hoping on saving money by just buying a good amp at a low price so what kind of amp would be good at about 60 watts x 6 at 4 ohms. I was looking at Boston components but only crutch field carries them and they dont have that great of a selection of them so what other brand is good I don't need attached tweeters I have a place for them on the doors.
