Ah well, it happens. It feels louder to me, but then again, I'm about 3 feet away from the meter, and it only said 143db... Also the ports were aimed up instead of backwards, so that definetely has something to do with it. In any case, the subs are out of the car... I dunno if they'll be going back in anytime soon, but maybe. In the meantime, I'm enjoying having my handling back, the car is so much more tossable now Also installed a pair of MLI-65's in the rear deck of my friends 99 accord 4dr, running as subs. Will make a thread on that in the future. Quick summary: Good bass. Actually scratch that, make that pretty darn good bass. Untouchable for $20 a pop.

  3. right now i have a single 15 BTL, loaded, running off of a ma audio hk4000d. im thinking of getting a second sub and amp. i recall reading on here some kind of "formula" for the dB gain by doubling the woofer area and doubling the power, but i cant recall what the numbers were. theoretically, how many dB's can i gain by adding a second 15 and second hk4000d?

Wow it's been such a long time since I was here.. Anyway, I had an account here called Pandy IIRC, but for some odd reason it seems to be gone.. Not a problem lol. I opened another Anyways, I bought an MJ 18 from Mark last October (right as my wife left me) and I have been adding stuff to the car since. Just thought I would stop in and say hi and say how the woofer gets better every week, Ill be back within a week or so with new pics of the car (I have spent the last few months customising it) and you wont recognise it ! Til then be safe ! Pandy

I haven't bought this sub yet but, i do plan on buying a 15" mag and plan on having a JL 500/1 feeding it. I really don't want to go over $1,000 and still have a bad ass system. I might even save up for the JL 1000/1 but its a bit more than i want to spend. I am shooting for SQ and still want low's. I'm guessing 3^3 seal box will have slightly better lows than 2.5^3? This install is going into a Crown Victoria 89'. So i got plenty of trunk space to deal with. Also curious how loud this speaker would get with just a JL 500/1 feeding it instead of having a JL 1000/1.

  6. I know there is probably no definitive answer, but I wanted to know where to start. I decided on a sealed box for new Mag 15 on the way to me. I figured 2.6 cubes and 2.45 after displacement. I want to know how many pounds to start with. I am looking for about the same output as my ported 12, with a flatter response. I know the site recommends 2.3. Is my box too big? Os there a way to get a little more output from a sealed box without losing a whole lot of SQ. This is my first sealed that I have had in this car. It will be getting around 1100 watts. I listen to about everything.

I apologize in advance - you are dealing with a noob. I think I want to do a sealed 15" in my new car, but I am having trouble deciding which way to go. I have been looking at the Fi Q and the SI Mag. Is the SI really worth the extra 200? Would you recommend anything else? Perhaps maybe even a 12" to go ported with? I am not looking to make major alterations to my electrical just yet either (read HO alt), so I'd like to keep the power handling in the 1000W range. I'm looking for a true LSQ system - I want it to be clean, but get LOUD when I want it. I have about 3 cubes to work with, maybe more if I want to give up some of that golf bag space in the trunk, but I'd like to…

Well, finally got the two Mach 5 15's in my 98 F150 ext cab today. They are in 6cuft tuned at 30 hz. First off, the woofers are just plain sexy. So simple, not over the top, and solid. After I got them installed I played a few bass test tracks and couldn't believe how clean they were... Now i've never owned a super expensive sq woofer by anymeans, but these compared to my 12 w3s from a little while back blow them away in the sq department. As for the myth of no sq with ported, throw that out the window with this woofer. It is a litte boomy at some notes, but not enough to distract, just enough to notice if you are looking for it. Now, as for being loud.. they can do that …

What do you look for in an SQ sub? What t/s parameters and such makes a geat SQ sub. Now I know that SQ is subjective, but most companies make an SQ geared sub. As a buyer, what should we look for in this type of sub?

as the title states. i like how the xxx sounds, it gets loud, but im thinkin...maybe a 12" mt on 2500w....behind the seats, i can get like 2.7 cubes ported, should be enough for 1 12" mt right? and weight, the 05xxx is like maybe what, 10 lbs less than a 12" mt? i know the xxx has better SQ, etc. but i would probably like either one, i like just straight up loud bass. heres the xxx on a power acoutik a2400db

  14. Hello guys new here and I am looking to replace my JL 12W7 with a 15" Mag. I am running the 12W7 with a JL 1000/1 in a tuned enclosure(custom build to 32Hz). I am looking to increase SPL and by moving to a larger sub(Mag) using the same 1000wrms. I am pretty sure this Mag will outperform my 12w7 what do you guys think? Could you guys reccomend optimum enclosure sizes for my Dodge Magnum. I am looking to maintain SQ as the 12w7 did a good job in that sence. I am willing to give up as much room as needed in the trunk for the enclosure. I will take the reccomended specs to a pro box builder for fabrication. all input is greatly appreciated. D

I'm in the final planning for the enclosure I am having built inside the trunk of my Camry for 2 15" Mags. I haven't decided exactly what to do with the ports though so I need some advice. First off, I have 9.3 cubes gross to work with. The base model I am working with is 29hz tuning with 93"port area, 34" length and 7 cubes net for the Mags. But playing around with WinISD I have found a couple other things that work as well. For example, 29hz with 93" port but 7.4 cubes and only 32" port. Or, 30hz with 101" area and 34" length with 7 cubes net. My goal is powerful low-end and of course SQ. I might compete casually with this but I would really like to get good num…

Hey everyone, I'm planning on starting my build on my wife's car throughout the summer and want to build a SQ system in her car. This is what I have to work with. I'm skilled in carpentry and know a bit a bout fiberglassing. I'll try and post some pics later to get a visual about the build. FRONT 3-4" front speakers deep into the windshiled (you know the kind) 6.5" door pod openings There is room for a tweet mount above the 6.5". Rear Door 6.5" door pod opening. I could also find a stealthy place for a tweet here also. Rear Deck 6x9" opening I was thinking of installing AA POLY's in the 6.5 openings in the front and rear doors. As far a tweeters, I'm open to suggestions. …

Whats the recomended sealed enclosure for an mli-65 for HT use, how about ported? Id like to make some kind of towers using 3 or 4 of these and a large format tweet, any ideas on that? How much power do they like per mli-65 for HT use? Any suggestions about this idea.

I just bought some Kicker 1/0 gauge power wire kit and I'm having a difficult time figuring out how exactly I'm supposed to get the thick 1/0 wire into the ANL Fuse holder(which came included with the Kicker amp kit by the way). Here are some pictures to show you exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance. I'll check back real soon as I would like to continue the install tomorrow if time permits. Ps. How do I post up an image. It will only let me link an url.
