  1. So, is diffraction an issue in car audio as well? I'm thinking both of front systems and sub boxes in particular.

  2. Hey I have 2 old style first generation audiobahn immortal 15s im looking to rebuild. Does anyone know of any specs that could help? Such as voice coil and spider size, who originally designed motor or what soft parts are compatible etc. I was told that a sundown nightshade drop-in would work but i would like advice and honest opinion from a knowledgeable subwoofer builder. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks

So, I had a little whoopsie the other day when my tweet fell off and hit my brand new ID 6.5" woofer, putting a very fine crack in the dustcap. It's only about an inch long, and it's a clean split... you hardly even notice it's there. What would somebody recommend I put on this to keep it from getting worse? It's not a gaping hole or anything it's hair-thin... thanks!

well once again my XXX isnt happy, it made its little popping noise again. well i was driving home listening to it on 18/40 and thought i heard it stop for a sec and start backwell song pauses in bass lines any way but it quit and kicked back on i think so i lowered it down to abou 11/40, 5 mins later it poped again , it isnt really loud now like it was a few weeks back when it popped, but i assumed it was a voltage problem then, but it wasnt even up loud now i was using a zen micro mp3 player and a fm transmitter because my adapter for rca is setting in front seat waiting for me to put it in, so it isnt as loud as it can be, now here are some things that could be wrong..…

I have a modded mojo 2500D on the way and I'm very interested in these subs. On paper they seem to be exactly what I want. If I get two the amp will be ran @ 0.5ohm with somewhere around 1700w per sub. I can only afford one for now so I will probably run it at 4 ohm. Could a single Havoc handle 3kw if I wired it at 1ohm? On a side note, I see alot of vented boxes with the port at one end and the sub(s) at the other end. I usually place the port between the subs in a dual sub setup. Is there any gain from porting at the end of a box?

been digging in on the system some and have discovered the original plans of the sls 8" isnt going to work just due to the sheer diameter. Need some recomendations on a badass 7" midbass driver to be mounted IB in the front doors with a max depth of 4". These will be running active with Seas W12CY-001 4.5's and Seas 27TFFNC/G tweets mounted in kick pods. looking in the area of 200-250 per driver to be the high end. Front stage is to be powered off 2 Sundown 100.4's to allow for flexibility of more power to the 7's by bridging the one running them for more output if needed. Thanks in Advance

I got a American bass hd2500 I was thinking of picking up a gcon and running it at 2 ohms I've got a custom built box here at 2.3 cu ft air space and tuned to 33hz will it be enough box or would it be better to get the icon.

Hey, I was wondering what the cones are made of? It looks like a pulp paper cone? If so, I take it they are holding up ok? Was it picked because of the light weight? Also wondering how I would wire 2-12's if I decide to go with them. I have a memphis mc1000d and wiring it to 1ohm gives you about 1100 w. So with 2 ohm d.v.c. I can only get 2 ohm and .5 ohm right? Does anyone know what the actual resistance is for the d2's wiring to .5 ohm. Like does it actually read .8 or like .3? curious because all the subs I have had never read exactly the correct ohm load. I don't want to have to buy a new amp to go with the mags. thanks.

Hey guys, I was planning on getting the Oxygen audio Air-83 3-way component speakers.I liked the fact that they included a large mid-bass woofer, another decent sized mid-range and a tweeter all in one. Also, I liked how they were a component set because i do not know enough yet to run an active system. But the problem is that I waited too long and now amazon don't have them in stock. Does anyone know a comparable set? Like i said before, I'd like a large mid-bass and mid-range, component set with a passive crossover, and i would prefer not to pay through the nose to get them. Thanks guys!

I was just doing more research on boxes and whatnot and came across Heath and his . Anyway, what is up with his dustcap? Is that what it looks like before / after you blow it off? I know that's a prototype and its not officially released "yet".

  20. well I got a new job doing 12V at a local shop, Nick you know it, Freemans at the lake, so I am going to use that to get my install finished. I had a pretty cool idea for a trunk. Here's a side view of what I was thinking. It was done using Paint so its kinda crap, but this is a general side cutout of the design. The woofer will be mounted inverted towards the rear of the trunk and angled slightly (40 degrees or less) and the two MOnitor MK I 2.70 will be mounted towards the front of the enclosure flush with it. A trim panel will cover it so all you see if the monitor sign. On the sides I'll do the usual walls to hold my distro blocks, crossover, and other amps. Bu…

I'm planning on upgrading my system within the next month or so, currently I have a Kicker L5 15" running on 1k watts rms in a 4 ft^3 tuned around 40 hz. It's gets low, but doesn't get low enough... I'm leaning towards the Sundown X-18, or maybe a Sundown SA-15. I've heard the X series can take a hell of a lot more power than what they are rated for (1250W) I believe. Which is what i'm leary about, would I be better off getting a X-18 wired down to 1 ohm at 1400RMS, or go with a SA-15 wired at 2ohm at 1k rms? How much can these subs truly take?

Okay I just received my Mag and had some questions about best practices as far as setup goes. I have a 20.1 pushing the Mag so there is no lack in power. My question is in regards to the wiring and getting the Mag to the lowest impedance possible for more power. From reading I know the Mags are Dual 2 Ohm so how can I lower this? Currently I have the Mag wired as such....please tell me if my thinking is correct (we are talking about one sub here): Jumped a wire from positive terminal to positive terminal on the speaker to the positive terminal of the external connector. Jumped a wire from negative terminal to negative terminal on the speaker to the negative terminal of th…

I walked into a local stereo shop looking to get some carpet for a speaker box and they had an Eclipse Titanium 15". I had not seen one of these in a few years. They were asking $250 for it, it was an old floor model I believe. Is that a good price for one of these? I recall they were quite a bit back then. Would $250 be worth it? I was getting ready to re-install my 12" Soundsplinter RLP into my new car and saw this and gave me second thoughts.

Hey guys Im currently waiting for my SI 12" to be delivered from low-hz and Im starting on the box. 1300ish watts from a diamond D5 1200.1 in a 1.25ft^3 pre displacement sealed box. Anyway trying to work out dimensions and I was just wondering what the mounting ring diameter is? Just so I leave enough mdf outside the 11.125 cutout. Thanks
