Well i have been bumping the maw for a couple months now, and have just recently been being hard on it. Today on the way home i was listening to late nite tip, when the whole sound changed. literally like night and day instantly. never saw, or heard anything like this before. now it gets right down and plays the low low note in that song like the others. at first i thought the sub was screwed, cause it sounded so different. then i realised it was playing clearer and louder than before, plus hitting lower. anyone ever experiance this with any sub? pretty crazy huh?

I was thinking about building a box, but just found one for my Mach 5 MAW-12 sub but am not sure how the sub will sound with the specs on the "Bassworx Box" http://hamilton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=11...EPLY_TO_AD_SENT. The specs for a MAW-12 recommended are 1.8cf for a ported box, and this Bassworx box seems to be a little bigger. It looks like a good price, and would save me the hassle of building my first box. What might it do for the sound of the sub? The perameters for the MAW-12 can be found on the Mach5 website http://www.mach5audio.com/index-2.html I have space for it in my 1995 Impala SS and would be running it on a 250rms 5th channel MTX 895.5. I was looking to…

Hey guys, I'm sure this question has been beaten to death, but it's been a looongg time since I was in the market for new sound gear. I have a 15" sittin in my truck that hasn't been used in about a year since I blew out my system which included a Hifonics BX1500d pushing the mag. Sounded good and all, but now that i'm rebuilding, I don't think I need the rediculously loud setup anymore. Just something clean and tight. I'm looking at possibly the Hifonics bxi606 -- 600watt rms @ 1ohm. Think this'll get the job done? I'm sure theres another level of amp beyond the Brutus, but for me - the watt per dollar ratio is pretty nice. Setup is ported to SI recommendations. Lemm…

Hey all! Im in the market for a beefy little 10" woofer that will get loud and sound good doing it too! I'm lookin for something that can offer me great sq as well as great spl. I listen to rap/hiphop, country, dance/techno and some rockish music. I also get into stuff like Dave Matthews Band as well... I'll be changing up from a ported 12in JLw6v2 so Its gota be able to give JL a run for its money and thensome. For those who will wonder, the reason I am going from a 12 to a 10 is because of space... I'ma be moving soon to a bigger city, so I want to do a more compact setup. I'm going custom build a ported fiberglass tube enclosure and a 10 will be perfect for my i…

i just moved my 2 mtx 9500 into a 05 sentra spec V... i have the 1000 watt rms mtx amp on it at 2 oms, and a 6 farad power accoustic power cap... when i start to pound them after then get so loud, they dont distourt but they just wont get any louder do yall think i should get a second amp to help push these things? The amp is a mono block, but has dual outputs... wouldnt that make it 500 watts rms coming out of each output? i imagine they can get alot louder if i did. and also, even with that 6 farad cap, im still diming out my lights but the digital readout on the cap is saying the battery is still putting out a lil over 12 volts... any ideas?

My friend is looking for a new set of 6.5" mids. He is restricted to 2 3/8" mounting depth. Any suggestions for mids or component sets with this restriction? Price is pretty much no object (within reason).

after much frustration, a blown amp, and unnecessary investments...my system is finally working...it consists of 2 maw 15s running off a viper 1200.1d, some nextar canadian tire deck, cerwin vega components, infinity rears(now blown, heheh)....i am amazed with it...with a very conservative gain setting, no bass boost or equalization it absolutely pounds, and blends fairly well with the speakers...ive heard alot of bad things about 15 inch subs being muddy and undefinined...but hot damn the maws sound sharp, just as crisp and punchy as a pair of 10s imo...i have yet to actually listen to the system at its full potential, as i blew the rear speakers and im going to put new …

Ok so it seems like every major company is coming out with new slim subs. I can't interpret T/S parameters that well and i don't have experience with any of them so give me some options. I'm looking for a sub for the fiero. It will be going one of two sucky places. #1 in the console between the seats (meaning the sub would be firing about 17" away from my nose) this would require an extremely shallow sub but could be up to 10" in diameter (could fit a 12 but airspace would never be sufficient) #2 in the passenger kickpanel area (but in the corner closer to the center of the vehicle) which means it'd be firing towards the passenger for this i'm thinking mpyre 6.5s woudl…

Hi all, Some of you may be following my build log. Well my dad is seeing my progress and he's getting jealous. He drives a 1986 Mercedes 300SDL. He's the person who got me into audio in the first place. He as an incredible-sounding system in his car, with the exception of bass. He only has 4" MB Quart speakers installed, running on a PPI amp and a super high-end Nakamichi head unit... the one that's all metal. The detail I hear in his system is just incredible. He hates loud bass, but he most definitely could use some improvements in the low frequency range. Some of you may know these cars-they have a gas tank right behind the rear seats, and the trunk is relatively…

I've decided to do a wall in my Blazer for 2 FI BTL 18's. They will be powered by a Concept 2410 on each. My question is for those experienced with walls. Is there a loss of deep bass by porting toward the front vs. toward the back hatch? I'm really just wanting to know what will happen as I have never tried a wall before. I'm sure that there will be an increase in air movement inside the vehicle. Thanks for your help. Kevin

Heres some pictures of my current work in progress. It is a downward firing, (port to the side, might build another one with port up too) for behind the seat in an Ext. Cab 89 S-10. A DD 1008 is going in it powered by my USA-300 and my epicenter if I get around to hooking it up. This box was/is built for taking up a minimal amout of space and because I have this stuff laying around doing nothing. The box is around .8 cubes tuned to 40hz. On with the pictures

well, as you know SSA is now a mach5 distributor. Right now i have 2 infinity perfect 12.1's. I was planning on doing these with a ported box, but the more i read, the more id like to try a mach 5 maw15. The maw would cost a little more, because i can probably only get about 80 or so for the pair of perfects. I have one sealed in my car now with 300 watts, but its not loud at all, and i would just be worried about the output. I know this is the mach5 forums and may be a little biased, but most\ of the mach 5 knowledge comes from here. So i ask you, keep the perfects and go ported with about 700-800 watts, or do one maw15 ported with about as much as it can handle? t…

I have a 03 Re Audio SE motor. I plan to use this as a learning experiance. I am in contact with Nick@fi about getting parts to build it into a 15. Anyway, I was wondering how people go about cleaning the CA off the top plate? I tried scraping it but that got me nowhere especially with the magnetic field pulling on it. Is there anything that breaks down CA glue that won't harm the motor? Also I cleaned the gap with sticky notes and a skinny wooden rule with masking tape on it. Is there any other ways I don't know about for future refference? The gap is clean and taped up now but it was a PIA. The SE was a 10 previously and suffered from coil rub. And it had shavin…
