Alright folks my friends 200 watt fender bassman with a single 15. is extremly louder than his 2400 watt power amp running 4 15's. i think the poblem is in the amp the amp runs 2x1200 watts at 4 ohm. and the speakers run at 1200x2 at 8ohm. so i tried to run the amp mono to one speaker 2400watts at 4ohm to a 1200watt 8ohm speaker, that made it worse they didnt even get louder than a voice. the amp should be able to turn all the way up but it starts to blink the "im about to blow up light" at about half volume. what is his problem? help help help help help

Alright, so somebody in my class is looking for a subwoofer for his 1500 reg. cab. He will most likely need a shallow mount subwoofer im thinking, but i havent been able to find a build log of a regular cab so i can get some ideas for where the box is placed ect. Im not really knowledgeable on shallow mount subwoofers so id think id ask you guys. He was looking for about a 12" or 15" sub. If you need more information just ask.

Hey guys. I have the Kenwood Excelon X1R amp and am looking for some new subs to put in the trunk. I have really been looking at AudioQue. I like the way there stuff looks and the prices. Its looking like 2 12 Sdc2.5's in a ported box (if the room is available). I was wanting to see any other suggestions for 2 12s in the range of 300-350 and also wondering who has had experience with these and if they were loud for spl. Thanks

Right now i am looking around at different subs for the new set-up. I have never owned nor heard any tc sounds based subs. found the axis's , but have limited knowledge about them. I'm looking at the 12" version. How good are they compared to others in their price range( approx. 300.00 shipped). Any drawbacks, etc. I have 1 SAZ-1500 and am getting a 2nd for power. As far as what I''m looking for is loud daily that sounds great. Tried a search on the forum here and get an IPS error. Just waying options right now. And thanks in advance. Toolmaker

at the moment i have 2 orion xtr pro 12s in 2001 chevy 1500 Z71 in a front-fire truck box with only a 800 watt amp running both. it was my first car audio system. i am selling my subs and amp to my cousin and now i want to upgrade my system. ive been looking at Fi and just wonder what you guys think about putting 2 Fi Q 12s in that box (its sealed). ive never actually head Fi in person but from what ive read on here they seem really good . i know one will probably be enough but the box is designed for two subs so im gonna put two back in it. also what may be a better choice for the amp as well? thanks, dave

Is it a good combo pack? Knock really good in a sealed box? I'm going to meet with a member here who has it, and listen to it and possibly buy it.

how do you know if the voice coil on a sub is burnt?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Elemental Designs 15" SPv.2's. I'm unsure of what box to put it in. I have it slapped in an old box and it's about 3.05cf@32hz with 36sq inch slot. On icix I've heard anywhere between 3-6cf and anywhere between 22 and 40hz. The only specs I know is the RMS is 1200w and it has 28mm xmax. Think the FS is 26hz? It uses a TC9 motor and standard 12 spoke basket. I contacted ED and they told me they never released the T/S for the sub, and that's some BS! I'm looking for some LSQ, hit hard around 30hz and not sound out of beat on rock, but loud on rap. My sub stage is complete for now, made 138.2 on music Meca style with bass turned down on the head unit. (didn't notice this until after I metered it.) Now I need to upgrade the fronts. The audioque set with their amp looks nice, but is there better for the money? Budget is $500.

Hey guys, I'm new to the site. I am about to build a new box for my Fi BTL 15'' and I was wondering what aero ports are? I know this may sound stupid but basically what I want to know is if they can be used instead of a slot port in a ported enclosure that will be used daily for music? Can you still pick a tuning frequency? I was looking to tune at 32hz with a box volume of 4.5 cubes. And lastly, is there a benefit to them over a slot port design? Thanks!

Hey everybody! I was just is there a diferrence in power handling between a vented enclosure and a sealed enclosure. I just purchased a DC Audio Level 3 15 with the Level 4 coil option, dual 1 ohm. I'm running a Hifonics HFI 1500d @ 2 ohms 1000rms. I was going to use a 2.25^3 ft. enclosure in a Nissan Altima or could I get away with running that much power in a vented enclosure on the sub? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Question. I want to try out the XXX mids, they are 2ohm. I was going to use my CDT crossovers and tweets. They are 4ohm. Whats that gonna be on my amp? Is that even possible? I have 150-160rms@4ohm, but I have over 240@2ohm. I think that it would be a little too much for the set. What do you guys think?

Had two ppl order DC lvl4xl15s d2 and they where both coming from Mojo 15s. I did and Audiopipe 1800D on one DC in a CRX and they guy sad it was way louder that the mojo on his Kole amp. Cool all is right with the world... btw he has the big 3, double 1/0 and an extra batt. My other customer has a '94 Buick Park Ave with a 2610D from Hifonics. ALso with extra batt, big three, and 1/0 power and ground front to back. I have built this guy 5 boxes in the past 6 months(he's indecisive and we are both ok with this) and he is claiming the mojo is louder across the board. okay, this is going to be a shot in the dark.a guy came up from Louisville, to a local car audio competition here in Evansville. He was in the sound quality portion. he drives a mitsubishi montero. he said he owns a shop down in louisville. anyway, he let me listen to use front of components and I was extremely amazed at how well they sound. he said they were made by guy in georgia. he told me their name, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was. a coworker has an old Eclipse TI pro 15" 1500/3000 sub that has a torn surround. its torn about 1/2 way around the diamiter of the sub, does anyone know where to get a recone OR surround for this sub?

I'm looking for replacements for the Tang Bands (see sig)....recently blew one The TBs were decent but I would like to upgrade a little. Prefer a smooth laid back sound..definitely do not like overly bright spitty sounding tweets. Setup is active with alot of tuning ability. I have read alot of good things about Seas Neos and Rainbows (can't remember model). Would either of these be a good match with my DLS mids? Also please list a source if you can. Thanks.

OK... got a recone for my SPL-15 motor but I have some questions. They might seem dumb but i have never done a recone so i have to ask. 1. the Spiders on the recone are smaller than the original and do not sit in the same spider landing... it does seem to fit fine a couple landings down though..? this OK? 2. the coil from the recone is much short than the oginal as well...? 3. I didn't get any shims/spacers or whatever you want ot call them...? what should I use? pics are coming... When i ordered it, it was suppose to be run on a 4Kw @ 1ohm, now it will be on a 2000D @ 1ohm instead...

ok so i have two oz audio ME 10.4's one of which just got its dustcap ruptured during a move. it's a nice sized crack that spans the diameter of the cap, but it's not a hole. i've tried numerous times to contact oz to get a replacement to no avail [and i've heard they don't offer replacements after the warranty period anyways] so i did two things. first i epoxied the crack yesterday. second i found someone with an ubranded RE SR dustcap that seems to be the same shape sans oz audio imprint. pic of RE SR for reference: so my question is whether either of these modifications to one sub will alter the combined sound of both subs. i know you're not supposed to mix speakers t…

I have existing mid-bass speakers in my car's front doors and I want to reuse the space without modifying the doors. The existing speakers are 160mm units. I doubt I could modify my doors and have a result that looks acceptable. The MLI-65s will almost fit. The depth is tight but will work. The problem is that the mounting flange is too large for the door panel. If I use the MLI-65 I will need to cut 5mm off of one side of the speaker's mounting flange to provide enough clearance to mount the door panel. It looks like there is a bit more than 6mm of flange width where the mounting holes are drilled through the flange. Does anyone have any advice or experience to sha…

Does anyone make a Good free air sub anymore? I have a vast collection of Amps and subs. But as hard as parts are to find now I need to get a pair of free air subs I can put in my winter commuter. Can anyone Help guide me in the right direction PLEASE? Before you ask I mostly listen to rap,hard rock, and jazz. Here is a peek of some of my collection.

Friend of mine gave me 2 locked up 9515's to pay off a $250 debt he owed me. I ordered 2 recone kits as my friend says he could rebuild them. I gave them to hit, he reconed them, and they play. Well, one speaker makes a crackling noise at low volumes through it's whole range. At low volumes I can only hear it on very low notes and at higher notes. Did he do a poor job at reconing it? Is it something I did? Are the magnets misaligned? The other speaker is barely audible, I'm thinking that one might be a wiring issue. Any other info needed, just let me know.
