Hello folks. I wanted to get some opinions on 8inch midbass drivers. I'm changing up the front end in my Dodge Durango. I will be running 4 Diamond Audio M6 4inch midranges and a pair of M&K softdome tweets. They will be actively passed at 250 up at 12db per/octave. One set of mids and the tweets will reside in custom pods on the front corners of the dash(tucked in between the dashboard, A-pillar, and windshield so they can be on-axis and facing the passengers) and the second set will reside in pods on the upper front corners of the front door panels. All will be laser aligned to a center point about a foot past the front seats. The midbasses will be located in the lo…

Hey guys, new to the forum here. Starting a build for my single cab. What I have to work with (30-33" L, 10" W, 15-20" H) has limited me to a set of (2) 8's it seems, even though physically I have the volume for 10's or a 12. I have it dialed down to a few subs and I was curious what you guys think? This topic is beating a dead horse, I know. But I'm looking to throw 7-800 RMS on each 8. Looking for something that has some authority in the 32-36 hertz range. My music is 99% rap or decaf with some low bass. Some rock here and there but not enough to justify changing dimensions of box for it. I'm working with Bassahaulics on a box build. For subs I've dialed it down to thes…

I just got my fi bl 12's in today and they are sexy as hell!!! But I was thinking..... since I have some 18's and some 12's why not buy some 8's. Sure I would love to get some fi 8's, but since there are none I guess I will have to get something else! I have NEVER purchased 8's before and was wondering if yall could give me some input on some. I have 3000 watts to work with and was wondering what are some 8's that are on the same level as lets say fi's BTL series. I have heard of people getting some crazy numbers on them but do not remember which model or company they were referring to. Help is appreciated!

Hey, I'm currently running a Soundsplinter rli-8 (s4) driven by a Sundown 100.2. I just dropped in the Sundown last night (got it on the sale) and wow what a difference compared to the Rockford Fosgate 325.2 that I was running. Loud and culeeeen! Since this is just an 8, of course it has trouble going down low low with any real punch. Not a complaint, it's a freakin 8 and I can't believe what it is capable of. So I'd like to drop in a Soundplinter RLP D2 w/ a Sundown 1000D. Question: Will I be better off just letting the 12 do all the work, or could I get louder by running the 12 from say, 20-50Hz or so, and the 8" up to 80Hz or so? I'm not looking to get rid of the 8, …

  10. I would like suggestions for some 8" mid-bass drivers that can easily keep up with my 15" xcon. I would prefer the cost to stay under $150. And to just let you know, I love mid-bass just as much as deep bass. I mean the mid-bass you can feel in your chest. From the 60-120hz range is what I need these to cover. Thanks

I posted this someplace else but you guys seem to know Parts Express pretty well from my brief experience here! I have an 8" subwoofer from a 2001 Suburban with a completely disintegrated foam surround. Voice coil still works and spider is intact. The speaker is 2 ohms and sees about 50 watts from the amplifier. It sits in a small sealed box, around 0.5 cu ft. Thats about all I know of it. Parts express has many options to choose from. I want as cheap as possible since this vehicle is getting sold and I'd like it to have a fully working radio. If it was mine, it would be getting two 18s about now! Any ideas guys?

Alright, well i told a friend that i would help him out with getting some subs in his car. He really isnt into getting loud, he just wants a little extra. So i told him like a smaller sized sub, like an 8" or 10" would be good. He doesnt want to spend too much on this setup so i was wondering if you guys could help me out with some subwoofers that might be a good choice. Probably close to around $200. Ill buy used if i need to, just need some help on what some good options would be.

Ok so I'm about to purchase 4 8" subs to go under the back seat of my silverado, I have been wondering if anyone has any experience with the RE audio RE8s, ReX8s, or the sundown audio e8s, as these three all have good enough mounting depths. Please tell me which you find to be the best. I am looking for the all around best sub out of the 3.

  15. Been a long time out of the scene, so I'm trying to bring myself up to speed on stuff. I recently purchased a 1985 Cavalier convertible and the stereo has got to go! I'm not young anymore, married, kids, but won't settle for crap, so I'm looking mostly at SQ, but needs to be fairly loud since it's a convertible. The cavalier has an open area behind the center console, and I can fit an 8" behind there and tuck the enclosure under the dash on the passenger side. I think it'll be a fun/challenging project. Issue is, what 8" to go with?? It has to be sealed, small and handle up to 400w (Soundstream Continuum is 200w x 1 @ 4ohm). Was considering a Kicker Solobaric at fi…

What is a really good 8" sub whose depth is between 5.25" and 5 7/8".....enclosure will be .6 cu per sub. I will be running 2 of them and already have a 1k watts amp, so if they can handle 500 watts each that would be fantastic.

  20. I am looking for a decent sounding 8. I've done some research and for me its between these 3 brands, mostly because i have found each one at a pretty decent price since im real low on cash and yet want one. A JL audio w0 or w3, Image dynamics ID8 v3 D2, or diamond audio D308D4 8". As far as the Diamond audio goes, i cant find any info as far as testing goes, but it has a 2.5" voice coil and i thought that was pretty cool, now that i say that im looking at the website and cant find specs for the 8 so i really am doubting it has that size voice coils. This will go into a small sealed box about .4cu/ft built by me. I am not looking for super-mega-head-hurting-vision-blurrin…

i posted this over at caraudio.com just now and i thought id post it over here to get your guys' opinion as well. I have heard on other forums that the trunk of my car (1990 BMW 325is) is very well sealed off and its hard to get bass into the car so I am considering putting some 8's in the rear deck. Preferably 2 but I may be able to add a third. Just wondering if you guys could direct me in the right area and give me some ideas for nice 8 inch woofers. I want these things to get as loud as possible, I was originally planning on getting a 12" SX. I have looked into the RE8's, the Crystal Comps, and and Diamond Audio CM3. If you guys could give me any info on any of these …

  23. Ok you guys, decided I would try to put 8" Kicker Comps in each door, along with my cadance mids and titanium super tweets. For full-range sound in doors (lows, mids, and highs) it will be in a new sealed fiberglassed pod mounted to door. Any input?? I've heard someone use them (kicker 8') for their mids, so I thought id try em out. I;ll let you all know how it'll sound.

Looking to getting an 8/10 inch subwoofer. I want the subs to be able to get loud, possibly mistaken for some 12s. But I really want them to be able to hit the spot, great SQ. Looking under 200 a sub. So far I was thinking along the lines of Assasins, DDs, SS Rls, TC10 OEM, smaller TCs, not realy sure yet though. Havent bought an amp for them yet so thats a little bit flexible.
