Subwoofers / Speakers

Discuss Subwoofers And All Aspects Of Speakers here.

  1. hey guys! I have your typical question for sub comparions again. Im looking at comparing the DC Lab LVL 4 15" subwoofer vs. 18" BL Here are the specs: I have a maximum of 5.5ish cu. ft possible for the subs. I'd run the BL in 5.5 cu ft and the LVL 4 in around 4ish maybe tune them to around...35Hz or so. I have a JBL BP1200.1 to power them. So around...1100 to 1200 watts per sub. The BL would be Fully loaded for daily driving. what do you guys think would perform better in comparison to SPL ouputs? Im thinking the SQ will be around the same maybe? lemme know if you guys have any ideas! I know the sub comparisons are always hard because of all the variables

I have a infinity amp that puts out 600 rms at 2 ohms. I want an 18 inch sub in a ported box which i will be building. I only have enough money to get the mj 18 4 ohm. I was wondering if i will get good results by using the amp i have with the subwoofer. Im basically wondering how loud it will be....

Hey guys, I just registered on the forum, it looks cool. I frequent some other car audio forums and I heard this place was cool so I decided to check it out. Anyways, on to the question: I currently run a DD 9515 on an American Bass 3000 watt amp. I'm thinking of switching to a more SQ based system (the DD sounds great but they are not the best at hitting the lows below 40 hz or so). So, I'm looking into maybe 2 Fi Q 15"s, but I want the new system to at least be as loud as my DD while gaining a little in the SQ department. The Qs would be run off the same amp getting 1500 each, and I would get their upgrade for power handling (forget what it's called). So whats your opin…

I need a box for a Fi BL 12 sub woofer I would rather buy one unless it exceeds around $150. I would like it to be ported but I'm not sure if it will fit in my truck. I have a 2000 ford ranger XLT and I want to keep one back seat so it can't be to big. Any suggestions on pre-made boxes or if it's truly worth it, where can I learn how to build a perftect box for the BL 12.

  11. I made a box and it ended up being only 3.5cuft... so i can either just seal it and the sub would fit just fine... but i would much rather ported because my experience it is much louder... but if i went ported the port would be 18.125" x 2.25" and the box would only be about 2.5 cuft... tuned around 32.. so i went through 2 sheets of mdf to look at it and say that its too small.... any suggestions? Should i just seal it and wait till i feel up to getting another sheet of mdf to make a ported? Because i have it so close to being ported... like face is cut and everything... it will be much easier to make it ported.. but idk... i need help.

How will a Q do in an IB setup? I will be upgrading to 15's most likely, should I stick with the Q's or would something else perform better for all out SQ? Price is not a huge issue.

i was just wondering what the best 12" subs i could buy for no more than $350 each would be that can take 1kw rms daily? i am looking for a hybrid of sq and spl ... i listen to hip hop and techno ... i love my lows but i also like that punchy techno bass ... my icons seem to be very picky with music choice ... some songs get real loud while others sound less loud than my 4 old 12s running off of 1.3kw rms total ... the subs will be in a 5.7 cubic ft enclosure

I think I finally decided on the Q. Now I just don't know which options are going to work best. I don't have an amp yet, but plan on getting something that is around 1200-1500. What I'm looking for in a sub, is one that will work best in a small sealed enclosure (around 1 cube), has great transient response, and can drop low. It is an old, old sub now, but my favorite by far has been the MASS 2012, and I just can't find a sub that is equal or better. The fs of the Q kind of makes me nervous, as the MASS was around 25 and the q is 34. My front stage consist of a DLS up6i set, being powered by an amp that is 150x2. The front stage sounds quite good for my taste. I've setup…

Hey guys need some help for a box for a Level 4 12". Im going to have 2 Lvl412's ported, giving them about 1200w each. On the DC site they recommend 1.5 cubes for Ported, and 2 cubes for SPL ported. I guess my first question is, is this measurement net or gross? Also, im kinda looking for a daily/spl setup, so would it be alright to go with 1.75 cubes per sub? And another thing i wasn't sure of, whats the recommended port tuning? for SPL or daily? Has anyone had a preference with these subs and has another recommendation? Thanks, Steven

  24. So a friend decided to go ahead and buy the same sub I have. With me being the loudest in the area he is now the loudest since his is in a hatchback while mine is in an SUV. My question is what upgrade should I go for? With 40 inches wide and 25 deep for the top, 6 12s would be difficult to fit unless I angled the top baffle. I also couldn't do more than three 15s unless, again, the top is angled. A second 18 would be doable but I want opinions on which would sound louder. The plan is a wall behind the C pillar, behind the second row. It's all just planning now, however.
