alright guys I have a dumb question. So I already have aftermarket speakers running off of an amp and my tweeters running off of the head unit. Just bought new mids all the way around...got the prv 6.5 4ohms and those ill just put right in after I get the old mids out. My question is about the tweeters. I also bought a rts-1 audiophile silk dome tweeter kit and need to know what to do. I'm going to take my old infinity tweeters out but don't know if I can use the existing wire going to my old tweeters. Please help!!

Well, I was able to get a little more framework on the Z done today. Here's some pics. The PLs in the door. And I bet you think this is just an ashtray...... Well, lift it up and the little microswitch opens and POOF, no more subbass. Flip it down again, and the MAGNUM will breathe fire! Also had to work on an enclosure for some, BAH, JLs. A trio of 10W6s in 3 cubes @32Hz. Doesn't sound too shabby.

This is my first install in a four door sedan. So sorry for the noob question I will be using a single 15 in a ported enclosure in my trunk. My question is, will I have a better/louder low end if I have my sub pointed towards the rear hatch or if it is pointed towards the rear seat? BTW there is about 10"-12" separating the enclosure and rear hatch. Thanks!

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding ported enclosures. I currenly have 2 Dcon 12s in a ported enclosure, 1.75 cubes per sub tuned to 33hz. The box was made by a local shop and fits my trunk like a glove. The guy at the shop measured my trunk and that's what fit. The dcons pound for a pair of 12s being powered by only 500 watts. I'd really like to upgrade my output by getting an Icon or Xcon 15, but height size it wouldn't fit which poses my question, how would an up firing subwoofer enclosure sound in a trunk compared to the sub facing the rear? I'm pretty confident an up firing box wound fit my trunk. How would an Xcon sound in 3.75 cubes ported to about 33hz?

  10. so i'd say about 4-6months ago i thought i damaged my RF power hx2 15 and was looking for a recone. it was making a noise like tinsel slap or dustcap rattle. i found a recone w/ coil and suspension upgrade to the team fosgate version. but i built a different box and it stopped makin noises so i thought it was the box. my box is way to big for my current car so i pulled the sub out, put the box in the garage and noticed this befor i put the sub up in the closet btw since its been a blown coil this whole time, the other working coil has been taking an saz1500 at full power...... the reason for the coil issue was i went a lil to hard on the sub when i got the saz1500......…

  11. Looking for a 12" sub that can handle 1500w daily like champ and be fine in a slightly smaller ported enclosure tuned in the lows 30's. Looking for mainly SPL right now. This is just for daily, no competitions will take place. Looking to keep the price under $700 for the pair if possible. Need to buy them new. 12" XCON? 12' Nightshade? 12" BTL? 12" HW? I like good customer service and subs that have good information available about optimal enclosure sizes.

I ended up getting a clarion 785usb and i have been wanting to go active for a while. I need some help with drivers tho. I really like the Eminence alpha 6 mids and i was looking at selenium horns, but i think theyd be pretty hard to get into the doors. Could you guys reccomend a decent metal dome tweet with a relatively shallow mounting depth that gets pretty darn loud? I have about 50 watts at 4 ohm and 70 at 2 ohm to work with and i think the crossover point would be like 3khz with that mid? oh and budget would be like 25ish for an 8 ohm driver or 40-50ish for a 4 ohm driver.

Hey everybody! I was just is there a diferrence in power handling between a vented enclosure and a sealed enclosure. I just purchased a DC Audio Level 3 15 with the Level 4 coil option, dual 1 ohm. I'm running a Hifonics HFI 1500d @ 2 ohms 1000rms. I was going to use a 2.25^3 ft. enclosure in a Nissan Altima or could I get away with running that much power in a vented enclosure on the sub? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  17. I am looking for some 6.5 inch components, RIght now i have a set of Swiss Audio sak-650's in small sealed boxes and Pioneer Ts-A1702c which are also 6.5 inch but i built small boxes tuned to about 45 for those. I would like something better than this and i would put them in the ported box. I am using these at home so mounting stuff is not a problem. Also for me the pioneers are better. what would you recommend? Also price is kinda of an issue, so the cheaper the better. Thanks

so i have a box where the port is 30.25 wide and 3.5" tall from the face of the box back but when it bends the gap from the port to the back wall changes to 4.25". this was a build error where i put the second sheet of wood on the face of the main port as opposed to the end grain of the port. how will this effect my boxes tuning and port dynamics?

Well lets get this part out of the way, I have a Dodge Magnum, and I'm currently running a FI Q 12 D2 with BP power in about 2.2^3ft at 31ish hz on a Sundown 1500d. I love the sound of my setup (listen to primarily rock), very happy with it, EXCEPT i want my cargo space back! For fun I had it metered and put down a 140.8 on the TL. So what I'm looking to do is build enclosures for my rear storage pockets as you can see here. I want to attempt building them myself, but am using this for planning which means somewhere about .7 cu ft and 6.5 inches deep to work with. Obviously this would limit me to a sealed 10 or sealed or ported 8. For budget let's say 200ish a piece for a…
